The numbers game. then vs. now

Study 1: Grant Hill
One of the many "next Michael Jordan"s of the 90s, he was probably the best all-around player in the league in the latter part of the 90s. Watching him on the Suns today, he shows flashes of brilliance he had in his prime. Then I got thinking, how would he stack up against the superstars of today?

Being two great all-around players at the same position, it is a little easier to compare these two superstars. Despite Grant's athleticism, Lebron's speed and leaping ability still blows everyone out of the water. Grant never really developed a perimeter game despite being a decent shooter from the outside (30%+ 3pt% in 97, 2000 and this season) while Lebron has quickly become a threat from the outside in his career (see the last few Cavs games)

I have little doubt that Grant Hill would have remained a perennial All-Star with some more impressive seasons to his credit and perhaps even an appearance or two in the conference finals earlier this decade if not for his injuries, though by this point in his career his numbers would probably be around what they are now, perhaps slightly higher depending on his role. If he were in his prime today, I'd say he'd put up the same kind of numbers he did back in the day and rank amongst the best in the league.

Grant Hill was never the offensive player LeBron is. Sure he was the best player at his position over the span, but Hill never seriously threatened to dominate the league, LeBron does.

As a side random fact with no point to it, that Pistons team in 96-97 was 43-14 before going 11-14 in the last 25 games. (At the same point, the Bulls were 50-7, Heat were 42-15, Knicks were 41-16, Hawks were 38-19, and Hornets were 35-22. Oh, East, how far you have fallen. Also, all those teams surpassed the Pistons in the standings except the Hornets.) JoeD was pretty scorching on offense that year, also got himself an All-Star spot due to the Pistons record.

All I know is that this forum needs some tables format or something for stats like what Qballer posted.

think of lebron as tyson of boxing. lebron is a new hybrid among players in the nba; 250lbs, plays like a G/F. with today's improvement in conditioning, technology, diet, take my word for it there will be 7 foot players that will play like a gaurd in the future. guys like lebron is the start of athletes becoming more powerful and faster by the decade.

So far we've left it disabled due to some concerns about security. It's something we could certainly reconsider.

We've already seen some examples of that but then we've also seen some more traditional big men and at the end of the scale, lumbering stiffs. I think we'll see players continue to stand out as exceptions to the prototype at each position but for the most part the traditional approach to the game will prevail.

I'm kind of slow to see these things. Like the way I think you're a disappointment in the forums, I was expecting more, much more.

I just thought of this...is there a way to just allow some HTML codes and not others? I'm not an expert on these matters, but I don't really think that allowing simple codes like <b> <i> <u> or even the table codes will result in any breach of security.

Or just add the long requested table mod.
