lol gilbert getting a little head of himself here. He is a good scorer and all but he isn't like Kobe at scoring. Try scoring 61points in 3 quarters like Kobe did to the Mavericks last year. Better yet, 81 for the game. Or how about 30 in a quarter like he did to the Jazz earlier this year.

as good as Arenas is, he still has something to prove. Only Tracy McGrady when health can really come close to kobe numbers.

It's really too bad though that he will never be the same player he once was again. Other than Kobe, he was my favorite player to watch when healthy. :(

On topic I think Gil needs to stfu already. His first comment was good and classy enough already. But since he made like 3 more comments about the one comment Kobe made I've lost some respect for Gil.

Considering Gilbert was afforded alot more minutes when he first came into the league due to the lack of quality in his team and also considering that watching young guys like Kobe and Garnett making a successful leap at a young age made coaches more willing to provide their youngsters the PT, then yes Gilbert has done well his first 6 yrs but thats not much to brag about. There are many more guys out there who have done better than Kobe their first few years so its obviously not strictly about number which after reading this it seems thats the only thing Gilbert pays attention to.

Comparing their current seasons so far. Hmmmmmmm, what an accomplishment to be doing better than a guy returning from injury, a guy who doesnt play pg but is only 1 ast below and a rebound above you, scores 3 pts less, players much stronger competition on a nightly basis in the West and shoots a higher percentage than you.

It does seem he is getting in over his head. Pay attention to the game Gilbert and stop consuming your time with analyzing stats. I wonder how long youve been looking for the perfect time to drop this line....after inflation as a result of a couple good games in a week.

Fken Gilbert thinkin his shit is better than Kobe, Gilbert has what, 1 team franchise record?? Kobe has agazillion records..
His little comment about his stats was just a retaliation to what Kobe said when Arenas scored 60 in his own house. We all know Kobe has no humiliation factor and will always say something back cuz he thinks hes the best player, which he is.

Depends on what you consider the near future. You can never really say they wont win when you consider there are one or two more aging superstars (ex Garnett) who at this point just want a ring and would consider the switch. If LA continue as they are now and Odom comes back and plays well I'd give tham a decent shot at the title. If they added one more quality big to that lineup there chances are even greater.

We have to remember Kobe is 28, if the Lakers dont win a championship in the next 4 years with him on the squad, they wont ever...

Jordan had Pippen,Rodman,Kerr...
the Lakers today have Kobe,Kobe,KOBE... luke walton could be superstar-ish one day but not any time soon, Kwame is showing improvment but still sucks ass. Vujacic shouldnt even be shooting. Brian Cook... BRIAN COOK R U EFFEN SERIOUS..Ronny Turiaf is good energy guy but what does a good energy guy last for?? 4 minutes..

And all that can change with signings, trades and a good draft. Jordan didnt have those guys every year of his career.

I think where KObe went wrong was joining the NBA at age 17! It screwed his little teenage brain up. Aside from that a Kobe like player or Michael like player just dosent come around every 3 years to pick up in a draft. Also I understand KObe beign a better teammate, i was wishing for that last year when we were losing the playoffs to the Suns. But now its like hes turning into tracy mcgrady by considering him self a "playmaker". In my opinion i think Kobe needs to be a little more selfish like.

I dont think he did wrong by coming to the NBA. The only thing it really hurt was his early career stats but all that really doesnt matter. He learned alot from the guys in his team and his body developed quicker through more intensive workouts and such than it would if he went to college I think.

I dont think he needs to be selfish really. He just needs to pick his spots and notice when he takes too many consecutive shots. Thats the only real issue for me. I hate seeing long periods of time where he's the only guy putting up, I'd prefer at most 2 or 3 then give another guy a shot at the big hole. The ball will always find its way to him anyways.

Sorry dada, I just don't think the Lakers have a chance at a title, or even getting far into the playoffs. Their defense is just abysmal. I don't see Kwame Brown stopping a Tim Duncan or Amare Stoudemire.

Offensively, they are good, but I think in a playoff series it would come to a grinding halt. A team like San Antonio or Dallas won't leave Smush, Walton, Cook, Lamar, Ramanovic, etc, wide open (which seems to be the case in many of the games I've watched).

As for bringing in new players, next year Luke Walton is a free agent; will LA sign him? If so, there goes the chances of picking up a KG, or someone bigger.

Its easy to say that but nobody will ever know until the situation presents itself. Everybody steps up in the playoffs, believe it or not even LA Laker players do as well. When we faced Phoenix last year even without Stoudemire nobody gave us a real shot but we were right there, When Detroit demolished LA in the finals a few years back I never predicted such a mauling in my wildest dreams. Look at Cleveland last year with Detroit.

If it was as simple as the quality players/names on a team then teams like Detroit would never win it all or teams like Indiana would never make it to the finals. Spurs or some other West team would be winning every year too I suppose.0

In some ways you could say its a tad more complete. The 3pt shot is there which kinda makes him a greater threat whereas with Wade everybody knows he'd much rather take it to the bucket. Gilberts shot selection is really the only thing keeping him (and his fg%) down. Those two big game sbrought it up a tad though.

I think Gilbert's just being Gilbert, and that his comment, while a little cuckoo, isn't as screwed up as some of the stuff he does.

Just saw a feature on Gilbert Arenas.
During his free agency, he decided which team to sign with by flipping a coin.
