i think with devin harris, ager and diop, this is a good trade. Harris is only 24 years old and marcus williams is 22, so i would love to see those two switch back and forth as point guard. They both have potential to be the future point guards of the nets. And i remember maurice ager was really good in the ncaa, but he didn't get any playtime in dallas. Im sure that lawrence frank is gonna change that if he comes to the nets, so we have three players under the age of 25 right there in williams, harris and ager at point guard. And Diop will give us some needed dominance in the post. So this is actually a good deal.

I love Jason Kidd and i hate to see him go like this. I wanted him to retire as a net and have his jersey retired here in front of the thousands of fans in new jersey that love him like me. He gave his heart and soul to this team and brought it from one of the worst teams in the league to finals contender in his first two seasons and the playoffs every other year.

So to all the nets fans here, i know that you don't want to see Kidd leave like this. This is probably gonna be the most heart-breaking trade for us nets fans. But, with a player like devin harris in the deal, i think its worth it. I'm sure you can all agree with me that we want to see Jason Kidd happy. But keeping him here isn't gonna do that. He may play a 100 percent physically but his mind is not with the nets anymore. He just wants that ring. And if i were him, i would probably do the same thing. I mean he gave us two chances to win the championship in 2002 and 2003, so we just have to be happy for the guy and wish him the best in dallas.

LOL

condition of LarryBird exception:played in one team for more than 3 years
and early Bird expection:played in one team for 2 years

so I think George is thinking for his early bird expection

finished 2007-2008 season, every overrun salary cap team can sign him without using middle level expection or minimum(George won't agree this)

~It's the second year for him in Dallas~

I'm not a Nets fan but I like Carter and started to think the Nets would be starting a real push for the play-offs and with their veteran team I thought they might go deep if Krstic could improve.
But with selfish Judas Kidd on your team surely it wont happen.

But all you Nets fans out there.
Dont be down.
You still have Rod Thorn to rip off yet another team, this time its not Toronto. Its Dallas.
Surprising with a true basketball man like Donnie Nelson thats letting it happen.
Devin Harris is a great talent. He's like a great player for 10-12 years.
I give Kidd max 3, probably only one or two seasons. And a couple of picks too, and Diop (no offence, I know but good defence and a space-eater and rebounder)

Yeah, the trade is blocked by George so now the pressure is on him. But they leaked that for a purpose and I think it will go through eventually.

So, all you Nets. Root for George to relent and you will get a trade that in like 3 years make no sense at all - for Dallas.

it seems that the nets are talking trades with other teams too, magloire and nachbar for mike miller and the carter-jermaine swap is still on the cards.

imagine a line up of:

C- Krstic (when healthy)
PF- Jermaine
SF- Jefferson
SG- Miller
PG- Kidd (or Harris)

thats not a badly balanced attack if you ask me, could keep us in the hunt for a finals spot

Magloire and Nachbar for Ugly Miller?
WTF, is Memphis having a fire sale/trade?

Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:02 am

Miller? They could get so much more for him. Then again everyone said the same thing about Gasol.

Though we should change the topic title, talks are still going. I would LOL if Van Horn was signed and traded.

Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:25 am

Van Horn is still one of my favourite players, hopefully the Nets give him the minutes he deserves

Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:30 am

We should have tried to get Van Horn into the ASG!

Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:36 am

van horn must be happy as shit right now. if the deal goes down with him involved he will get to sit back and collect a free pay check

I changed it when I first saw the news as it looked like a done deal at the time and I was hoping it would go a little way in preventing a host of threads on the same topic, obviously the title is no longer appropriate so I guess I'll update it again.

I suppose you can't fault George for looking out for his best interests but the strange thing is that not long ago he commented that he'd more or less welcome a trade if he couldn't get more PT in Dallas, though he wasn't asking for a trade outright. He'd likely get that opportunity (albeit in a backup role) in New Jersey so it's a bit puzzling, even considering the situation with his Early Bird rights.

Just to make things even more interesting, Eddie Jones has declared he won't co-operate if he's included in a revised deal, which would seem to be a possibility since the deal supposedly isn't dead. My guess is that it will remain unresolved until after the All-Star break, with Kidd representing the Nets and the East in New Orleans and then assuming the deal doesn't break down completely, going to Dallas at some point next week before the deadline.

think about what affect it has on the players involved

Diop wrote:"I don't care who you are, it's tough. You're a human being, and you don't know if you're going to be here or not."

george's decision is harsh on the players, all the other ones would feel the same, stuck in between two worlds.

Fri Feb 15, 2008 1:07 pm

Diop is one of the nicest guys in the league even if he's a 'banger' in the paint.
Devean George just hurt Diop's feelings, that officially makes George a douchebag.

If I was in charge, I'd let the Nets keep Malik Allen, send them Trenton Hassell instead. Then waive Devean George.

Actually, no, I wouldn't. I wouldn't make a bad trade like this. I'd just waive Devean George and not do the trade.

 he'd probably find some way to block that too

Well, the game on right now is pretty much showing how much Dallas will need Harris come play-offs time. Dirk should be gorging on the fact that the Suns have no Marion to defend him anymore, but instead he's being picked up by two and shooting about 30%. I keep having nightmares of Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Tony Parker and Baron Davis all running around Kidd for 40 points a game. Harris can't defend Davis either, but the first three aren't big problems to him, and plus his penetration makes Dirk a better player compared to his current state these days (i.e., below his standards.)

Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:19 pm

I hope for the Nets' sake that the deal goes through....if I was Nets, I'd want to get rid of an ageing Kidd & get a younger & cheaper & improving Devin Harris....add O'Neal or not, just get Carter out....add Mike Miller, he's a stud....so you've got Harris, Miller, Jefferson, O'Neal & Diop with guys like Williams, Boone, Krstic, Marcus Williams, etc backign them up....for me, out East, that's a playoff team....and it will get better & cap position is better....

if Nets pull off those deals, I'll have to start supporting them again, for the 1st time since they had KVH

Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:49 pm

nets will start krstic when hes healthy over diop, but the issue i think will be how many big men in reserve they have

Fitzy wrote:nets will start krstic when hes healthy over diop, but the issue i think will be how many big men in reserve they have

say Jermaine & Krstic started....you've got 4 capable bigs on the bench....Diop, Sean Williams, Josh Boone & Stormile Swift....that's good depth....

Fri Feb 15, 2008 8:49 pm

thats true, but theyd only have marcus, armstrong an whoever they get from dallas as guards on the bench

Kidd To Mavericks Imminent? Again?

According to Stein, Trenton Hassell and a SAT Keith Van Horn will leave Dallas for New Jersey, replacing Devean George, who vetoed the first proposal, and Jerry Stackhouse, whose mouth also put the first deal in jeopardy.

The complete trade, if approved by the league, would see New Jersey receiving Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, Hassell, Van Horn, two first-round draft picks, and $3 million in cash for Kidd and Malik Allen.

That's perhaps a slightly better deal for New Jersey, though there's still that risk in giving up the younger Harris for Kidd in addition to their backup centre in Diop.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:53 pm

that's an interesting turn of events. Aaron McKie made a splash making the Gasol trade work and now Van Horn?
