NBA Player making use of the money for a good cause. Naming it after his mother really must be a nice feeling also.

The article was pretty informative, at least to me. Mutombo only started to play ball in his second year of college & has had a good NBA career(still average double double for his career)

He has also accomplished bigger dreams than what he wanted when he first came here. Instead of helping 1 by 1, he is able to to help thousands all at once. The intern saving his life by letting doctors know what he had was also pretty nice and shows that they really still do need help there.

Thats good to hear. That money can be used to saved a huge number of lives.

How many players would actually donate $15 million for a good cause? Mutombo gets a huge amount of respect.

He's always been involved with the medical field cause he wanted to be a doctor originally. Considering his clumsiness on the court...i reckon i'm happy with his career choice. He's definitly helping people this way.

It's not something a lot of people think about, but with a lot of NBA players coming out of the former Yugoslavia area and Africa, they've really faced a lot of hardships to get to the league. War, poverty, disease.

Commendable and miraculours, really.

That's really an inspiring story. There's no known cure for malaria, but hopefully his hospital can help aid in getting out medicine to keep younger children from being casulaties to it. It's a shame that stories like this aren't publicized over all the T.O. shit on ESPN.

Mutombo is one of the more positive role models in the NBA.He does everything he can to help people that need help.Players usually buy Ferrari's,Mercedes's etc...but not Mutombo he helps his native people in Congo.

He is the mountain everybody can rely on... Hope more NBA players do this instead of spending their leftover money on unneccessary drugs and stuff..

Mutombo helps people and communities. Other players help American corporations.

The NBA does more for the community than other sports though, this whole NBA Cares program that always is advertised on TV shows it.

Vince Carter gave a huge donation to his old school, Kevin Garnett is loyal to the Minnesota community, etc.

No. I egt the feeling that those feelings you have are just resentment and jealousy towards nba players.

Not the guys...the league. It's probably part of their contracts..but it's a good thing none the less.
