Talk about NBA Live 09 here.
Sat Jul 26, 2008 9:49 am
Article about Dynamic DNA in NBA Live '09 and mention of NBA 2K9's version of the feature. According to OS, the Dynamic DNA feature in NBA Live '09 will be based on daily updates. (Everyone knows that.)
However, the Dynamic DNA in NBA 2K9 will be based more on real-time happenings in the game, rather than real-life data downloads.

Andrew,
No problem. I guess we'll see how this feature is differentiated in the games when they come out and we get to sit down and play them. What were your thoughts on the article, Andrew?

Nothing I didn't already know about it. As I've said before I think it will prove to be a worthy addition if it works as well as planned. Even if they weren't doing the updates it would still be promising.

Andrew,
I guess that you'd have to play both 2K9 and NBA Live '09 to see judge how effective Dynamic DNA is in that game and then spend some time with 2K9 to see how their take on Player DNA affects their game in terms of gameplay.
I don't see NBA Live '09's take on Dynamic DNA as better than or worse than what 2K9 is trying to do with Player DNA in terms of that game. I think that having the feature in both of these NBA games will help make them better and more fun to play. As a gamer, I'm inclined towards NBA Live '09 but, with that being said, I'm getting 2K9 as well because there are things in both games that appeal to me and they are different enough to keep me interested and playing both games on a regular basis.
In the end, though, I guess it comes down to a matter of gaming taste. I'm pretty picky especially when it comes to NBA games and I am looking forward to getting Live '09 and NBA 2K9 so I can enjoy the best that both have to offer.

I find NBA Live's approach a more appealing notion since it's being based on real life data but that's not to say 2K9's approach won't yield some good results either. Giving every player on the court a "brain" is certainly the way to go to get the kind of experience a lot of us want.

I have to say that I am VERY interested in DNA dynamics. It will be interesting to see if this actually works EVERY DAY. I would be happy with just a weekly update. It is a great idea that was long overdue.

I wonder if 2k can really pull theirs off. It's a lot of work on their part to make that happen. I'm not completely sold on 2k because they haven't showed up anything. I'm definitely buying Live first this year. 2k stop hiding

ThaLiveKing,
It is interesting to me how 2K9 decided not to implement their Player DNA using daily updates like NBA Live '09 does. I guess as more time goes by, more details about 2K9 will be made available to the public, along with some gameplay videos.
It does seem that 2K is hiding doesn't it?

Yeah, and that's how EA was behaving when 07 came out. Which makes me wonder if they did anything new with their game.

ThaLiveKing,
Could it be that 2K developers are somehow accepting defeat? Or are they worried that maybe their game (2K9) won't be as well received this year as NBA Live '09?
Very interesting indeed. We'll see what happens.

I want to see the competetion between NBA 2K and NBA Live also on the PC.
PC's online community is larger than consoles'.

Beatboxer,
I doubt that NBA 2K9 will ever be released by 2K Sports since NBA 2K has not ever been released on the PC. It would be interesting to see NBA 2K games on PC, however, it seems very unlikely from it ever happening.

It might be something we see in the future though. If porting the 360 version to the PC proves a success (financially and critically speaking) then perhaps 2K Sports will take a greater interest in the PC market.
