Most Dull NBA Crowd

Postby Isaiah on Thu Nov 30, 2006 11:14 am

I don't know if this has been discussed before but which home team do you guys think has the most dull NBA crowd?

Honestly, I think the Lakers do, based on the games they telecast here in the Philippines. Compared to other crowds, the LA crowd is mostly silent the entire game, then either clap after a basket. They only get pumped up towards the end of the game.

The crowd was also like that when i watched Live at Staples. It seems the crowd only cheers constantly whenever its the playoffs, like Games 3 and 4 of the Suns series.

How about the Hawks crowd? Everytime the Knicks play in Atlanta it always seems like theres more Knicks fans than Hawks fans.

What do you call a power forward that averages 7 rebounds?

I'd have to disagree. Maybe in past years, but not this one. The place is deafening.

On weekend games, anyway. ;)

The game yesterday looked like a funeral, possibly worse. They were more dead then I've ever seen any sports arena in my life.

Yeah, like I said, on weekend games. Heh. The weekday ones, especially when it was snowing and icy like it was yesterday are kinda dead.

Slightly off topic, but is it just me, or has the Lakers' Staples Center gotten a lot more darker this year than ever? On TV, you see court, and the crowd is covered in darkness. I remember last year, whenever I saw a game at the Laker's version of the Staples Center that it was quite bright.

Maybe they are going for more of an MSG feel?

Oh and dada, I couldn't agree more. You wanna see passion, go to a college game. Cameron Indoor, Rupp Arena, Cole Fieldhouse, hell, I've been to a couple games in MaCarthy Athletic Center (Gonzaga's home court) and that place is flat our ELECTRIC. I've heard many national names rank it up there as one of the best environments in the country.

They're doing a 'lights out' thing all year- it's not just your eyes.

I thought the lakers were soft until in game 6 of the 2000 finals, they really ignited that team to finish off the pacers. For every bandwagoning fan they have, they have 100 diehard fans.

Isaiah, I think it might be due to the fact that the long-time Lakers arena annoucer has this really sleepy, dull voice and most people don't show up until halfway through the 1st and don't return from halftime (due to long lines at the concession stands at Staples) until halfway through the 3rd.

I say Atlanta too.

Yeah I noticed too, but I like it like that... Might wanna request a stadium patch for Live 07...

Yeah Lawrence Tanter can get boring at times. and about the lines, i agree. i returned 6 mins into the 3rd quarter after shopping at TeamLA during halftime.

When the Lakers get eliminated in the 1st round,
It's lights out.
When Kobe gets injured for a season,
It's lights out.

I like it already.

The Staples Center acts like they have such an original great idea. Madison Square Garden has always had the stadium lit like that.

It's how it should be.

I think the Dallas announcer is annoying. I hate how he chants "Deeeeee-Feeeeeeeeeeense" in like a slow "Luke, I am your father" voice nonstop while the opposing team has the ball. He's twice as loud as the fans ever get, which makes it much worse.

I think this thread is a little bit silly, because most people haven't been to more than one team's arena. I'm sure there are some who've been to a few, but not enough to sufficiently rank them by dullness.

I think it's obviously Phillips Arena. The attendance there is probably the worst in the NBA.
