congrats, Sauru. finally- this marks the end of "KG will be traded" threads

it was definitely interesting to read marc stein's article about the trade- specifically about how mchale turned down the no.5 pick in an eariler proposed trade.. and how KG previously said he would opt out of boston if he were to be traded there

i like the trade for Boston. there's a lot of pressure on these guys to perform- should be fun to watch. i wonder what kind of offensive schemes Rivers will come up with- they each score in different ways

btw- maes: Phil Jackson was an unknown before the bulls won their first championship. plus Rudy T was more known as the guy Kermit Washington almost killed then a coach. though i'm not exactly giving Doc a ringning endorsement as a championship caliber coach ;)

too bad KG's in the East now:P that's the only drawback i can think of. though i can see the booyah network messing it up and go overkill on celtic coverage

i can't wait for heinsohn to say "i love Gaaahnet"

forget, riot- where's mike davis?

ROFL.

First pick reminds me of bernie mac's retard kid joke from the Kings of Comedy.

AAAHHHH. AAAAAHHHHHHHH. AAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
:proud:

Wed Aug 01, 2007 1:19 pm

that is some huge smile on kg's face
really good to see that... good good
allen & pierce should feel same with garnett coming to boston

but i thought kg was getting paid like a lot... i mean A LOT by A LOT
how are they able to keep those big 3?
aren't they over or close to cap limit already with just big 3?

Wed Aug 01, 2007 1:55 pm

Im really happy for KG.

Heh, idiot.

Anyway, I ran the numbers using last seasons data...last years rotation...Celtics: 30-31 wins.
C- Perkins (65%)/Jefferson (35%)
F- Gomes (55%)/Jefferson (40%)/Powe (10%)/Scalabrine (5%)
F- Pierce (75%)/Green (25%)
G- Allen (70%)/Allen (30%)
G- Rondo (70%)/Telfair (30%)

43 wins
first player = 75% of minutes, second player = 25%
C- Perkins/Kandi
F- Garnett/Powe
F- Pierce/Scalabrine
G- Allen/Allen
G- Rondo/Allen

47-48 wins

How am I an idiot? Maybe I was a bit excited, so maybe posted something stupid in your eyes!! But it doesn't matter what you think!!

Wed Aug 01, 2007 2:42 pm

Im more excited to see the development of Minny - Foye/Jeff/Brewer/Gomes/Green/Mccants - Gonna be exciting stuff!

Anyone else watched KGs retrospective videos on nba.com ?
I almost shed a tear :(
Wish him alot of success

ThaLiveKing, Allstar starting lineups are by position. Ask yourself why Shaq, KG, J.O. and Chris Bosh would be in the same lineup together, and then think about why he would imply that you were an idiot.

I think he was referring to the frontcourt depth of the EC allstars and not the starting line up(at least i hope so)

Yeah but Boston has 3 SUPERSTARS. . take one of them out that leave 2 SUPERSTARS. .

I hope you dont consider Ray Allen a Superstar...

Wed Aug 01, 2007 4:37 pm

You must not understand Ray Allen, because he is most certainly a superstar.

What are your criterias for being a superstar?

I loaded NLSC to find a Garnett discussion thread just to see what Riot's reaction would be. I'm sorely dissapointed. :)

A bonafide all star, a player who can take over a game and dominate with the best of the best, a player who is the unquestioned leader of his team, that is a superstar, and Ray Allen fills all those categories. He's a 7 time all star, he's proven he can completely dominate games. He had career high scoring marks this season and averaged over 28 ppg while Rashard was out with Injury, including a dominating 56 point performance.

He's been the leader of the Sonics since his first day in Seattle, and he's respected everywhere he goes. Ray Allen is a superstar, he's one of the best players in the league, I think he most definitely deserves the title, as do his two new teammates.

Besides the 7 time all star part, that sounds like Michael Redd..Does that make him a superstar? But, I see where you coming from and i like the term "bonafide allstar", because that pretty much describes Allen. I just think you have to make an All NBA team or get some sort of award to even be considered an superstar.

I have a question... why did KG changed his number to number 5? I dont think that there is someone who owns number 21 in Boston... ist it because of his new team and new life? or is there any significance in that number?

and also same question for Allen. although i know he cant use number 34 because Pierce already using that number... why did he picked number 20??

just curious guy here. :?: :?: :?:

CP'ed from the Celtics' official website:

"

I agree that the Celtics need a PG with a good shot more than anything now. I have been a Brevin Knight fan for a long time now, and have always found him very underrated, but I don't believe he is the player they are looking for. He is like a rich man's Rondo today, but in a year ot two, it will be the other way around.

I think the Celtics should look for a good shooter at the Pg position, because they will most likely run their offense through KG. I am thinking someone like Eddie House, Troy Hudson, Earl Boykins or Charlie Bell.

It's a bit harder to see how they'll solve the center-problem, but if Chris Webber wants a championship, he would be a perfect fit. Very good passer, solid rebounder, and a good mid range shooter.

If they could get either Eddie Jones or James Posey to back up Pierce and Allen, it would be great.

I thought we all KNOW about basketball here. . .why would I have to break it down for y'all? It's obvious I'm talking about the Big men in the East. . .And Ray Allen is a Suerstar, who will keep Boston in games with his ability to shoot

Me too. Seriously.

Thu Aug 02, 2007 3:35 am

so people are already saying that webber is going to sign in boston now that kg is there. i personally think they is completly made up crap but if it happened i would be happy with it.

as for the point i will be happy with boykins, well lets be honest, i will be happy with anyone really. the need to go out and fill some spots and if by some miracle they land webber and boykins then the celtics will definetly start looking like the team to beat.

Thu Aug 02, 2007 4:20 am

Looks like Brevin Knight is now on the Celtics' radar. I think he'd be great help, because he's a pass first PG, quite good defensively on the perimeter, but he lacks shooting skills. The shooting part he doesn't need much with 3 guys that will put up 20+ PPG. Should be a good fit for C's.

IMO that's the most important thing outside of actually feeding them the ball (which even the most selfish player would be forced to do). Like Rondo, he would get alot, and I mean alot of open jumpers because of these guys - he has to knock them down.

Thu Aug 02, 2007 4:34 am

Wow, not having the internet for five days and look what I missed...

Celtics' big three are going to kick some serious ass.

He's also a good perimiter defender, something people are saying the Celtics may lack this upcoming season. If they landed Brevin and Webber, they'd certainly be an instant title contender, but of course they don't exactly have a five year window for success.
