Al was asked why the Pacers would be wanting him back after trading him, and his answer was that sometimes you have to lose something in order to realize how much you need it. I think the answer refers to himself as well. He didn't realize what he had in Indiana, and it took a 2 year trip to Atlanta for him to realize it.
Also, I wouldn't say more depth, we have Danny Granger and Shawne Williams, and that's pretty much it. Daniels is going to be playing 1 and 2, James White is going to be playing 1 and 2 as well, and Croshere is gone. He definitley gives us that second scorer next to Jermaine.

I remember reading Al cried when he left the Pacers...i think the guy has a lot of heart for his old team.
The reality is that he would not have been allowed to hone his SF skills on a playoff team like that Pacers. He shot 25% from the 3 a couple of seasons in ATL...last year he dropped them in at 35%.
He basically used ATL as a NBDL and got paid at the same time. And now he'll head back to his original team as a starter (most likely). I'd say the guy's agent is brilliant.

That would be an interesting lineup if they started Granger at SG, Daniels at PG, then Harrington, Oneal, and a Center (Be it Pollard or Foster or Magloire) through trades. They're all fast enough they'd be able to run and gun with the best of them. I think the only weakness would be Granger at the 2 because I'm not sure how he could defend against a shooting guard.

Harrington can play SG, SF or PF so they'll have some nice lineup possibilities.

There are definitley possibilities there, except for Pollard in the starting lineup.
If Pollard is re-signed for the vet minimum it will be to have a veteran guy on the team and for some comic relief, because he is a funny guy.
Also, Foster is a PF, that was proved last season, so he won't be starting at Center, it will either be a new Center with Granger coming off the bench, or a Granger/Al/Jermaine frontcourt.
Granger can play the 2 very well, he is an excellent perimiter defender. The only problem though, is that Granger is a much better rebounder then Al (or at least he will be this year, mark my words) and I prefer him playing in the frontcourt. Better to develop Granger playing his natural position more of the time and come off the bench then to play him more at the 2 just to start him. Don't get me wrong though, Granger will play SOME 2.
Matt, I don't like Al playing SG, he's too slow.

James White playing both SG AND PG? shooting guard yes, but point guard also, dont think thats gonna happen

(but if he does, I'd be really surprised).

I'd say rather 1 and 3 than 1 and 2, James White has the playmaking ability, for real.

Do you all believe Marquis will be the starting PG? If tinsley comes in healthy I think its an obvious no, but I think he'll definitley start (assuming they offload jackson...).
Sat Jul 22, 2006 9:57 am
i think theyre gonna offload both jackson and tinsley this offseason, have johnson at the 1 and alternate between granger and marquis at the 2. Indiana is looking promising
Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:55 am
Granger is a 3. Marquis will play 1 and 2 for sure. Sometimes 3
Sat Jul 22, 2006 12:00 pm
So White can play the point? Shit, I should've used him more often in my dynasty then.
He never seemed like the kind of player that was that multi-faceted, but he probably won't be able to run the point full-time at that position though.
It seems like the more I think about it, the more I believe White is a good pick. He's long, solid defensively, athletic as hell and is supposedly a hard worker despite the attitude problems he's had in the past.

Where does Shawne Williams fit now? Backup SF/PF?
Sun Jul 23, 2006 12:03 am
Jermaine will be pleased to have his pal back and vice versa. But I dont think it will mean a whole lot for the Pacers season.
Sun Jul 23, 2006 1:34 am
This deal should be done by now. It might have been a false alarm. I sure hope not.
Sun Jul 23, 2006 5:15 am
Yeah. . We need some Confirmation
Sun Jul 23, 2006 5:19 pm
Al Harrington averaged 18.6ppg, 6.9rpg, 3.1apg and plus JO on the same team this is looking good for the Pacers
Mon Jul 24, 2006 1:58 am
Well, it's looking like Anthony Johnson is gone for... Darrell Armstrong?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2527560
Indy must be devastated.
Mon Jul 24, 2006 2:31 am
After Johnson's playoff performance I would've expected him to be worth a little more than just a veteran presence.
Mon Jul 24, 2006 3:15 pm
^^ somebody had to step up in that series. .it could have been anyone!! I think anthony Johnson wanted to be somewhere else anyways
Mon Jul 24, 2006 4:06 pm
Indy got ripped off, Armstrong is sh!t
Mon Jul 24, 2006 4:16 pm
Yup...
maybe its included in the croshere/daniels trade
Josh Powell,Rawle Marshall,Darell Armstrong and Marquis Daniels
for
Austin Croshere and Anthony Johnson

In my opinion Marquis is a better PG than SG. I would like him to be the starting PG for the Pacers next season.
Mon Jul 24, 2006 11:56 pm
if he can cut down the turnovers that is but it is an intriguing thought of having
1: daniels
2: granger
3: harrington
4: jo
5: foster
they'd out rebound and outmuscle the hell out of everyone but not much else

Wow. I've never seen a starting lineup in which 4 of 5 players are playing out of position before. Congratulations.
