Postby Brave Sir Rubin on Sat Nov 30, 2002 2:43 pm

well...WAgner is living up to my expectations...the next Iverson, but even better :)

Tonights Sixers win over the Cavs

Iverson- 29 pts 10/26 1/6 3pt 3 rebs 7 asts 3 stls 43 mins
Wagner- 29 pts 11/26 3/7 3pt 3 rebs 5 asts 1 stls 42 mins

Wagner will defenatly be the best NBA SG (or PG) in a year or two...defenatly my Pick for ROY...

GO WAGNER :)

He was very impressive. He looked like a veteran. He was running all the plays, bringing the ball down and firing (and hitting) threes, running the break with no fear and lokking very much like Iverson. I only see good things in his future.

Pavel? A bandwagoner? Just because he supports like 12 teams and 56 players? You must be kidding...

He is stepping up for the Cavs while Davis and Miles are out. He will continue starting when they return and the Cavs should go pretty good, provided Z stays healthy.

Wagner the best SG in a year or two?

Postby jimmy_da_nail on Sun Dec 01, 2002 6:48 pm

Don't get me wrong, Wagner has got MaD sKiLLs BUT if you're tryin' to say that in two years he gonna be better than T-Mac, Kobe, Vinsanity, and The Answer then thats a little presumptuous.

1. He is always gonna have trouble checking the bigger 2 guards (just like AI does). He'll try and make up for it in other ways but he'll never be able to stem the flow of points. This is especially true when you consider a player like T-Mac who can rape you from the inside-out with his power game in the paint.

2. Hes gonna be fragile and run the risk of an injury prone career when he venture between the big boys in the paint when his jumpshot ain't fallin.

3. You don't become the best overnight........don't expect Wagner to have his real coming out party until at LEAST his third or fourth year. He needs some time to bursh up on his court smarts and thats something only experience can do for a player.

Anyway this is all my OPINION but I would appreciate your feedback.

iverson hight 5'11 at the most
wagner hight 6'3

see any diffrence?

maybe...but i doubt that injuries would stop him...

Wags isn't going to be as fragile as Iverson...he's 2 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.

I'm SO excited for the kid...my Dad and I have been watching him play since high school.

He is like Iverson in a Baron Davis body. I think by the time he reaches his prime he will be a better player than Iverson. He is taller, better shooter and a better passer. He is going to be a real star in the league.

There is no doubt that Wagner is a prodigous talent, however it is slightly premature and perhaps a little unfair on Wagner himself to start inking out how he is going to take the game by storm.

His height is still a factor given that hes giving up 4-5 inches in height to most of the premier 2 guards in the league and T-Mac is almost 6'9".

People said that Stackhouse was the second coming of his Airness (such comparisons are inevitable with any promising shooting guards) and what happened to him? His game suffered with AI's arrival and after being traded away he spent a couple of seasons trying to rediscover his game.
Both performed at a high level when they entered the NBA (not unlike Wagner) and the careers of the two have taken two slighly different directions.

I do believe that Wagner will be a real prime time player in the years to come (his FG% is rather Iverson like whilst his 3PT% is like Ray Allen). Wagner doesn't have Iversons end to end court speed (but then again does anyone?). In saying that he does as you say have a little more size and strength. If the new zone D rules are favoured to shooters then maybe he can build his career on dropping long range bombs, I just wouldn't try it on someone like T-Mac who is a great swatter.

Personally I hope that Wagner goes onto great things, but I believe that greatness is built not on just raw talent (which Wagner has coming out of his ears) but on how you improve those that play around you and how consistently you can put up the numbers to get the W's.

Time will tell how far Wagner is going to go in the NBA.......the best in two years? the jurys out on that one.......one of the best by his third year? most definitely.

That's still giving up some height against the likes of Carter, Kobe, T-Mac, Finley etc.

I don't know, but didn't Shaq make quite an entrance? Maybe Duncan.
Oh and let's not forget Ming who had 30 in his 6th game.

Another good game for Wagner. 25 points,10 assists and 2 boards in 45 minutes. The Cavs got blown out 125-93 by the Knicks.

Actually, Wagner has the potential to do it. If he can become of good of scorer as Iverson (he's a little bit raw in that aspect as of yet), and get half of Iversons fight and desire he could probably match Iverson if not better him. If only because of his size.

He's gonna be at Iverson's level in no time. He's showing signs of it now and he hasn't even played 10 games.

wagner isn't nearly looking as incredible as iverson in his rookie season, not to mention people have forgotten about the ill crossover he put on m.j. his first year...
