Amare Stoudemire, i think he will be considered if he can come back from major knee surgery and post up some of his old numbers, it will be a miracle.

Max wont get enough time unless theres an injury.
As for Prince ... I figured today he is just going to be one of those players who will always tease to get better stats, but never really reach what everyone hopes he will.
Maybe thats just pistons-bias thats upping what he 'should' get...

Doesnt every player improve their jumpshot over the preseason?
More like the fact that Luke never had one and it's a contract year and he has said he wants to win the starting spot off Vlad Rad... that's what impressed me.
Maybe we will see a big year from Mini Walton?
Mon Oct 23, 2006 7:58 pm
Anyone earning less than 3mil and is on a contract year will win MIP

.

For sure man

lol
now that I think of it, probably not!
But there's still hope mate

Besides Darko I reckon Kevin Martin.
Wed Oct 25, 2006 2:19 am
Look for guys who have points to prove and guys in contract years like Anderson Varejao, Darko etc
Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:19 am
J.R. Smith, Darko, David Harrison, Marquis Daniels, Kleiza, Verejao, Kevin Martin, Shaun Livingston, Josh Smith and Jameer Nelson are all good possibilities.
Wed Oct 25, 2006 4:36 am
Krstic, 'Toine Wright, Jameer Nelson and eMeka.

LOL, if anyone on the team profits from AI's court vision and passing skills it's Korver. He scored like half of his baskets after a pass from Iverson. He totally has to depend on good passes since he can't create his own shots.
Wed Oct 25, 2006 6:13 am
No kidding. Korver is pathetic. He's a homeless mans Peja.

I'm still excited about HULK, but his preseason has been anything but encouraging. I'm hoping he's just teasing us a little bit.
He is in very good shape, but he still makes a lot of mistakes out there.

True.
Silas have been playing too much NBA Live that's why he thinks Korver is all that.

jamal crawford
again, i'll go with Pietrus. and probably i'll keep saying him until he finally wins it
maybe even Eddy Curry wakes up this year

I'm also waiting for Pietrus to do something this year. I think it has to do with the fact that he's as dumb as a brick on the court.

Yeah, that's who I was forgetting. I wrote my list of possibilities and sat there for a long time trying to think of who I was leaving out.

Also Kenyon Martin is playing some awesome basketball in this preseason, he stated he is ready and wants to prove to use Denver fans that he is worthy of his contract. Look for him for the award if he remains injury free.
Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:03 pm
this is always the hardest award to pick before the season has actually started.
I'll throw a new name out there and say Nazr Mohammed, in a similar sort of way to Ike Austin winning it in 97. Both guys who have been in the league a while, finally getting to a new situation and flourishing in someone else's absence.
i think i might have said Darko in the official award prediction thread, which i will stand by as well.
Other possibilities are kings duo John Salmons and Francisco Garcia.
Genuine question: Has there ever been a tie in MIP voting?

I agree, but I would drop Marquis & Varajeo from that list....I'd add Devin Harris (we're talking regular season to regular season, not '06 playoffs) to that list....also Carlos Delfino....Dorrell Wright perhaps, same with Travis Outlaw....although those 2 are big if's....
some 2nd year guys who will be better (due mainly to increased PT & one year under their belt) are Monta Ellis, Linas Kleiza, Francisco Garcia, Jason Maxiell, Danny Granger, Wayne Simien, Andrew Bogut, Antoine Wright, David Lee (easily my fav Knick since John Wallace), Jack, Deron Williams, Andray Blatche....

i think the Warriors have sort of given up on Pietrus.

I'll go with Kevin Martin. He definately has the best chance to improve with Wells gone and more playing time at the 2.
Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:09 pm
I'm gonna bump this thread cos Kevin Martin is torching his oponents and i think hes 100% gonna win this unless he goes down with injury. The kings made a good move when they got rid of Wells as Martin has shown way more dominance, im really starting to like this kid.
Thu Nov 09, 2006 9:11 pm
Yeah i think i picked the wrong kings. But if the lakers keep winning, and Bynum keeps doing what he's doing, then there's no way that he can lose this award.
Thu Nov 09, 2006 9:21 pm
lol, agree wit u there..... id give it to bynum..... i hope he keeps working and becomes the premier center in the league overtaking shaq and yao and greg oden and d howard
