Cavaliers lose to Celtics because of awful call at 1.9 sec?

I'm furious, if you didnt see the game: The CAVS/Celtics were tried with 5 seconds to go in regulation. The celtics took it down the court, and gerald green? I believe it was (not sure) slipped going to the basket, and they called a trip on varejao with 1.9 left resulting in 2 free throws, both made, game over.

Varejao DID NOT EVEN TOUCH HIM! He fell on his own tripping over is own 2 feet. Any time a team loses because of a call it isnt right, these officials should not be in another NBA game, the job they did was awful. In a critical game that the cavs needed, everything on the line, you DO NOT call ANYTHING unless you're 100% sure it's a foul.

I'm in disbelief, if I knew where these officials live I'd go over there right now and cause them hell.

The video high lights of course dont show the critical foul, maybe ESPN will :\

I just am so sick of the NBA and poor officials, it always seems the officials know who they have their money on before the game and they make sure that team wins. The NBA needs to do something about this, especially one causing this critical loss that shouldnt of been.

I don't blame them for sitting LeBron down, he came off of a tough road trip, he had some extremely hard fouls, especially at chicago. Including one where his head smashed the floor, he just took abuse during the trip. (it was because of a sore body not just knee)

We should of won without LeBron anyway, they played a little sluggish though - but the game still was decided by one call and that's ridiculous. (this could make the cavs go down to fifth place and finish the season behind chicago by 1/2 game which would of been this game)

The fact is that there are only 2-3 refs on the court watching 10 guys go at it in a loud and colorful environment. And once the whistle is blown, there is really no way of taking that back, its usually foul or travelling at that point.

With all the movement and speed that the NBA game has and all the guys on the court its sometimes very hard to tell what really happened...

Being a referee in any game is a thankless job... If someone likes your call others will hate you for it, its just the way it goes. And complaining about calls or non-calls and saying that the refs decided the game is just not the case. There are way more missed open shots than there are bad calls from the refs. If Cleveland could have hit one more three or made one less bad pass, the game could have been won then and there.

It's not like the refs are out there to get someone... They are merely human as the rest of us are... Mistakes will happen. Bad plays and bad shots and pourous defense loses games... Ref calls usually don't matter at all in comparison...

If you lose like this... You just didn't play good enough! Plain and simple. Ref had nothing to do with it... If LeBron had played, Cleveland would have probably won the game easily, due to made shots and better offensive output in general.

If it was that big of a game then Lebron would have played. I don't care if he is sore or banged up because a lot of people are and they still play. You don't think Kobe Bryant gets beat up? What about Kevin Garnett? They all get get banged up and beat up when they play. Yet, if it was as big of a game as you said it was they would have suited up.

This call decided the game, with 1.9 seconds left you do not make a call you arent sure of. This was obviously the wrong call, and it cost the game, no question.

I'm not saying the cavs would of won for sure if they would of made the right call which they didn't. But they would of got a final possession to try to make the last shot, and if they missed it would of went into OT, and there's a good chance we would of won OT.

Yep... like the infamous non-travel call in Lebron's favor. That was just horrid officiating.

To be completely honesst though, the NBA has the worst officials of perhaps any league. Yeah, the action is quicker, but that doesn't excuse them. There are so many bad calls, it's just ridiculous. And then you have Ronnie Nunn on NBA TV to make BS excuses as to why these plays are correct...

^^In response to this, the 'good calls' are actually another name for the 'correct calls' which the officials should be making. So if they are making 'good calls', then they are just doing their job.

In response to this thread, there are bad calls everyday. Stop whining. It happens to every team, surprise surprise. They just don't go out making threads on every one at the end of the game.

To be fair, the main reason why LeBron didn't play was because of tendonitis in his right knee. I'm not sure how severe it is but if its anything like mine and my team is playing the worst team in the league, I figure I can sit because we should be able to scrape through anyway. Tendonitis is a real bitch, I'm not suprised he sat.
