That was tougher than i thought it would be. I ranked them in order of who'd id want on my team if i was building a team to compete for 1 season only. It would be totally different if i took potential into consideration....My ideal team would be a european style team, with some solid bigmen for rebounding, defense and inside scoring.

Wed Oct 11, 2006 11:34 am

Poor Joe Johnson...he got ranked last from almost everyone.

Considering that he was in the best group with perinial all-stars. Its really not that bad.

Am I the only one that finds this disturbing? Pau over Dwight, Jermaine and Shaq? Bosh over those Jermaine and Shaq? Pau Gasol? The inhumanity...

I'll just do that group because it speaks to me...

Dwight Howard (1)
Shaquille O'Neal (2)
Jermaine O'Neal (3)
Chris Bosh (4)
Pau Gasol (5)

Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire, the future looks very promising. :)

Wed Oct 11, 2006 11:59 am

Scanning through the responses, I'm curious to know why the Jermaine O'Neal lovefest? He's only started 88 games in the past two seasons.

Wed Oct 11, 2006 12:13 pm

Jackal, at this point in time, I think my rankings are fair.
Bosh puts up great numbers, and shoots great percentages from the field/line all while playing out of position.

Pau carried both his NBA team and Spanish National team through their respective games, all while putting up solid numbers.

I give Howard 3rd because he is a monster on the boards, and well, I boosted it a bit based on potential, but I suppose that wasn't quite fair.

I gave JO 4th because, well, there was nothing I saw that suggested he be rated any higher. He shoots a poor percentage for a big. He gives you 20/9/2 blocks, and nothing else. I just don't think he is a winner.

I rate Shaq 5th becasue I really don't think he is that good anymore. He won his 'ship without Kobe last year. What else does he have to prove? I wouldn't be surprised if he started the season at 340 lbs, and missed 40 games to injuries this year.

Gerald Green (5) (OVERFUCKINGRATED)

How is he overrated? Everybody knows he sucks, the thing is he has a huge amount of potential. The question was "how well you think that their career will turn out in the end", if you were saying his potential was overrated, then thats fine. I just can't see how a player that gets very small minutes and doesn't have anyone saying he is great is overrated.

I don't agree with your Shaun Livingston placement. If he just packs on some weight, when starting, hes already a 12/6 guy off talent alone. I think he is no doubt gonna be one of the leagues premiere point guards in 4 years time. Look for 20/5/10 at the peak of his career.

Marvin Williams (4)

IMO, he should be just behind Livingston, top 2. Strong small forward that can play the SG/SF/PF positions, good long range shooter, good inside player, great ballhandling for a big G/F, above average playmaking ability, great attitude and a very good rebounder for his size. He does everything very well but not one thing excellent. Im expecting 25/7/5 at some point during his career, if not, he was a dissapointment. That much talent is too much to not produce.

Martell Webster (2)

Blazer fan.

Vince Carter (2)

You said you don't like Vince, I can't believe you. Too much VC backing. Too put him ahead of Paul Pierce at the moment is a joke. Im a huge Carmelo fan, but hes probably no better than any of those guys in that group right now. The reason I put him 3rd in mine is because I'm predicting he will surpass Joe Johnson and VC next year.

Andray Blatche (4)

Not sure if you are familiar with Blatche, but he is an incredible rebounder. Can play SF/PF and if he got stronger Im sure he could play center, if I remember rightly he's up near 7 foot. Pretty good outside shooter, and has amazing handles for someone his size, think Kevin Garnett handles. Very athletic and blocks a pretty good amont of shots. Another guy who is just too good at many different things to pass up.

Stephon Marbury (3)

Just because he runs his mouth doesn't mean he isnt a good ballplayer. Good Call (Y)

Shane Battier (5)

Too put Shane Battier behind Bruce Bowen is plain silly. Bowen is a good defender, can shoot the three, but doesn't really do anything else. Battier is not far behind Bowen in terms of defence, ahead of him as a rebounder, and is a better scorer. I admit you put Mike Miller a bit high but he probably deserves to go up near the top, I placed him a reluctant last because I just couldn't find any room for him.

Wow, sorry to nit-pick your post, your selections just caused a debate inside my head. Nothing personal.

EDIT:

Greg Oden (5)

I can't believe that. Nice to see you put Durant and OJ up there, but Oden last is crazy. i'm going to stop here before I get a lecture from Jae about Yao

Wed Oct 11, 2006 4:45 pm

Oden gets no love from Jug

Over-rated. Dominating high school games woop woop.

How is he overrated? Everybody knows he sucks, the thing is he has a huge amount of potential. Potential is over-rated. Next T-Mac my ass.

IF he packs on weight. I like him too but Granger and Webster > him.

If he stays at Atlanta, then he won't end up like that.

Blazer fan.

So.

You said you don't like Vince, I can't believe you. Too much VC backing. Too put him ahead of Paul Pierce at the moment is a joke. Im a huge Carmelo fan, but hes probably no better than any of those guys in that group right now. Paul Pierce did nothing with Fatoine Walker. Fatoine gone and still nothing. Melo rules, he's under-rated.

Maybe in the D-league.

Just because he runs his mouth doesn't mean he isnt a good ballplayer. Good Call

I'd take Starbury over Terry and Bibby any day.

Too put Shane Battier behind Bruce Bowen is plain silly. Bowen is a good defender, can shoot the three, but doesn't really do anything else. Battier is not far behind Bowen in terms of defence, ahead of him as a rebounder, and is a better scorer. I dont need Bruce Bowen to score for me to be effective. Battier is good but I'm pissed off at his so called saviour to the Rockets. He was a good addition but he's not the key to the Rockets finals appearances. Neither is Wells.
