I agree with everything you said, no doubt, I don't think he compares to Shawn Marion, two different styles, and jumpshot lol. But I people all over are saying Pacers are trying to trade for Corey Magette Now. . .For Dunleavy. . don't his father coach the Clips? Could be used as bait lol

interesting!!!

hmmm interesting trade, i thought Al was going to stick around in Indiana. Stephen Jackson has finally been dealt after his off court incidents. Id say GSW got the best of this trade but Diogu looks like a good player for the future maybe the Pacers are rebuilding.

I´m in barcelona and i´m very drunk right now, but i think i can stil give my 2 cents very quickly before i go clubbing.

i found out about this trade right before it ended up happening, and i´ve changed my opinion 4 or 6 times since.

the trade was basically thisñ¨:

al for diogu
jackson for dunleavy
sarunas for murphy
powell for mcleoud

i am a huge diogu fan, and i have been for a long time. it was starting to become apparent that the jermaine and al 1'2 punch was not going to work. i was definitley open to trading al, so i like this part of the deal.

jackson for dunleavy is horrible in my opinion. obviously dun is overpaid. i don´t think he is as bad as golden state fans will tell you. he is a verry good offensive player, but equally poor on the defensive side. in this part of the deal we upgrade as far as the lockerroom and basketball iq goes, but we decline drastically defensively, stay about even offensively. i am sad to see jack go, he was playing very well this season. i saw jackson being traded this week because attendance has been very low for the last couple days. i new the pacers front office was going to move him during the season, and i don´t mind taking on dunleavy when it brings us diogu.

sarunas for murphy i absolutely love. murphy is a fantastic rebounder, i don´t care what any of you say. both dunleavy and murphy are great for a rick carlisle coached team and horrible for a nellie coached team. i look for both of them to do well under rick. i´ve always loved muprhys game, and i think he´ll do well here. i had given up on sarunas as a fit for the pacers, but i wish him well in golden state. i´ve been asking for his minutes to be given to orien greene for some time now.

that is another positive of this deal. orien greene, marquis daniels and danny granger will all get more time. i like that alot.

we lose horribly in the powell for mcleoud part of the deal. powell will be a good player in 3 or 4 more years.

overall i´m not thrilled nor am i pissed off. i´m so drunk i cant type no more. you´re lucky you got this muc.

possibly more tomorrw on this.

ok i read somemore you are so lucky you get a bit more i have to say.

this is not a move to rebuild, this is a move to let jermaine be even more of a force. look at the contracts of murphy and dunleavy. you think we are going to rebuild with 2 guys who have massive contracts through 2011 with out a first round pick in 07? stop smoking so much crack.

wegoin to be ok .

I wouldn't be optimistic about trading basically Harrington and Jax for Dunleavy and Murphy talent-wise, but if they can make it work chemistry-wise, then I think Indiana could have a good deal in the end. That is, if it works out.

Warriors got the better end of the deal no doubt and good for me since it's my home team.
Troy Murphy is just the white version of Al Harrington. Both can hit the 3 ball, average rebounder, and inconsistent based on this current season.
I didn't expect Mike Dunleavy to go to Indianna as there were plenty of rumours of him going to the Clippers to join his dad and it would involve Corey Maggette. Ike Diogu didn't fit under Nelson's system as Nelson had expected mainly because he couldn't get the plays right. Warriors get Sarunas Jasikevicius so they can add another 3 point threat to their team.

Even with Jackson, they should start Ellis. Lineup should be like this
C-Biedrins/Foyle
PF-Harrington/Barnes
SF-Pietrus/Barnes/Richardson
SG-Ellis/Jackson/Richardson/Azubuike
PG-Davis/Ellis

You obviously know nothing about them. Al Harrington is an offensive star. He is also very athletic. Murphy can shoot the ball a little bit but is not very skilled overall on offense. On the other end, he rebounds like a beast. They couldn't be more different.

First of all, I said based on THIS season. I know that Harrington averages more points but I just feel he gets more help getting the ball to him.
Second of all I agree that Harrington is more athletic and better offensively OVERALL.

If Murphy and Dunleavy can stay healthy, it might not be such a bad deal for Indy. They're both very inconsistent, but Murphy proved last season or two seasons ago that he could be an amazing rebounding a great offensive threat as well, while Dunleavy can do lots of things offensively. At least they got rid of two problematic players (mostly Jackson, but even Harrington mustn't have his issues if no team wanna keep him for more than a year or two despite great stats... :? ).
On the other side, it just sounds like too much firepower for GS...
I dunno if J-Rich will stay injured for long, but even without him, that's a pretty crazy roster
Not sure Nellie will get any results out of that mix...

dunleavy's garbage. I'm glad they didn't dump him with daddy here in LA

Troy's a great player if healthy, capable of 15 & 10. Ike's been underachieving since he got in the league.

G State made out like bandits on this one. They might actually make the playoffs this year.

Huh? You say a "slumping" Dunleavy who's playing far better than last season and matching his best season, but don't mention Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson's terrible years? Jackson's having the worst year of his real career, and Harrington's having his worst season of the last four. Murphy's more or less playing about as well as last season, although he's grabbing a fourth fewer rebounds.

Sarunas is alright but McLeod is playing roughly as good. Throw in the fact that Indiana is getting the best player in the deal in Ike Diogu, a legit starter, and it looks like a pretty solid Indy win.

Golden State sent out Diogu and Murphy...who aside from Biedrins are their two best, and perhaps, only two bigs. (Should we count Foyle as existing still?) And got back two and a half wing players and swapped backup guards. I blocked nearly as many shots as Al Harrington last season in only 2781 fewer minutes and Mike Dunleavy grabs almost as many rebounds (with nearly three times the assist ratio!).

Harrington and Jackson aren't big time scorers, nor are they very efficient scorers. And between the two they only have one remarkable skill, and that's Stephen Jackson's skill at being absolutely insane. Sarunas hasn't shot like he was supposed to in the league, and at 30 he's easy to let go.

Pacers flipped Harrington for the cheaper, younger and better Diogu, swapped Jackson for the non-insane Dunleavy, exchanged Sarunas for McLeod at minor expense, turned Powell into Murphy, and hopefully made some room to explore Daniels and Baston more. (Not to mention the obvious openings for Diogu and Granger.)
orien greene...will...get more time.

Ew.
Al Harrington is an offensive star.

In some sort of bizzaro world maybe. Or if by "star" you mean amazingly average. He got 18 shots a game in Atlanta and managed only 18 points a game. A similar volume shooter, Rashard Lewis put up 20 points on 17 shots. That's a guy who's last two seasons have been far far closer to "offensive star" than Harrington.

There's been this myth that Harrington has been some rising superstar for the last half a decade, when he's never been better than average. (Also, I would be remiss to not note that Harrington was butchered in Atlanta at the Power Forward slot defensively...and that continued this season...with great defenders nearby in the frontcourt...) Reality helps to put this trade in a more accurate light.

benji, you completely excluded contracts. Murphy and Dunleavy both have horrible contracts.

Less. Murphy has been inconsistent, in and out of the lineup, and played horrible defense.

Harrington has the skills to excel in Golden State. Athletic big man who can finish plays, and capability to shoot from beyond the arc (thats where the Marion reference came in).

David Dupree thinks its pretty good.

Summary:
Pacers benefits: Dunleavy and Murphy three point shooters to support Oneal. Murphy and Diogo strong inside to support Jermaine Oneal. Jackson's an idiot.

GSW benefits: Saves GSW $30 million from contracts. Harrington and Jackson good defenders, can score. Sarunas good shooting PG.

Well, I disagree. Murphy played better basketball couple of years back and combined with Dunleavy they're just not worthy of Al + Jax..And you're not giving Al enough credit. I put him on the same level (talent-wise) as Nocioni, Villanueva, Maggette, R.Davis, C. Butler (you probably won't agree here)..Meaning players, better than Murhpy/Dunleavy.
I also don't see how Baston will get more PT (which i would LOVE to see it happen) behind Foster, JO, Murphy and Diogu :? ..
On the other hand, I'm happy we got Diogu and that we got rid of Jax (i always hated his (LOW) basketball IQ).

benji, you completely excluded contracts. Murphy and Dunleavy both have horrible contracts.

So does Al Harrington. The Pacers were way over the cap no matter what, they took an extra $20 million hit on one year to switch players who weren't working and land Diogu.

As both teams were over the cap and the trade hardly changes the situation, I thought it more prudent to look at who got the better basketball players. Indiana did, so I declared them the winnah.
Which despite down years is still better than anything Murphy or Dunleavy have ever done.

Hardly, their down years are worse than Dunleavy and Murphy's years this season, and Murphy's been regularly better than either of 'em, and Dunleavy's been pretty even with them throughout his career.
Harrington has the skills to excel in Golden State.

He had the "skills" to excel in Atlanta and Indiana, and he didn't. He's been supposed to have a "breakout" season for the last five. It'd be nice if he exploded in Golden State, but the evidence says I wouldn't bet on it.
capability to shoot from beyond the arc

Charles Barkley had the capability to shoot from beyond the arc, doesn't mean he should've. Despite his fluke shooting this season, I don't consider a career 29% shooter to be a "great three point shooter" under any circumstances.

Marion is a guy who regularly takes around 300 three pointers a year, Harrington finally cracked 100 attempts in a season last year.
Well, I disagree.

Well, Dunleavy isn't having a down year, so you disagree by being wrong.
And you're not giving Al enough credit. I put him on the same level (talent-wise) as Nocioni, Villanueva, Maggette, R.Davis, C. Butler

If he's as good as those players, how come he's never had one season better than their average seasons? (aside from Ricky Davis) Harringon's had NINE YEARS to prove himself, he hasn't. He's merely average. He might be the most athletic person in the history of the world, but he's still merely an average NBA player.

Maybe two average wing players IS just what Golden State needs to get over the hump, but I like Indiana's addition of Diogu more than another bunch of small forwardy types added to the Warriors.

Only three teams are worse offensively at this point in the season than Indiana, they added better offense with this trade. And Golden State certainly didn't add any game changing stoppers, just average at best offensive players, meaning their offense and defense certainly won't get much better, if at all.

You should read some comments all over the board!!!

I honestly think it's all about style of play, I think Both teams got what they need, and Pacers got rid of the Black Cloud!! With the added rebounding forces, I think we can win more games now, But I don't think Indiana is done, we might get rid of Marshall, which I think we should keep!!!

And who ever says Orien Green is Ehhhh, needs to rethink that, he's a solid back up who just needs minutes

benji, Al does not have a bad contract whatsoever. The Warriors were willing to offer him about 11 million a year this offseason and the Pacers got him for just over 6. He´s paid exactly what he should be, and he´s paid lower then the market.
