Michael Jordan

This is the official Michael Jordan thread.

Just before the Wizards 103-78 win over the Bucks, Jordan said that he would now be focusing on inside scoring more than ever, since it is clear that his knees are no longer a concern. The result was 25 points (9-20fg, 7-8ft), 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 30 minutes (would have been about 37mins but the game was decided so MJ and other starters were taken with 9 minutes still remaining). Coach Collins recently stated that the 6th man experiment is officially over and that MJ would definitely be starting every game for the remainder of the season. Other MJ details: shooting .460 from the field thus far this season (5% better than last season), .385 from 3-point range (20% better than last season).

i see i tell people that mj can still put up 25points per game but they doubt me and he put up 25 point in only 29 minutes last night... if he starts to get to the hoop alot more, i think he will be even more dangerous!

Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:42 am

i think the wizards are about to get on a huge winning streak now that mj is starting and going for it. i think the wizards will be atop the eastern conference by mid-january. and u know who will get his chance to retire on top AGAIN.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:56 am

That didn't happen last year?

I think the Wizards would need a good front court and a competent team first?

Thu Dec 05, 2002 1:02 am

this year MJ is FIT. plus the wizards have 7 new players and one of the deepest line-ups in the NBA.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 1:07 am

btw, Juan Dixon looks incredible so far. He's shooting over 48% from the field and recently produced big scoring games and leads the league in steals per 48 minutes (he had 6 steals and 14pts in the 4th quarter vs Philly!). I think Dixon will be starting at PG by the end of the season (although he's out for 3 weeks after banging elbows with a teammate in training).

LOL... You're such an unstoppable guy...

Thu Dec 05, 2002 2:53 am

alright m.j. scores 25 in 29 minutes.

there is still hope for the wiz, but i thinks it's best if m.j. starts and playes like 35 -38 minutes (can't play him too much, don't want him to get injured)

go michael score a 40 for us one more time!

Blah, blah, blah, blah, heard that last year.

Fact:
Wizards have a lousy frontcourt

Fact:
They don't have a competent point guard with an injured Dixon, and Dixon wasn't playing much before a game ago.

Fact:
Michael Jordan is 40 years old and despite what you think cannot play like he's 30. Even if he could, it wouldn't help the Wizards.

In other Michael Jordan news, apparently that women he committed adultry with also had children with Dale Davis and Ray Jackson. Too bad it's probably going to be tried in a Chicago court where Jurors have been known to ask Jordan for autographs and Jordan again will get off for wrongs hes committed.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 11:11 am

LOL

Thu Dec 05, 2002 11:16 am

I agree. It is a joke that the trial will probably be in Chicago. It should be in a neutral court that will finally punish Jordan for his law and ethics breaking actions and won't be swayed because of championships he won while part of the local team.

i just realised that since MJ returned to the NBA he has not missed any games due to injury apart from knee tendinitis. Whereas Bryant, McGrady, Iverson, Shaq etc. have all missed numerous games (a lot last season and some this season) due to back, neck, knee, foot problems etc.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 11:42 am

Well, unstoppable, good to see we can peacefully agree without foolish insults traded. Very much different from many posters. I don't know if I'd like Jordan in jail, but he should have to pay more than $5 million for all his illegal actions over the years or serve appropriate time. Too bad the DAs never appealed knowing no one would want to be known as the person that convicted Michael Jordan. Looks like another O.J.?

And the point is? That Injuries happen to everyone?

Jordan - 22 games missed last year, 0 this year
Iverson - 22 games missed last year(he was way more beat up than anyone else you listed), 0 this year.
Bryant - 2 games missed last year, 0 this year.
Shaq - 15 games missed last year, 12 this year.
McGrady - 6 games missed last year, 1 this year.

Totals:
Shaq - 27
Jordan - 22
Iverson - 22 (remember, he was really beat up after the Finals run)
McGrady - 7
Bryant - 2

So...I still don't understand the point? That smaller injuries can affect older, or fatter players more so than younger or slimmer ones?

Thu Dec 05, 2002 11:53 am

Thats what I love about MJ, he always finds a way to win :D

No point; just an observation. Make of it what you will.

Sigh. But what are we teaching our kids? That it's ok to break the law and have (what are generally looked upon as) poor ethics?

¤ wrote:Sigh. But what are we teaching our kids? That it's ok to break the law and have (what are generally looked upon as) poor ethics?

"We" are not teaching the kids anything. This is the real world, we can't control it. I'm not going to lose sleep over situations i can't control. Just accept it, MJ wins.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:09 pm

We're teaching our kids exactly that by accepting and allowing Jordan to break the laws and the "Standard" set of ethics and by not saying it's wrong but by making up excuses and directing blame onto other people. Jordan may win, but only because we allow him to. He's a terrorist. A terrorist of what are usually considered good ethics. He's a bad example for kids (since he's supposidly the most marketed athlete in the world) and we continue to put him on a pedestal and say "Little Timmy, be like Mike".

So yes, we are teaching ours and others kids to cheat on their wives, gamble, have no cares about people in slave like situations, punch teammates, etc.

I guess you just find all that stuff to be right and should be promoted.

Just seems wrong to me to continue to promote him, someone who's really done wrong things. While we take someone like Iverson and condemn him for going into his own apartment supposidly with a gun (that was never found) looking for his wife throw 70 years of felony charges at him and say he should be in jail. While allowing a law breaker to be promoted throughout the world.

Like I said, just seems wrong to me.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:15 pm

Doesn't matter whether its right or wrong, its reality. And in reality MJ is King. You can't change that, its not even worth debating.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:32 pm

Micheal Jordan is not king. He is just another human, albiet one who is ignorantly over-hyped and placed above others. He is wrong, he should be punished for his law breaking actions. We can change it, we can stop promoting him, we can demand he be punished. We can stop lying about him being the greatest basketball player of all time. We can stop lying about him being an ethical and rightous person. You might be cynical, but you're wrong, it can be changed. No man is a mountain. But if everyone gives up, everyone is doomed. If a basketball team gives up, they lose, no matter their power. If an army gives up, they lose, no matter their power. If we give up, we lose, no matter our power.

Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:33 pm

Who do you think will stop promoting Michael Jordan  :?:

Bill Clinton is still admired and adored by millions :)
