Doc Rivers is not a bad coach, but not the best. I hope this new coach can make some big changes and show the NBA how well the Magic really are. I mean they got the "Real" MVP in my terms. He played bad a few times, but tell me "Mike" didnt play bad for a few games in his career.

Not really a surprise. As TMac recently said in effect, "the business is about winning games and when we're not winning games, changes are going to happen."

I think the last 10 games have greatly diminished the Magic's chance of making the playoffs. In the NBA, ten games out of eighty-two is very hard to make up for unless you're a team like the Lakers who are capable of going on a unstoppable run. My prediction is that Magic miss this year's playoffs...... which leaves a spot for the Raptors to step in :D

Pat Riley might show up soon as Orlando's coach. Or they'll stick with Johnny Davis for a while.

Contrary to popular belief...every thread is not an excuse for you to bring up Michael Jordan or the Lakers. (N)

Isn't Pat Riley President and Head of Basketball Operations of the Miami Heat?

Taking the Orlando job would be a promotion though I think. :P

rivers is the fall guy but there are other people that deserve the blame as well. more specifically Tmac and Gabriel. "real mvp's" dont let their teams lose 10 games in a row. the grant hill debacle, ben wallace, atkins, the vaughn trade, and other bad personnel decisions by the GM.

rivers coaching stint in orlando was a successful one (coach of the year, the magic overachieved in the seasons he was there) though most likely it will be overshadowed by last year's playoff series and the magic's woeful start this year. hope rivers lands on a team sometime soon or at least get back his gig as a nba analyst

I think John Gabriel should keep his job.

Granted...he can't draft worth a damn. But he did bring in Tracy McGrady...and later Juwan Howard. He also is probably one of the few GM's alive who ripped off Jerry West in a deal...the Miller for Gooden and Giricek one.

He's also one of the few GM's in the league who seem to have a definite plan in mind for their team...even if injury's have messed it up. Guys like Scott Layden on the other hand...make deals like a chimp pounding a controller in Live 2004 dynasty.

Jerry West does not get ripped off in this deal, The Grizzlies also received a first-round pick in 2003 and a second-round selection in 2004, while sending an undisclosed amount of cash to the Magic.

So they got Dahntay Jones, Mike Miller, Ryan Humphrey and Orlando's 2nd round pick next season, could be like 32 or 33 overall.

Although Giricek and Gooden look pretty good now, Humphrey and Jones still good come along, as well as a second round pick, which could be a solid player. Also Memphis did get Mike Miller, who looks to be a as good a player as Gordon Giricek, Miller can shoot and is a decent passer and defender. Memphis only has to make up for Gooden, whom they really do not need right now with Gasol playing the power forward.

I think Orlando only has a slight edge here, and the future looks to have more upside for Memphis, I think with Gooden, Giricek and Miller, what you see is what you get, but the X factor in this deal is Dahntay Jones, Ryan Humphrey and next year's 2nd Round pick.

If the extra players and picks pan out, the deal could be considered an even swap.

Not to argue or disagree, but ripping off Jerry West is jumping the gun a little.

PS Gooden and the rest of the disappearing act, I mean the Magic have managed one win, so uh...
