LeBron

After watching the pre-seson Lakers vs Cavs game on TNT, I think that LeBron is more suited as a point guard rather than a shooting guard. Right now, he's averaging around 10 points and shooting 30% from the field. That's not too impressive for someone that everyone had given high expections but he's still learning. I like his passing skills though. Things that he could improve on are his turnovers and shooting. I don't get how this kid can make so many shots in highschool but he shoots airballs in the NBA when he's wide open :roll:

What are your first impresions of LeBron?

Also, Anthony, Wade, and Ford are doing a lot better than expected. It was a bad mistake for Detroit to draft Milicic in my opinion.. Too overhyped?

Well, the nba stage is alot bigger then high school. It's possible he had a bad game from outside, trust me it happens. I like what you said about playing Lebron at point guard, or at least draw plays where he can create by going to the rim or setting up teamates.

As for Detroit drafting darko, its still very early. But ive always had the opinion that detroit is on the verge of challenging now, so u dont take a project-type player like darko who needs time to develop. I thought Melo was a perfect fit at small forward for them and he could contribute straight away. But in 5 years time we could be saying "geeze, wasnt joe dumars smart for taking darko"

from what Ive seen (highlights + stats), I think Lebron sees himself as the leader of the team, I just dont think a rookie should shoot 12+ shots per game when you have players like Ricky Davis and Zydrunas Ilgauskas on your team. He can pass real nice and I think that the passing should be his thing instead of scoring

I admit I haven't seen him in action yet, but I still think he'd be better off playing small forward or shooting guard. He could still handle the ball a fair amount playing point forward, but I don't think he's ready to be a point guard in the NBA.

I hope Darko eventually tears is up. He has barely played 1 full game in terms of minutes. Yes he needs to develop but too many people are branding him a bust already. In the last game he played what 8 minutes, 1-2 from the field, one turnover, a board or two. A 'proven' player in "not much will" Okur played 20 minutes and was 1-8 in a preseason game, so why not give the young fella some court time! I hope it's not going to be a case of Larry "Floyd" Brown, if you guys know what I mean.

As for Lebron, he has had the minutes and the shots, and shown what? Brick city. :oops:

We shall see what the regular season brings, can't wait (y)

You guys definitely must not be watching the games. Lebron had 7 rebounds and 6 assists against the Lakers...and he knows exactly what he's doing out there. He looks like he's a 3rd or 4th year guy...and he has everything but the jump shot.

Considering that he just recently switched from the jumper he's been shooting all his life...I'd say he's looking very impressive.

A few other rookies are playing like 2nd or 3rd year players.. including Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade.

LeBronhas good passing skills and court awareness but his jumpshot needs work. :oops:

I agree with andrew, he might be more of a point forward from what ive seen and heard,though he handled the point well, just as refuze said but, his jumpshot is at the least called shaky, but his rebounding and passing is quite good, not to mention his athletic abilities, and great players make other players better, they dont have to shoot the lights out, though they gotta make shots when it counts the most, if they are gonna leave him too much open and he will light up, he could kill a team here and there, but he should get the time to develop, just as kobe and tmac had to develop, if he averages 12ppg(i went from 15 to 12 after his poor shooting performances), 5-6rpg and about 5apg, he will have had a solid good year, there shouldnt be more expected of him, if he exceeds those numbers thats great but it's not necessary imho.
Melo definately impressed me, he can do pretty much anything he sets his mind to, great offensive player, he could score in the high teens low twenties for denver(besides him theres no really consistent high scorer), Bosh idd was superb, i think carter needs to reconsider his words "i'd rather have immediate help" cuz he might just give it to them;
Wade was impressive too, i like him(i might start a heat franchise in stead of a bulls franchise with live 04). Banks also had some solid games, Darko kinda disappointed but he doesnt need to deliver, besides if the guy is seven foot and will only get better the pistons shouldnt regret their decision(if prince produces though). All in all, i think this is a great rookie class, maybe one of the best of the last year, the last draft that really impressed me was the class of '96 with iverson,marbury and allen(three stars now, and the fact iverson is my fav :P ), in the other drafts since then there were great players but none of them was as good as the one of '96 imho.

I don't understand why Lebron keeps taking so many outside shots. If he does this in the regular season his fg% will be 35%. Lebron must go to his strengths, and must overpower opposition guards inside. Plus driving will also give him opportunities to penetrate and dish. Jordan didn't shoot from the outside too much in his rookie year either. Go to your strengths Lebron. The guy is going to the only weakness he has. It's crazy.
