P.S. Don't EVER edit dbf files with Excel!!!EVER!!!

I dont think anyone is trying to EDIT dbf files with Excel... just using Excel as a means of sending attributes.....

http://rapidshare.com/files/16064388/ratings.xls.html

I dont think there's any EDITING of dbf being done with this... Just a reference to edit the dbf file with...

ajcanale, what i was try'n to say is that all players have ratings in the range 88-99!!!If you think this is real - OK!I thouth that all that needs to be done is rate the last arond hundred players, but i was wrong! If i have to edit all players and give them accurate ratings, fix their bodys, colors etc. i will need at least 1 month! With all the exams i have i don't think i'll have time! But i'll do my best when i have time! (Y)

P.S. Later tonight i'll pload the fixed roster! No more players with black heads and white bodys!

xox- You are 100% percent right, 88-99 is way too high. This roster is shit, and needs to be started over from scratch.

I spoke with Dirtdog1 on MSN last night, and asked him these three questions:

1) The reason for all the errors is someone at one time did edit the .dbf files using excel, and that is why it's all messed up. He said we should start the roster all over again, because there is no telling what got messed up while excel attempted to close out the .dbf files.

2) The ratings for a good playable roster:
He told me that a rating of 70-75 for the star players, with the best players tipping at close to 80 would be realistic. Bench scrubs can be rated as low as the 15-25.

3) I asked him what does he use to edit files and would he help us out:
He stated that he started work with Ck on the 2005 Mod, but Ck chose to switch to his own project for Live 2006, and he told Ck that he would help out with Live 2006 when he finished with the 2005 roster. He said he would be finished with that roster this weekend, and might lend us a hand on this one. He doesn’t have 2006 installed, but would re-install it if we was serious on making this roster. He wanted me to send him a copy of what we have done so far.
Dirtdog1 uses DBF Viewer 2000 to edit the roster files.

yeah but if we have 10 people doing rosters then that won't work, what i think is a good rebounder i might put at 68, AJC might put him at 89. and if the rosters are that different...

You are right, that is why first we would have to set a list of ratings guidelines for each of the 10 people to go by.

Who edited? Dirtdog1 didn't edit it. He said somewhere down the line, someone edited them with excel.
My guess would probably be Ck?

there has really not been any progress because it is impossible to make a roster when everyone's opinions on un-ratable attributes differ...

This lack of progress has been disappointing , especially for me and other fans who are very eager to see these players in game. If there are any roster problems with the mod , I will do the best I can to resolve these issues and put the mod "back up and running" , it would be a real shame if a great idea for a mod like this tanked because of disagreements. Good News.

Postby mattholmes30 on Wed Mar 07, 2007 1:09 pm

Here's the deal. I bought NBA Live 2006 so I can assist with the development of this mod. I do the NCAA Mod's for Madden 2006 and would love to see this completed. If you are interested in the following...I will release for download this week in time for March Madness.

1. Updated Rosters, Numbers, Weight, Height, Skin Color for all teams
2. No Cyberfaces
3. I found that the only crashes I am experiencing were due to the courts.rar file not containing all courts. It only has about 26 courts. If someone could complete a general NCAA Court I could make that the default court for teams that do not have a court to save time.
4. Average player ratings based on my knowledge of college hoops. This will NOT be Perfect...But if you're like me you can sacrifice to be playing the mod THIS MARCH MADNESS!

All in all, I am excited to say that you will have a NCAA BBall mod to play for tourney time. Not perfect, but playable.

Please email me at mattholmes30@cableone.net if you would like my playable roster or if you have completed any teams, courts, etc. so I can release a compreshensive work in progress!

Thanks!

Why don't you guys just make a simple ratings system, and worry about details later?

For instance, you could make players individual ratings like this, just to get it playable. Then you could start tweaking them more once they are all done.

Poor - 40
Below Average - 50
Average - 60
Above Average - 70
Good - 80
Excellent - 90

ammer, i know how hard and annoying it can be. believe me, i did alot before realizing that we would not ust ch2k7 ratings...

why dont you try to use mm07 ratings? they are likely to be much more acurate as ea sports made both games. ategories are also likely to be similar...

just throwing it out there, if you don't have time i completely understand

They both played for the Duke Blue Devils

If you would like to know which college individual players attended, just visit one of the more popular sports websites (ESPN, FOX Sports) and click on the players name, and more than likely it will tell you where they played college ball; plus so other useful information.

Sorry for my ignorance. I downloaded the available files that ck left for us to download and then received the roster file from Matthughes. I think I've put all the files in the correct location based on the readme in the file I downloaded from ck's last post. But, when I try to view any rosters, teams or anything when trying to set up a tournament or play a game, there's nothing there. I can see all the loading screens for NCAA and stuff, but can't play any games when I try to load the NCAA roster.

I can't find the file indicated in the readme called "NCAA0607" that is supposed to be placed in the Saves folder. Could that be causing my problem? Any help with an installation tutorial, the steps to take to make NCAA playable with the existing files available for download, or anything else, it would be greatly appreciated. It's been awhile since I installed anything for NBA Live - I'm a little rusty. Has anyone had luck playing NCAA? Are the players now looking correct (not all white bald guys, etc)? How does it play? Thanks!

I was actually able to see the NCAA rosters and play a game after restarting NBA live. The only problem I seem to be having now is playing a "Sweet Sixteen" tourney. I can't see any teams and can't load any teams using the left/right arrow buttons when trying to play in Tournament mode with the NCAA roster and files. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
