he can't guard ilgauskas: ilgauskas averaged 20.3 points against the pistons last year in only 32 minutes

I'm not sure if I believe those stats  , where did you get it from.

Ok, i have looked at 3 cle-det games (were both Ben and Z was in) and calcuted a average for Big Ben and Ilgauskas.

Code: Select all
ILGAUSKAS                                 WALLACE

PPG:19.6                                  PPG:11.0
RPG:5.6                                   RPG:18.0
BPG:2.3                                   BPG:4.0

As you see at scores, Ilgauskas wins in scoring and scores the way he normally does, BUT-->
all these 3 games, Big Ben played Forward, So you can't really tell if he did guard Ilgauskas at all, maybe Cliff did that, cuz he played Center.

Ben Wallace kills on the board and get almost 4times more than Ilgauskas, and Ilgauskas himslef only get 5.6 a game (normaly he gets 7.5).

Ilgauskas does well on the blocking but Wallace wins on that on too with almost the twice.

END RESULTS: Zydrunas Ilgauskas is a good player, but Ben Wallace is better.

ok he averaged 19.7. the other stats are irrelevant because you are arguing that wallace is an amazing defensive player so he should've kept ilgauskas below his average

So you can't really tell if he did guard Ilgauskas at all, maybe Cliff did that, cuz he played Center.

you earlier wrote: (Ben Wallace has)The ability to defend any player in the league

if this is true, why didn't the pistons put wallace on ilgauskas if indeed he didn't play on him?

I don't know how Pistons Coach think but maybe they thought that Clifford could handle him.

You can't teach height, but I'd still take Ben Over Z. Z's got bad feet so he'll never be as good as advertized. Its called, reality. If i were coaching, I'd never put Ben on Z. I'd rather use ben to punish any PF the Cavs use. No sense on using Ben on Z to slow him down when I can use him on Boozer and shut him down.
