Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

This looks like a real innovation in sports games if executed like they promise.

That Rudy Gay doesn't look like his real life counterpart at all.
Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:33 pm

Rudy Gay doesn't look like him at all.

Nice........Love the break down of the player tendencies. this will add to the overall game experience. It will challenge users on both sides of the ball to be more familiar with their teams strengths and weaknesses.

If all goes to plan, it should mean more realism too. The CPU will still take what it's given though. If you make a mistake defensively they'll try to take advantage.

Yeah...
Oh.
And what was with all those
ratings before?
Thu Aug 07, 2008 4:14 am
Andrea Bargnani looks like a slimmer, younger version of John C. Reilly.
I hate how the big "DNA" overlay text takes away from reading the bar graph. Like, wtf, it's distracting.
Thu Aug 07, 2008 6:09 am
Why are you reading the graph? The percentages are in the little table next to it?

One of the biggest thing you'll notice in those ratings is the fact that the jump ratings have been reduced drastically.
That tells me they atleast are trying to turn the game into a sim style approach.
The last two years that has been one of the main ratings that has hindered the game play IMO because players were dunking from anywhere.
I'm gonna have me some fun this year with those player ratings and tendencies.......

The Live 07 ratings tell you this? Or the Inside Drive 2000 ones?

It's generally quicker to "read" surface area rather than numbers (image vs text).

You memorized the values for the colors already?
Fri Aug 08, 2008 1:05 pm
No, but if I'm looking at numbers, I still need the table descriptions
I meant I'll still use the table descriptions, but when it comes to value, I prefer to look at a bar graph than numeric values. Looking at it again, I see what you mean now, the color is already behind the value. Doesn't the numbers just make the bar graph and color coding redundant?
Fri Aug 08, 2008 1:33 pm
Exactly. And we're not even talking about whether or not the things they set as the DNA are even the most important things to decide how a player plays, we're just complaining about how they displayed it.
