The Beginning of this season looks better than last year, the Hornets have found a Point Guard. Chris Paul, R.O.Y, in 2006 prepares to challenge the best of west, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, and Baron Davis. Now, however, the Hornets young gun is in a after-practice shooting contest with Desmond Mason and David West. He takes a hundred bucks from the Journeyman Small Forward, Mason, and a $150 from the senior power forward. After practice he is watching tape with coach Byron Scott, and the other gaurds, Bobby Jackson, Jannero Pargo, Peja Stojakovic, Rasual Butler, and Devin Brown. We caught up with Paul there.
Q. How far are you going to go this year?
A. Far, if we play as a team, you know play as the name on the front not on the back.
Q. Your good friend J.R. Smith was traded last year, do you still keep up with him?
A. J.R.s a great guy, and we still talk now and then, but its pretty far to Denver
Q. How is Hilton Armstrong coming along?
A. He's a beast on the boards and real great to play with. Its hard for him to 'cause he is a rookie, but we go easy on him.
Q. Easier than they were on you?
A. Oh yeah!
Well thanks for your time.
Thank you.
Walking out of the building we ran into the GM of the team. He gave us his opinion on the team's progress.
"Well, were going to pick up two or three sharpshooters, through trading. We really need some guys to knock down the open shots. Paul's passing is no good if we can't hit a shot. Stojakovic is our only three-point threat."
Any names for us?
"We're looking into Kyle Korver, from philly. Mason is not the best shooter, and him and Korver would be a great change of pace. We are also talking with Orlando into giving us J.J. Redick and Pat Garrity, both fantastic shooters, for a combination including Bobby Jackson and Rasual Butler. Butlers expressed a desire to be traded."
When will these deals get done?
"Most likely within the pre-season, but we are going to be shopping for a shooter at Small Forward and Power Forward well into January."
Thank you for your time.

Reports from the front office of the New Orleans Hornets revealed that the Hornets have traded Bobby Jackson and Marc Jackson to the Philadelphia 76s for Kyle Korver and Bobby Jones. If the players pass their physicals, this is a done deal.

A source close to the Orlando Magic reported that the Magic and the New Orleans Hornets have agreed on a deal that would bring Devin Brown and Marcus Vinicius to Orlando. The Magic would send rookie J.J. Redick, Pat Garrity and James Augustine westward to New Orleans. Brown had allegly been complaining about his roster spot in New Orleans and was eager to get out. New Orleans now has aquired four of the best shooters in the NBA. Pat Garrity, at power forward, JJ Redick at Shooting Guard, Peja Stojakovic at shooting guard and Kyle Korver at small forward. Thats a lot of shooting talent in New Orleans, so watch out.
