No, not really. He displayed poor basketball IQ in college, this current crop of rookies are actually mostly pretty smart players actually. Morrison, Roy, Foye, Aldridge, Shannon Brown, Redick all have high b-ball iqs.

Matthew wrote:Fenix, once again its clear to see where your biases are. Look at the wording you use to describe both Thomas and Carney. Let me use just one example:

Thomas:
" has a developing post game, midrange shot"

But with Carney, it's "has underdeveloped midrange game"

Essentially what you're saying is the same thing, but the wording greatly exagerates Thomas and criticises Carney. As for the rest of your post, its Darko-esque. Footspeed, potential, explosiveness blah blah blah. Not only is it completely off topic, but he is yet to do anything in the nba and you are making out as if he is a sure to be hall of famer.

Same thing applies with carney, he hasnt stepped on the court yet and you are making him out to be jr smith of all people, who even you admit is a bad comparison.

OK, well I thought you were referring to me, since I said he has a low b-ball IQ, which he does. I like Rodney Carney, I think he's an outstanding athlete and will be a good player in the NBA, but his IQ just isn't very high, and he will commit some stupid turnovers and make mistakes.

You could say the exact same thing about most rookies or young players.

I said Tyrus has a developing post game, but he already has a midrange shot. Carney shot only from 3pt or went to the basket, from what I've seen. And I just use those expresions to describe one's game and upside. I don't like Carney, not because he's not on the Bulls, simply because he represents more or less everything that is wrong with the NBA. An athletic freak who has no basketball IQ whatsoever and lacks fundamentals. Tyrus on the other hand shows very good understanding of the game and he proved to me (in 5 SL games) that he knows how to play fundamental basketball. He dunks the ball when he needs to, makes a layup when unguarded, he can post up his guy, handle and pass the ball and - what is most important - he uses his athleticism to make effective and not flashy plays. But then again, you're totally right - neither of the have proved anything at the NBA level and till then, any serious judgement is premature.

Whowowow, that's exagerating it.
You know what's wrong with the NBA? Nene's getting fat contracts, VC's and Baron Davis' requesting trades, Francis refusing to play for the team that drafted him, players and coaches arguing through media reporters.

Rodney Carney is not representing what's wrong with the NBA, he doesn't have the highest basketball IQ, but he didn't make the NBA just because of his athleticism. He has good fundamentals, can shoot from the outside (no superb midrange game - agreed), went to college for four years (!), doesn't play selfish or thinks he's a god. And you cannot possibly blame him for his flashy dunking, it's not a risk to try a special dunk in-game when you have hops like his.

You're right. I was exagerating. I actually like this guy as a human being and he isn't a selfish bastard or anything, but it's just somewhat dumb (BB IQ) and passionless which irritates me, you know. People like me are just jelaous :).
