What's up with T-mac?

Postby bishibashiboy on Sat Nov 08, 2003 2:57 pm

Ok I know zone defences can create problems for some players, but I've never seen a player this affected until now. This is worse than Shaq's ever been affected.

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, T-mac recently admitted a couple games ago he has no clue how to score/play against zones. Now I can understand a center being denied the ball and unable to make their moves in the post against zones, but we're talking about a shooting guard/small forward here!

Tonight he scored 4, yes 4 points on 2-10 shooting while not attempting a single free throw. Yikes.
How could last season's NBA leading scorer avg'ed 30ppg last year? Didn't ONE team attempt to zone him up at all last year? I can bet by admitting his deficiency everyone's gonna zone up on the Magic now.

Thoughts?

Zone defense is the way to beat the magic. IMO tracy is not that type of a scorer who loves to move without the ball he's more of a 1on1 type of a player. Just watch that game and saw the lack of interest in shooting the ball. Maybe he's frustrated with the zone or he just doesn't want to play in orlando anymore.

The word's out! All teams should play a zone D against the Magic...and that should beat them altogether...

In Orlando...Doc is trying to teach T-mac how to get around one...and he better do it fast before Orlando loses all their games to Zone Defenses!

At least my man, Tyronn Lue scored 25 points! I'm happy wit that!

It just boggles the mind that T-mac doesn't know how to beat the zone yet.
Is it a lack of shooters on the Magic? Is it cuz they're not hitting their open shots when they get the pass?
I thought T-mac had good handles and passing skills. If A.I. can beat zones himself, I don't see why T-mac should be having this problem.

And whining thru the press like that is just not a good idea. He's just asking for zones every game now. You don't see Superman yelling to everyone: "I'm afrad of kryptonite!"

Not very smart of T-Mac to say that he can't score against a zone defense.

Hey, look on the bright side, he scored as much as the whole Raptors team in the second quarter.

Damn this is disappointing. Right now the way he plays he doesn't deserve the C in his jersey.

Yeah! Tyronn Lue deserves it! lol...this is not good for Mcgrady and Doc Rivers...is it possible that one of them will leave Orlando...one of them will be gone by the All-star break...or more possibly...by play-off time? Especially if T-mac doesn't play any better (maybe something else is on his mind! And I ain't suggesting nothin!)

Tyronn scored 18 today...He did better than T-mac AGAIN! Go T-lue!
