You can choose from a lot of NBA teams from different periods in time, and can sim a game between two teams. It also generates a box score and a play by play. I thought it was pretty cool.

Yea man, awesome find. Play by play also.... this is great!!! Man, this could be very helpful for classics team patchers
I can see myself spending alot of time on this...

yeah awesome find. just simulated a game between the 95-96 Bulls and the 79-80 Lakers. Final score: Lakers 119, Bulls 111. The Bulls had it sewn up until the Lakers outscored them in the 4th: 42-30. And also Jordan was uncharacteristically off. Hit 5-17 from the field.
This could be a lot of fun.

hmm the 05-06 Nets beat the 01-02 Nets 104-95, thats a really great find!

I've been using this for over a year, surprised you guys didn't know. It is very cool to play around with.

They're a lot better on this site than they would be in real games, they even beat the Pistons, Heat, and a lot of other top-caliber teams in the simulation.

apparently, had Portland not choked against the Lakers back in 00, they would have went down to Indiana 4-2 instead.

I first saw this highlighted in a SI article about 4 years ago and have been using it ever since. It is a really awesome sight. They even have fantasy leagues where you can draft any player, and then they simulate games and stuff. You can draft wilt during his monter 50 ppg season. It is pretty cool stuff.

Yeah, me too. Strange that this got posted on this site and the Pacersdigest site on the same day.
JohnnyLi, do you post or lurk at Pacers digest?
Sun Sep 17, 2006 1:53 pm
pretty cool, does anyone know how they determine the outcomes?
Sun Sep 17, 2006 3:52 pm
it's probably based on stats and ratings... interesting to see the 98 Bulls get demolished by Wilt, Elgin, & Jerry's Lakers as well as Shaq, Kobe & Rice's Lakers. A lot of my friends say the 98 Bulls was the best team of all time
Sun Sep 17, 2006 4:37 pm
98? no way.....96 was the best Bulls team.
Sun Sep 17, 2006 9:05 pm
How the fuck do you work this thing? I chose the two teams and generate play by play... now what?

Click on view box score

Nup, that doesn't come up for me. Fuck what a shitty evening.
Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:13 pm
lol 2006 Lakers beat 1998 Bulls 111- 90
Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:40 pm
Maybe you have a popup blocker on, coz it comes up in a different window

1996 Bulls against 2006 Heat. Bulls win everytime, Wade has only one game over 20pts and Jordan dominates. Just like it'd happen in the real world.
Edit: Why can't Live have simulation engine like this one

.

This is pretty cool man. Just simmed 02-03 Lakers vs 05-06 Heat and they won 98-97 with Kobe bagging 34.
edit: Did it again and they won by 26 (Kobe with 41).
BTW the play by plays are pretty nice.

0:00 84 - 85 Kobe Bryant connects on the turnaround from the right side.
lol, great engine

hmm I didn't think there was a big difference between the two, but after looking it up, I guess the 96 team had better bigs off the bench. Plus Jud Bueschler the 3 point bomber

Mr. Clutch eh.
O another note I noticed one matchup where there was a buzzer beater at the end of every quarter.

Sometimes its kinda weird and off. The 2000 superbowl rams, one of the better teams of the last 16 years, lost to the 1993 Cowboys, and then the 2002 rams, the best of all Rams teams (right up until warner got a concussion right before the superbowl) also lost to the 1993 cowboys, but somehow the 2001 rams, their worst season of the three years IMO totally crushed them....
Also, the 1995-96 Sonics, probably the best Sonics team of all time (Schrempf, Payton, Kemp all at the highlights of their careers) lost to the 2001 sixers....
The only reason the Sonics lost was because they faced arguably the best team of all time in all of sports, yet they lose to the 2001 sixers who got crushed by the Lakers.
Either way, this thing is a lot of fun. I liked doing the 2000 Lakers verses the Celtics of the 60's.

There used to be a setting where you could instruct them to simulate 100 games, and then just let you know how many games each team won. This was a better way of judging how good one team was in relation to another. For some reason, I can't find that option any more. Has anyone else noticed it?
EDIT: Anther thing I noticed was missing since I used to visit the site was the ability to edit how strong a homecourt advanatage was. You could turn it off completely, or you could turn it up to the max if say you were using the 96 Utah Jazz or something like that.
