My sentiments exactly. Even though I'm by no means a fan of the Hammer, it's good to see Australia represented in the NBA again.

Go shane...he'll get more playing time cause guys are out!
I hope he starts to make some more assists...cause that's what i feel the Spurs want him to do!
(And yes...I can fill the Spurs...I'm there in spirit...)- That was lame!

Well he might have just lost his job. Free Agent Jason Hart was signed earlier and then starts over Heal tonight. Hart plays 32 minutes Heal gets only 11. Granted Hart has been with the team before, but to come in and tke all those minutes. Heal is not a pg but his size limits him. A shame for the Aussies but Jason Hart is from "Cuse and I stormed the court when he and Etan and the gang beat the then NCAA champs Connecticut.

If you are 32-years-old and you get a call from the NBA every seven years, you are probably not an NBA quality player, somebody is either desperate or misinformed.

Amen

it's the Brett Brown connection that landed Heal a tryout. Besides these kinds of players that don't play much can come in handy sometimes... Bobby Hansen, Jud Buechler, Mike Penberthy.
It's a shame Hart is getting so many minutes over heal, especailly after Heal played better the first game they had Hart. Oh well.

Well, Hart scored 2 points and 2 assists in 31 minutes...so hopefully the Spurs will wake up and start Shane before Parker gets back.

i know, but his australia's only hope until andrew bogut hopefully gets drafted.

Bogut should be drafted 10th-15th overall.

Im a huge spurs fan, have for most of my basketball life, and Im a moderator at the largets spurs site around
most of the fans like him, a lot see him as just a 3rd stringer who can bang a three, kinda like a poor mans stevie kerr...he's becoming a fan fave, and people are seeing him in the streets of SA and saying hello!
I watched the miami game today and he was unlucky on two of his threes, the final one was way short...which sucked...
I dont know if he'll last the week tho. Spurs cut Kiwi sean marks to get Hart (the reason he starts is because he knew the offenses from his last stint in SA) Now PHX want Marks, and with timmy out, spurs need up front help.
Either the spurs gamble and dump Garcia, and hope that noone picks him up because he's injured...or dump Heal when TP and Carter are available..spurs are really...REALLY high on Garcia. the dudes got some major hops I hear, and he can ball, just cant speak english etc
Jason Hart, I sadly admit, (for shanes sake) has done a great job, and is more of what the spurs need at the 3rd pg spot then Heal.

Hey hey!
So Miami picked up Kirk Penney! Is he good, i heard he's a good outside shooter! But he got cut by Minny...but Miami has him now! (Another Kiwi in the NBA...although there aren't many Aussies/NZ in NBA anyway!)
Bogut's gonna be a beast! If he gets drafted to the Jazz....they will have a big man and a rebounder...somehow, I think AK-47 isn't much of a rebounder. Yeah...I think it depends on Andrew's season in Utah for college....maybe he'lll average a double-double...and get drafted high up in the order! (Does anyone know how he's doing?)
Back to Heal...I find it kool to hear that the fans like HEal...at least he's doing more for the Spurs than Gaze did (As i have heard). I learnt that Gaze won a ring with SA, sitting on the IR list!

That's pretty funny...but they did say they appreciated his presense...and to "have an Aussie on board!"
Yeah... I haven't seen Heal play before except for the Olympics...All I know is that he can shoot- is there anything else he can do?
Yeah...someone said Heal is 32 and can't make a difference or somethin? I don't think that this is much of an argument against that...but Gaze was 33 when he played for Spurs and got a ring...he made a difference by being with them in spirit!

What a cheerful post about Shane Heal and Andrew Gaze!!
Heal played a little tonight, but mostly Jason Hart played the point.
Kirk Penny played at my college (Wisconsin), I hope the best for him.

lol! Is that a good/bad thing?
Anyway...did I mention that Shane Heal can only shoot...same with Andrew Gaze! lol....just joking...I think Gaze could dribble!

Miami signs Tyrone Hill; waives Kirk Penney; activates Caron Butler; and places
Malik Allen (bone spur, right foot) on the injured list.
Penny didn't even get a coffee cup in Miami.
Sat Nov 08, 2003 11:25 am
Poor Penney! lol
Prob never even got to go down and practise with the team! How would you feel? A little rejected...
Sun Nov 09, 2003 4:50 pm
Man- this sux! Heal ain't getting no love down in Texas! 4 guys are injured including Anthony Carter and Tony Parker and he still plays next to no minutes!
That sux! Shane deserves more minutes! He needs game time to perform! C'mon Spurs! Give Shane a chance!
Tue Nov 18, 2003 4:56 pm

shane just got
cut from the spurs. just saw it on the news... after just six games. i saw it coming tho, with the way they were playing hart and with parker not injured anymore. looks like my dream of an australian in the nba will have to wait till next years draft.
Tue Nov 18, 2003 8:01 pm
Dude...poor Shane....
And i didn't get to hear about any quality play from him too...wat a shame!
Wed Nov 19, 2003 12:24 am
oh well... can't really feel sorry for a guy that has money and plays basketball for a living (or used to).... Though that poor bastard did put money into the kings yes? Putting money into NBL teams = no-no
Wonder what Shane's gonna do now. I can see him making a comeback in the NBL, he's too young to retire, plus he's too much of a cocky bastard to sit back and do nothing...
Wed Nov 19, 2003 3:24 pm
I heard on the news reports that he isnt going back to the nbl, but going to play in europe till the world championships.
Fri Dec 05, 2003 10:50 am
Shanes in Europe now...heard on the news he topscored with 26 points where he LED the team to victory! Go Heal!
I just found on the Net where he plays! Plays for Makedonikos....I think its a greek team...
