Brad Miller likely to go to Sactown
Kings get: C Brad Miller
Pacers get: F/C Scot Pollard
Spurs get: G/F Hedo Turkoglu and G Ron Mercer
I don't like the trade very much since I am not a King fan, and also I don't think Miller should resign, cuz he would have to play backup to Divac...
, whereas with Utah or Denver he would be starting, but maybe he might do it...win a ring orso? Anywho gimme thoughts.
Spurs not doin too bad in this trade..but dont they give anything?
Thu Jul 24, 2003 10:03 am
Divac's retiring in a year or two...he's old. Brad Miller and Keon Clark are nice players to have in the post, and Brad Miller is definately an upgrade on Divac vs. Shaq.
Thu Jul 24, 2003 10:40 am
Well, if this is true.. The Kings are upgrading... But the Pacers will lose there... If only they could get Malik Rose, which I don't see happening... And... it seems like Stephen Jackson won't return, too.
Thu Jul 24, 2003 10:41 am
if the deal goes through...
SAC: miller should get major PT even if he doesn't smoke. Smoking cigarettes and old age is catching up to divac. brad should be a good fit also since he passes well. More shaq vs. miller games! yeh! other then the fatty contract they will have to pay, kings didn't give away that much talent wise to get Miller.
SA: turk and mercer are excellent additions. they should solidify the spurs bench, which was previously getting old and creeky. playing with duncan will make these guys even better. spurs offseason looking a little more successful now
IND: at least they got something in return (boo to Miller's agent again. hehe he doesn't get to land his client in utah or denver.) A pollard/foster combo at Center is decent, should allow JO to play at pf. move should allow reggie to be resigned
Thu Jul 24, 2003 4:00 pm
hedo would fit in better with philly, sa can hurt shooters sometimes. they can go long stretches without taking a shot.
Thu Jul 24, 2003 6:15 pm
Great trade for the Kings. Pollard's been able to contribute here and there, but Miller was an All-Star last year. San Antonio will have a nice insurance policy if Stephen Jackson doesn't re-sign, so it's a good trade for them as well. Indiana are obviously getting the worst of the deal if it goes through without San Antonio sending a player their way. Even then, the trade clearly favours the two Western teams.
Thu Jul 24, 2003 7:43 pm
biggest winner:SA
loser:Indy
Mercer and Hedo will be excellent acqusition and both got great mid range...
Sac got too many C's but B.Miller will be a solid acqustion...his number will definatly fall but he's a great contribution...
Thu Jul 24, 2003 8:03 pm
Given that Miller is coming off a season in which he was named an All-Star and Divac is in decline, perhaps we'll see Miller take the starting job.
Thu Jul 24, 2003 8:10 pm
maybe but Divac has the team leadership..he can help the team play better even if his on court number isn't great..but Brad'll get time say about 26 mpg or so i predict...
Thu Jul 24, 2003 8:15 pm
Miller could probably play some minutes at power forward too, though that would cut into Clark's PT. In any event, the Kings have options.
Thu Jul 24, 2003 8:23 pm
Indiana only traded Miller because Denver and Utah were offering big money and Miller prefered to goto a winner and accepted a sign and trade deal for less money, Indiana did this so they would get something for him.
I heard that Sacramento is trying to trade Keon Clark to Philadelphia.
This message board was not excepting my messages for a couple of days.
I posted about the big trade involving Sprewell and Van Horn.
But I guess that's old news now.
Fri Jul 25, 2003 4:34 am
I guess the Pacers r doing wat they have to do to get something in return for Miller. It looks like Sac will again have a bench that would be starters on other teams
Fri Jul 25, 2003 4:41 am
as a PAcers fan, something is better than nothing
but B Miller winn never be an all-star again, unless eh goes back to the east

i agree he wont be an allstar
Does anyone know if this trade went through yet??????
Fri Jul 25, 2003 9:52 am
yeah the trade went trough!
Good to be the Kings
The talented Kings just got even better. Sacramento acquired All-Star center Brad Miller on Thursday in a three-team trade that saw San Antonio land Hedo Turkoglu and Ron Mercer, and Indiana nab Scot Pollard and Danny Ferry.
spurs gave up danny ferry
Fri Jul 25, 2003 9:53 am
It's close to being completed... Also, the Spurs won't give any players coz they have salary cap to absorb more players' salaries...

As Lebron4MVP said, they (SA) gave up ferry......
Fri Jul 25, 2003 2:36 pm
Not bad, All the Spurs had to do was give up Ferry.
Fri Jul 25, 2003 2:59 pm
but if they haven't done this trade maybe they could save money for the next offseason where they're way more quality fa and money to spend on one superstar like Kobe or KG...
Fri Jul 25, 2003 5:47 pm
Great trade for the Spurs and Kings. Mercer and Turks are a great pickup because they can both play either sf or sg, which is where the Spurs were weak. I can't believe all te gave up was Ferry. How did they pull that off?? The Kings also stole Miller from Indiana for Pollard. Miller's numbers will go down and there is no chance of a repeat all star performance luckily. With Webber, Divac, Clark and Wallace already it doesn't look like he will get huge minutes. What they hell are Indiana thinking?? They are a major contender in the East or should have been and now they are acting like it is time to rebuild, and with Ferry and Pollard, O'Neal should have got outta there....
Fri Jul 25, 2003 6:19 pm
The Pacers had to get rid of some salaries to avoid too much luxury tax. Mercer had a very big deal. This also frees more time for Harrington and Bender.
Pollard can replace Miller for half the money, while Ferry's contract ends after this season.
The Pacers definately have to get rid of Croshere if they want to resign Bender, Foster and Artest next offseason.
Fri Jul 25, 2003 6:26 pm
Pollard doesn't really replace Miller. It just means O'Neal has to move back to centre, which isn't great. I guess it does give either Bender or Harrington a chance to start, but they are small up front now.
Fri Jul 25, 2003 6:35 pm
Pollard is 6'11 265lbs. and Miller 7'0 261lbs. so they didn't really get much smaller. (One inch.. ) Pollard can play center. I don't see why Pollard can't replace Miller. His offense is probably the only aspect of his game that's lacking compared to Miller, and the Pacers have plenty of options who can take some of Miller's shots.
Also I just found out Ferry's deal isn't guaranteed for the upcoming season, so he doesn't even count against the Pacers cap if they decide to release him, they have no intention to keep him, so a trade or release is looking like it's going to happen.
The Pacers made a deal that's financially great for them, and they got to replace their starting center with a player that's proven his worth as a prime reserve on a championship contender.
Yeah I know "prime reserve != starter material" but he was playing behind Divac and Webber, not exactly scrubs. And the Pacers don't need an all-star to fill Miller's shoes.

Hedo has a very big chance of starting five in SA according to SA GM.
As i read in turkish web site.
Also i was concern about this trade about a year.Because when Hedo came to Turkey and join the tv basketball programs. He was always asked about his future in NBA.His answer was always like that.
"i am happy in sacramento but since my first year a lot of teams were interested to trade me.Especially SA GM was trying to trade me all the time.The last time i heard it was the end of this season.On a Turkish channel he said SA tried to trade me all season long and i think they will ask again in the offseason"i dont think he is doing to make himself valuable.i mean whole trade stuff "SA wants me""LA wants me"because he is already one of the most respected player in Europe.And of course Turkey's favourite.And he has been as valuable as he can in NBA.Also according to same Turkish website;
SA GM's favourite european player was always Hedo and he has been watching him since hedo is 17.Also it says that Greg Popovich wanted Nesterovic and GM wanted Hedo.
As to summarize i believe Hedo has a big chance of play in starting five.
Reasons:
-Hedo is a damn good all-around player, nice shooting.
-Greg Popovich like Turkish fellows.(i am not sure it effects or what

)Because he lived in Turkey as a US soldier and came twice or once to Turkey for coach seminars.
-WHY NOT ? HEDO RULZZ(not as much as MEMO)
i hope you understand anything from my bad English.

Indiana was on the verge of losing Miller to denver or utah. They couldn't afford to pay the salary that miller and his agent were asking for. I thought it was good move by Indy to get at least something for Miller rather then lose him for nothing.
As Gadzuric mentioned, pollard should allow o'neal to go back to PF and should be a more then competent center in the east.
getting rid or mercer and his contract alllow Indy to resign reggie Miller without being in danger of the luxury tax. and they still may have cap room flexibility to make one a run at a veteran PG
