Thats a good one. With the game being played in a non-NBA city and Melo being snubbed a few years, he'll be looking for revenge - without a home player being set up constantly like T-Mac last year.

It is almost impossible that Nash wins the MVP again. The only possible way is if the suns end up first in regular season.

Matthew, you don't really think Francis could do enough to win MIP do you?

I know Grant Hill won, but that was a pretty extreme situation and I don't think Stevie has fallen off the cliff enough to be considered MIP worthy, even if he averages 25/6/6.

Tmac and your boy Jermaine O'neal have also won the award. Francis averaged 14/5/5 last season, but only 10/3/3 with the knicks. If he recaptures his old form, He'd have to be a leading candidate for the award, and it was my sleeper pick. My real prediction was dwight howard.

Jermaine's was a completely different situation, he was a guy that rode the pine and then improved right away when given playing time, he had a breakout year and won MIP, that's like a standard case of the award.

I don't remember what year TMac won the award and what his numbers were like the year before. Fill me in?

All I'm saying is that I don't ever recall an all-star who fell off the charts for a season or two and then responded with a bounce back season winning MIP, and it would surprise me if it happened.

As for Dwight Howard, he just averaged 16 and 13. I don't see any way he wins MIP, he's already considered a bonifide all star.

And also Dwight Howard wont be considered MIP because he is young and is expected to have some sort of break out season

Like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh in this past season.

I know the situation with Jermaine was different, but when he won it was clear he was appraoching superstardom.

Tmac before his MIP season:
15.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.3 apg

Maggette has more of a chance of winning MIP than 6th man. If hes healthy all year I wouldnt be suprised if he put up 25/7/4

He was used as a 6th man during the last season/playoffs and if I remember correctly, he said he became content with the role during this offseason. Ross starts at SF and serves as a defensive stopper on the first unit, Mobley is the designated spot shooter and Maggete comes off the bench providing elite scoring punch.
