I've read at several places that Nash used to do it in practices once in a while (haven't seen it though). But you never know.. Then again, if Kidd can do it fairly easily, I'm pretty sure Nash can do it on a good day. In fact, I have a feeling all players in the NBA can do it, unless they're injured or got bad knees etc.

And I've also read that Earl can do it. But I haven't seen that either though.

Nash has a 33 inch vert, doesn't he? I'm pretty sure that at 6'3 he'd be able to at least touch the rim or get a good portion of his hand above it.

Mon Dec 04, 2006 2:56 am

but how bout mugsie boggs( wats the spelling ) the 5'3 guy..
do you think he could also???

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:03 am

I didn't know Devin Harris can dunk!! I seen that shit I was like WTF lol!!

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:18 am

yah...he could... i saw that dude fly...hehehhehe...

Everyone in the league can dunk easily. Dunking is not difficult at all.

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:37 am

Even Steve Kerr or Marv Albert back in the days could be dunking too.

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:43 am

Sorry to go off-topic but..

With a pic like that, I don't think so.

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:47 am

I won't believe Earl Boykins can dunk until I see it for myself. PAMPERS, Marv Albert is like 5"6 and was never a pro basketball player, so unless he has some serious hops, I doubt he ever dunked.

Before anyone ever asks if Stephon Marbury can dunk () check this out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYi3uo4KsxE

EDIT: Shadowgrin, All he has to do to wonder why is go back and look at the reason he was banned

There are guys in the league who can't dunk I'm sure.

Nash I bet can though. I'm 6'2'' and can't jump that high and I can grab the rim so if Nash has a 33inch vertical and he's 6'3'', he can definitely dunk. I have a friend who is 6'1'' with a 33inch vertical and if he's hands were bigger (he can't hold onto the ball well or palm it) he'd be able to dunk.

But we can look at the shorter white guys in the league. Can Luke Ridnour or Travis Deiner dunk? Howabout Steve Blake or Dan Dickau? Also you have to wonder about Chris Webber these days, lol.

Instead of starting a new topic I thought I would just ask my question here: Is Ryan Gomes' name pronounced as Go-mes or just Gomes?

Mon Dec 04, 2006 5:09 am

Im very sure Steve Nash can dunk. Just that it's not useful for him to do so in game, since unless you have a serious vertical it might a) look clumsy b) fail c) tire you more.

There's a reason why Jordan relied more on layups the older he became. He still had an amazing jump shot vertical, but dunking takes that extra edge that's hard to come by as 34 year old guard, not to mention as 40 year old. And, from his example, it was even obvious that dunking is not something easy, he's missed a few and obviously going for layups is much better method for many of those situations.

Steve is way too intelligent of a basketballplayer to be concerned over whether he can satisfy his young fans who equal the quality of dunk as much as winning a game. He sure can dunk, he has good vertical, but I don't expect him to attempt such in game, unless in a blowout game on a wide-open fastbreak.

Its just Gomes, like how you pronounce phones, but with a g.

Carlos Arroyo? Jose Calderon? Sarunas Jasikevicius? Andre Barrett? Chris Quinn? Beno Udrih? Sergio Rodriguez? Derek Fisher? Jordan Farmar?

Add that to Steve Blake, Dan Dickau, Travis Deiner and Luke Ridnour and I cant think of any more active players that might not be able to dunk.

Can you dunk? I've been dunking since I was 16, and I'm only 6'3". Dunking is not difficult in the least.

Jose Calderon can dunk. I've seen Euroleague footage of him slamming one down.
