MVP Cantidates.

Well, I know it's early, but the MVP race will be interesting this year, most of the teams that are going to be in the playoffs (top teams) have either one or more good players carrying the team. (Cept for Duncan) You think Duncan will get it again? Since he will have to carry that team. The other teams will be carried by the number of good players they have. Lets have a look at the MVP Cantidates team by team, and then its upto you guys to tell me who you think will get the award.

Now, looking at the list, all the top teams (obvious which those are by now I hope) have atleast 2 top players, excepting SA( & ORL in a way ).

So do you think Tim Duncan will get it again, IMO Tracy McGrady could give him some competition, if his team is a top one in the East and if Hill doesnt make a comeback.

probably Duncan...he's already won two straight so there's no point in stopping...but i'd put T-Mac,Kobe(if not in jail),Pierce,Iverson as candadiates for next year's MVP award...

Not to forget KG though, i think his scoring will drop slightly but his assists should go up a notch cuz his teammates should be scoring more then last year, his rebounding numbers will stay about the same i think(spree and wally arent much of rebounders anyway)

KG could also get more points due to having a better passing pg in Cassell. But then again, he once said a perfect game for him would be 10 points 6 assists 12-15 boards, 3 blocks and 2 steals (or something along those lines.) So he could easily go both ways.

I don't think KG's point production will increase, when he was the only option on offense, he averaged around 20-21 points per game, now with Wally, Cassel AND Spree, I doubt he'll be scoring more than 20-25 points per game, I agree on that one Shep, I wanted KG to be mvp last season too.

He averaged 23 ppg as the first option last season, I expect he'll have a similar average this season.

My picks would be KG, Duncan and T-Mac. KG has more help this year, but his individual brilliance will still be apparent. Duncan is always going to be an MVP candidate, but they might shy away from giving him the award three years in a row.

T-Mac is in a situation similar to MJ in 1988 - a good, not great team, capable of winning but not a championship contender. He's also the brightest star on the team, and the defending scoring champion. Remember, MJ won the MVP award in 1988 even though the Bulls didn't have the best record in the league. If the Magic improve on last season's seeding and T-Mac has a great season, I wouldn't be surprised to see him named MVP.

I think Shaq is going to destroy everyone he plays next year. Because of his legal troubles, I think Kobe is going to be a bit bashful while choosing his shots. His image has already suffered a lot and I don't think he'd like to be labeled as a selfish player at this point. Malone and Payton will defer to Shaq and having Malone play with Shaq will make it next to impossible to double Shaq with a power forward and no small forward or guard is going to bother Shaq so Shaq will be going one on one against his opponents and there's no one left in the league who can even come close to putting up a good fight against Shaq.

its a three man race between duncan, kg, and tmac. if i td hadnt won it twice in a row it'd go to him in a nutshell, so if td wants it again he will have to maybe raise his point production a bit and assist production by 0.5 or 1 to make them give it to him. there is no doubt he will carry san antonio again. on the other hand a healthy tmac is scary. and kg is brilliant. if either wants it they will have to raise their games to even another level, because if duncan, kg, and tmac just play at the same level they did last year it isnt logical that duncan would lose out this one.

T-MAC has a good chance of winning the MVP this coming season if they are at least in the top four in the east and second if he stays healthy and play all 82 games.

as much as i hope duncan bags it again this year, i don't really see that happening. i've got a feeling kg's gonna be mvp the upcoming season

jerry sloan should get coach of the year and mvp of the league if he manages to get utah in the playoffs
