I came accross this picture, and the caption was "This would have been funnier if it was 2004" or someting like that.



Anyone remember this picture or whats going on? Two teams, one huddle?

I remember back in 2000 when KG was on the Men's Olympic team. The US team had a big big lead that would have been impossible to overcome by the opposing team. So with just a few remaining minutes, the players on the floor for the opposing team decides to huddle. KG and another guard (can't remeber who, maybe pierce and malone?), decides to walk over and join in in the huddle. Anyway, whatever your pic is about, it was probably just for kicks...

Looks like only Carter is in the huddle, maybe more on the other side, but my bet is he just came in the huddle to joke around.

My guess is that it would've been funnier in 2004 (opposed to say now...) because back in 2004, Carter was still a Raptor.

Since when do NBA teams huddle up at midcourt and plan "quick play[s]"? Last I checked, the coach calls the play from the sideline. In addition, there's a cameraman on the court.

Ummm I'm pretty sure you can't just go into another teams huddle and listen to their gameplan and they can't do anything about it. I have never seen it happen before, and to be honest I don't know what the fuck Vince is doing there, but it definitely isn't a timeout-call-a-play huddle, because nobody does that at halfcourt...

That's true, you can't join an opposing team's huddle during a timeout. However, I remember reading about a Timberwolves/Bucks game a few years back when George Karl, out of timeouts, called an impromptu huddle on the sideline during a dead ball in the waning seconds. KG joined in the huddle, saw the play that was quickly drawn up and the Timberwolves knew what was coming as a result.

Well, the only "bullshit" thing he said is "at the time" because VC played like shit, demanded a trade and told the opposing team their final play but it was later, like 2004. EDIT: just read Flite_23's whole post and he said 2004 so what's the pile of stinking bullshit you're talking about?

Nope, it's from the Knicks-Raptors series from either the 2000 or 2001 playoffs, which were both before Sept. 11th 2001.

actually it is totally legal for a player to join an opposing team's huddle as long they DIDNT call a time out. for example.... after timeouts you will often see teams huddle together before one player goes to the sideline and inbound the ball. maybe you dont see teams huddle in the middle of court cuz the game is probably on commercials since they show commercials every timeout. there are many instances when stuff like this happens. iono if the picture above is exactly this case and im making assumptions too but im sure thats what it is. im actually surprised that no one here ever seen stuff like this happen before

As unprofessional as he was through the situation, he is still a very good player. He wanted out of Toronto specifically, and he is now happy in New Jersey. If a team can get a player of his level and keep him happy, they get alot more postivies out of it than negatives. He only did it to help force the trade, and it obviously worked because he was traded two days later.

As a Vince fan yourself I'm actually very shocked you never heard about it. Search it in Google and I'm sure you will find plenty of articles.
