haha, Ben wallace actually is getting more touches in the post in Chi than in Detroit.....except everytime he makes a move he damn near shatters the backboard with his shots.

I'd say Tayshaun Prince, i love the pistons and every now and then he gets indisde touches but not that often, i think he should be used because he creates such a mis-match with his Size, length and mobility also a great shot so i think he's a tough cover and is too under-used too often

So yeah, it matters to me as a basketball fan.
The point still remains to score the ball with the highest possible percentage. If that means using your "giant butt to push his defender to the floor and dunk", then so be it. Great coaches like Jackson & Riley saw the effectiveness of the move.
Besides, to generalize Shaq's game and say he's got one move only, pathetic to say the least. He's got one of the best footwork in the league. He's very nimble for a man his size, he's also a great passer yet you've just gotten stuck by that one move because you just don't like him. Duncan, whom you seem to enjoy watching, has noted his respect for Shaq not to mention a gazillion other players, but what do they know? Shaq just uses his ass to push people over.
That's exactly the reason why Robert Tractor Traylor is such a superstar in the league. It's all about being fat, but ofcourse. Dude, you are a genius. Thanks for opening my eyes.

In time I'd like to see Tyrus Thomas get more touches. He's probably good for six to eight points per game on lobs alone, if the ball is thrown up there he's likely to go get it. He's also shown other flashes of other offensive weapons I'd like to see him develop.

i gotta agree with asdf here and go with howard. just like he said he can score and ha sa ok average but his shot attempts are pretty low imo for someone of his tallent. they need to work him more.

I'd agree with that. Just from watching the Suns/Spurs, you can sort of see that Amare has worked a lot on his jumpshot and free-throws. I dont know who his shooting coach is, but i think Tyrus should definitely look into working with them.

I'm glad the Diesel gives you boners.
I was just expressing a personal opinion, but since it apparently struck a nerve in your manhood, I'll light a couple of candles and sing a few praises in your honor.
From now on, I'll be sure to PM you first before posting, I certainly need your great wisdom to approve my words.

Azubuike-He was playing very well and put up 10-15 points a night.
Jalen Rose-He isn't getting any minutes in Phoenix at all.

Some of these guys fall under the "never used" category. I think the point of this thread was to examin which players, who are getting PT are not having their offensive skills maximized.
Sun May 20, 2007 3:37 am
One guy that really needs some more touches and a little more development is Nene, he really came on strong when he was put in the rotation. He has a natural presence in the post when he receives the ball. With Iverson and Carmelo it is really difficult for him to get the ball. I think that if the Nuggets ran some high post stuff of Nene, it would open up tons of things.

Haha. I haven't seen a post make someone look like such a fool like this in a long time.
If you try to state a fact that is wrong and idiotic, don't try to pass it off as a personal opinion when it gets shoved back up your ass.

Oh go shove a dyke up your ass. You conveniantly ran for cover with the "it's my opinion, stop picking on me" post.
Man up & admit you're full of shit saying Shaq's only got one move. Don't turn this around in to me being a bad guy and not respecting people's opinions, yours didn't happen to be an opinion, you tried passing it off as a fact. "Shaq has one move, using his ass." Not an opinion, it's a general statement.
Also very cute you're insinuating I'm gay by watching Shaq, really strong arguments for your "opinion".
Don't bother PM'ing me, my inbox has a "full of shit" filter.

We need less shots from Iverson and more from Nene, he is money down on the low post

So replying to someone thinking Shaq is underused that I'm personally happy about that if he actually is, because I find his offensive game boring and monotone, that's "wrong and idiotic"? well, that's good to know...

I'm guessing your 1000s of posts here give you the right to consider things like that as blasphemy and reply in the most condescending way.
No it's not a general statement, unlike you I don't pretend to possess universal wisdom and knowledge.
And drop the "you're trying to be the victim and make me look like the bad guy" line, that's a bit too easy. So basically, you reserve the right to flame anyone who says anything you don't agree with, and then use "oh so now you're upset because I'm obnoxious, you should just stop whining and man up" card. Who the flying fuck do you think you are? you're not addressing a 15 yo kid here, I'm pretty sure I can express my opinions without having to think if it's alright with the great Jackal.
Also very cute you're insinuating I'm gay by watching Shaq, really strong arguments for your "opinion".
Well boo-fucking-hoo, take it like a man and grow a pair of balls (trying your method here, is it working?).
Sun May 20, 2007 3:00 pm
Really all it comes down to is that you are totally wrong about Shaq, and when you say ignorant things about one of the best Centers that's ever played in an NBA forum, you are going to get ripped for it. You are the one that turned this in to a personal battle with Jackal with your stupid remarks in the first place. Instead of debating with him you copped out and said it was an opinion, when it wasn't. Saying his game is boring is one thing, but to say he only has one move is dumb, and cannot be passed off as an opinion.

Well, if you don't mind I'll still pass it off as my opinion, based on seeing Shaq in action since he started in the league. While I'll admit that he improved his foot works, dribbling, passing and lecture of double teams over the years, I still don't think he has more than 3 moves to offer when it comes to actual scoring.
There's no personal battle at all, if my knowledge of basketball is being questioned because of one comment I make, I'm certainly not gonna keep myself from defending my opinion.
I didn't change my first post into an opinion, it already was, but for future reference, you guys should probably mention in the forum rules if a "IMO", "personally" or "as far as I'm concerned" is necessary before any type of comment, I guess that could avoid conflicts.
But I'm also wondering: if you guys already know the unquestionable truth to all and everything NBA-related ("you are totally wrong", "say ignorant things",...), maybe a long thread made with all these divine facts should be stickied to inform and convince those not fortunate enough to possess such knowledge.

i think what he is saying is not that it isn't okay to have and voice your own opinion, which you are certainly entitled to, but rather that, if you are to be taken seriously, you should have reasons to support your argument; this is this, because... etc., etc.. and from there discussion can ensue.

I certainly agree with that, but in this particular situation, my point is: if you're gonna try to ridicule me for my comment, at least show me how I'm wrong about Shaq not possessing a vast arsenal of offensive moves, don't just keep saying "he is one of the best centers ever", "he's the most dominating...blah blah...". I know all that shit, it still doesn't make him a player with many different scoring moves, that's all I'm saying and apparently it's too much for some to handle.
Sun May 20, 2007 7:48 pm
It's not too much to handle. What's too much to handle is you saying:
Shaq has one move, he uses his ass.
Now you're saying, okay, he can do a bit more. I've already won this "debate". Bye bye.

Quote from my first post about this:
he's been doing the same 2 or 3 moves every game for 15 years now
You see, basic arithmetic teaches us that 2 or 3 are actually > than 1.
But congratulations for winning the debate, your mom will be proud.
Bye bye.

what exactly do you want shaq to do? cross over defender? start jacking up 3's? maybe use speed insteaf of strength to get inside? when you are the biggest guy in the league you dont have to learn any of that and there is nothing wrong with it. if you could learn 1 move so well that even though everyone knew you were going to do it they still could not stop it, why would you do anything else? kareem is one of the best players ever and a great example of a player who could do 1 thing so well, no one could stop it, even when they knew it was coming before he did. never been a fan of shaq but if i was his size i would do the same damn thing as him.
Mon May 21, 2007 9:42 am
Good point, I'm not saying that Shaq should have never used his brute strength in the first place and tried to play somebody else's game, he's doing what he's the best at.
I'm just saying that during all these years, it'd have been interesting to see him try to master a little mid-range jump shot for example, from more than 5 feet away. I'm not saying that he should have had Hakeem's turnaround jumpshot or Sabonis 3pt shot, and I know that the ball is pretty much a grapefruit in his hands, but still...There's a lot of big guys out there with soft hands, and nobody will convince me that he's one of them.
Anyway, my point was only that his lack of offensive moves bores me, that's all, I don't see what there's to discuss about it, everyone's entitled to an opinion I believe.
Mon May 21, 2007 9:58 am
from day one i thought should have learned that baby hook from about 10 feet away as he can get to 10 feet from the hoop without even trying. if he truely had mastered that he might be considered the best center ever, maybe.
Mon May 21, 2007 10:45 am
Kelenna Azubuike as Shannon said earlier...
Shawn Marion should be high among those under utilized. Diaw this year as well. Elton Brand doesn't get nearly enough shots for his talent. LaMarcus Aldridge wasn't played nearly enough until the latter part of the season, and then he had that heart issue.
I'll throw out a surprising name. Ben Wallace. I know he's not an amazing talent offensively, but he's a big man, and he can finish dunks. He wouldn't be the "black hole" he is offensively if the Bulls utilized him at least a little bit on offense to keep the defense honest.

what about jalen rose? huh? huh?
