@Isaiah
"he has a no trade clause, but he has the right to waive it."
Huh?! He has a NO trade clause?! Okay.. He doesnt have a TRADE CLAUSE..
BUT
He HAS the right to waive it?!
How will he waive what is not there?! U make no sense...
@1cent
Wow.. I didn't know there was a MILM in the Lakers Roster

You look like an idiot trying to flame people. A "no-trade clause" means the team cannot trade him without his consent. That means he can accept or decline deals. If he likes a particular deal, he will waive the clause, so he can be traded.

LMAO
Also, weren't you a Hawks fan like a month ago?

his words now..thers also an audio file of his interview

man, what little respect for Kobe that i did have is completely gone.
Thu May 31, 2007 8:37 am
^^ Why? Cause the Lakers are using him as a pawn??? And Kobe doesn't want to be taken advantage of
Thu May 31, 2007 11:15 am
Thanks for the audio links, I only heard a snippet of it from the news.
It's weird how Kobe is saying different things. He wants to be traded, he wants to be a Laker for life. Sounds like he is confused.
Thu May 31, 2007 11:28 am
He said he wants to be a Laker for the rest of his career after he spoke with phil Jackson.
From what I understand, Kobe said he wanted to be traded and he seemed very upset and confused during the interview. Then he spoke to Phil Jackson and that seemed to put everything in perspective for Kobe. Kobe wants to win, but he loves the Lakers franchise. I think Phil spoke some sense into him and reassured him that this doesn't have to be the end of his career as a Laker.

cant believe i am defending kobe but, why is everyone on such a witch hunt with this guy? how many players say they want out then make things right? happens atleast a dozen times per season.

Aside from Kobe's status as one of the best players in the league which is guaranteed to draw as much criticism as adulation, I think a lot of people enjoy the notion of heroes and villians in sports and that means a handful of prominent players are doing to be cast as the bad guys for one reason or another.
I think it's a story worthy of the attention it's receiving though. When a huge star like Kobe talks about wanting out, it's going to turn a few heads and getting people talking. The conflicting reports and Kobe's own statements that have expressed irreconcilable stances on wanting to be traded (wanting out unless West comes back, wanting out if the right moves aren't made, wanting out no matter what and wanting to remain a Laker for life) leave us wondering what's really going on.

i think its the fashion of the trade request(s), more so than the trade request itself.

Some Big words right here:
latimes wrote:The morning began with a startling declaration from L.A.'s most recognizable athlete, a demand by Kobe Bryant on a radio show that he wanted to be traded from the Lakers.
latimes wrote:Then, late in the afternoon, Bryant told The Times that, sorry for the confusion, but he still wanted to be traded.
latimes wrote:"I'm still frustrated. I'm waiting for them to make some changes."
latimes wrote:"I would like to be traded, yeah," he told ESPN radio. "As tough as it is to say that, as tough as it is to come to that conclusion, there's no other alternative. They obviously want to move in a different direction as far as rebuilding.
"I just want them to do the right thing…. At this point, I'll go play on Pluto right now."
and yeah some good interviews with Kobe:

Wow, I can't wait to see what happens - I love big trades!
No mather what, something big is bound to happen this summer - either the Lakers trade Kobe, or make a major move to keep him happy. It would take a JO or KG-like player for that to happen, one of them and a point guard that doesn't suck would make the Lakers contenders.
So, where do you guys think he could end up? I would love to see the Blazers make a move for him - Zach Randolph + anyone but Greg Oden would be a good deal for both teams I think.
Kobe + Greg Oden = Grusom as a Blazer fan.

It looks like we could have a big summer like 04. Names like Carter, Kobe, Jermaine O'Neal, Garnett, Kidd. Looking very good.
