How about your mom? From her house to the hospital in 9 months when she is about to deliver my baby I planted in her last night.

BURN.

 That's a sign Riot's feeling a little unsure about his sexua...err, Garnett status in Minny.

Sat Jun 23, 2007 11:33 am

Kobe, eventually.

I think superstar movement only happens if the player really wants it, and so far KG hasn't really voiced major complaints (ever) with his situation and even actively veto'd a likely trade scenario. I think the pain of no ring is eased by $23M a year, and he's a certain Hall of Famer anyway.

Kobe seems plenty pissed w/ his management and been campaigning to leave, and it's not the first time he's exploded. Kobe gets decent endorsement money and seems more concerned with cementing himself as a major player for his time...which will never happen without playoff success.

Kobe may play the entire next season in LA, but once he's got only 1 year left LA will be forced to do something.

the suns need to make a move otherwise they will never reach the finals, they just are not on that level

Not the first time he's been complaining indeed, but I really don't see him move in the end. He just needed some attention to make sure the Lakers management won't be passive when it comes to trading or signing some good players to surround him efficiently.
Even if it's a long shot too, I think KG is more likely to change teams this summer.

I wanted to make this thread a while back...what do you guys think the Suns need to do, if anything, to reach the Finals (where they would most likely win)? Also given the owner wants to trim payroll now that Amare is getting paid?

WRONG.

Garnett has voiced his frustrations over management pretty loudly over the past few years. Just because he hasn't packed his bags and left like everyone else doesn't mean he doesn't want to win a ring. It's just when the going gets tough he doesn't turn his back. You have to remember, Garnett came into the league as this tiny high schooler that nobody believed in besides Kevin McHale and the Timberwolves. Garnett feels as though he owes it to the franchise and the city (that he feels he adopted) to stay here in and win a ring here.

His idol is Kirby Puckett. Puckett spent his entire career in Minnesota even though he got offers from bigger cities in the country. He won two rings here and is beloved by everyone in Minnesota. Garnett wants to be that way, too. He doesn't want to be your typical athlete. He has adopted the state of Minnesota as his own. They are members of this community. It's hard for most people outside the state of Minnesota to grasp. He's Minnesotan now.

Now, just because Garnett doesn't want to go to Boston doesn't mean he would veto any trade. His agent said he prefers to stay in Minnesota but if a trade has to be made he would only want to go to a select few teams. That makes sense, doesn't it? Why in the world would Garnett want to be traded from his home to a place like Boston? They really don't have a legit chance of winning anything, especially if they give up all that just to get him. It would be lateral move. Garnett only wants to be traded if he'll be traded to a legit contender. That doesn't mean he is satisfied with not winning a ring because I know for damn sure he isn't.

he should have WENT!!! this time involving garnett & pierce. another blockbuster trade between celtics & wolves just like previous ricky davis & wally szcerbiak kind of trade, which wasnt really helpful to any sides. lol... anyways no wonder kg didn't wanna go boston. if he's gotta go, i wish he goes to denver. would be nice to see superstars stacked team. sad itz not likely to happen tho...

Sauru wrote:the suns need to make a move otherwise they will never reach the finals, they just are not on that level

definitely! nash-amare as a core. no major trade expected. not sure about marion, since he wants 2 leave phx. wish suns could get a inside/mid-range defensive presence outta the trade while diaw fills in nicely for marion's spot.

if you make that thread i will be all over it, kinda interested in it, i however dont want to hi-jack this thread for it.

also i kinda hope kg does go to phoenix, i like the guy and he deserves atleast 1 legit shot at a ring

oh c'mon.. don't even make it look like no one wanted Garnett when he declared for the draft. yeh yeh there hadn't been a high schooler to pros lottery pick in some time. whatever. kudos to mchale for making the pick. his one and only good move lol

Gimme a break, who hasn't "voiced complaints to management". Every player in the league has complained from Jordan to Bird to Brent Barry to Damon Jones to Jerome James.

There's a difference between complaining that your team should be winning, and publically forcing a trade by going to the media over the management's head. That's a rare move only done by Artest, Iverson, and Kobe.

KG's situation is obviously management driven, not KG driven. If KG was demanding this why did he have no idea that the Boston deal was going on? He had to veto it in the middle of negotiations.

KG is not driving this process.

"He's very unhappy," the person said of Garnett. "He's being shopped, and he's being shopped heavily." Newsday

People were high on the kid but they all thought he was too young and too thin. The funny thing is before the draft McHale and Flip Saunders were telling everyone in front of the team to pick Garnett because they wanted Rasheed or Stackhouse. After they had a workout with Garnett they were amazed by him they hoped their strategy didn't work.

And maes, I'm not sure why you are quoting me but I don't think I ever said Garnett is forcing a trade. I just said over the past few years he has gotten more and more vocal about the lack of help he has. He is obviously growing more and more frustrated as time goes on here, but I still feel he is loyal to the franchise and state.

Mon Jun 25, 2007 11:26 am

he has been one of the more loyal players in recent nba history i would say. that of course only includes players in bad situations, players like duncan are loyal but not in the same catagory as a garnett for obvious reasons.

Kobe is going to go! Likely to Chicago! KG is staying wit the wolves!

New info on a trade in the works?

Mike Bresnahan of The Los Angeles Times writes that "A multi-team trade discussion is underway involving the Lakers, Indiana, Minnesota and possibly a fourth team, with the Lakers getting Garnett and the Pacers getting Lamar Odom and teenage center Andrew Bynum from the Lakers. Another minor player will likely be added to make the deal work financially."

Hmmm..very interesting. Does that mean Oneal will go from Indy to Minny?

Tue Jun 26, 2007 7:50 am

this trade is possible, but probably wont happen

lakers get garnett
twolves get radman, evans, murphy, tinsley, #19
pacers get odom, bynum

ESPN News just reported, according to Jim Grey, that this deal is "almost done":

Lakers get: Garnett
Twolves get: Al Jefferson and 5th Pick
Pacers get: Odom and Bynum
Boston gets: Jermaine O'Neal (WTF???!!!)

Now, of course, that's just the gist of it because the salaries wouldn't work.

IDK how true this is...Jim Grey is talking as if it's extremely close to happening.

One thing is for sure: Danny Ainge is officially a fucking retard if this goes down.

Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:18 am

Yeah, Boston beter be getting more than just Jermaine. Look fair for the Pacers, Wolves and Lakers, but I really don't understand why Ainge would do that. I don't think even Kevin McHale would do that if he was in Ainge's seat.

Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:43 am

Wow. This is. Wow.

If it happens. Wow.

Garnett can't close out games, Kobe's punkass can do that for LA. He best stop moaning like a bitch now. :x

Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:48 am

Danny Ainge is genius. Instead of rebuilding the mess that he's in he trades away probably his biggest asset for the future and a potential cornerstone player for the Celts while acquiring another massive contract next to Pierce. Yippey.

Edit: I'd love to play Indiana on NBA Live if this trade went down.
