The key to the Pacers success is finding guys who can be stars, but are a little bit unsafe. We need to find hidden gems, like when we found Jermaine.

Banks is a guy that could break out any time, so is Daniels. That lineup is a very good lineup.

Saras better not be the starter next year, and he won't be.

Wed Jul 12, 2006 1:23 am

saras is probably more fitted to the robert horry/steve kerr type of role anyways

Wed Jul 12, 2006 7:00 am

Omg, from http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/s ... index.html :

The Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers are in advanced discussions involving a trade that would send Bonzi Wells to the Pacers to replace the firepower lost from Peja Stojakovic's departure to New Orleans. The trade would send Jeff Foster and Sarunas Jasikevicius to Sacramento in a sign-and-trade for Bonzi Wells.
-- DraftExpress.com

I don't want that :? Why not switch Jax for Bonzi? I don't think he's worth our best rebounder and best shooter..Besides, it would make no sense. Bird wanted Saras 2 years ago so badly and now he's finally got him, he trades him away...Hope it doesn't happen..

Wed Jul 12, 2006 2:03 pm

Don't worry its not true.

EDIT: Maybe it is.

Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:25 pm

I doubt they are gonna trade Saras. We can live without Bonzi Wells!!

Yeah, Pacers find their success in hidden gems. . I mean Reggie Miller was a hidden Gem, and he was the face of their franchise. I'm just saying Pacers have a good team, they just need to get their shit together and become ONE. I hated watching that team last year, they acted like they didn't care anymore!! It was sad!! Saras is a good point guard, they should use him and tinsley to sun up the floor, then use anthony jonshon for more set plays. .. cause that's his game. He takes his time

Thu Jul 13, 2006 12:24 am

the pacers need to get everyone healthy and get some chemistry going... get harrington or wells.... that's all they need and there they are contending in the not so soft east again

Thu Jul 13, 2006 4:03 am

Ok, that rumour is not true. From http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/s ... index.html :

The Pacers are still in the running for Al Harrington. It will take a sign-and-trade deal for the Pacers to acquire Harrington. Golden State reportedly also is interested in Harrington. Contrary to reports, a team official said Tuesday the Pacers are not interested in acquiring Bonzi Wells from Sacramento for Jeff Foster and Sarunas Jasikevicius.

I'd rather ger Harrington back. . .plus there's also talk about Indiana being involved in a trade with Jamal Magloire!! a 5 team deal!! supposedly

Jamaal Magloire: Trade Expected Soon

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Wednesday, July 12, 2006
Update: Magloire is expected to be traded within the next couple of days, the Racine Journal Times reports.

Recommendation: This isn't the first time we've heard of an impending trade involving Magloire. Some NBA officials claim Milwaukee is entertaining offers from five teams, including Washington and Indiana.

Except Banks is a S&T so there is no way to know that.

They cant S&T him as the T-pups dont have his bird rights.

Also, Pacers acquire a 7.5 million trade exception from the Peja S&T to Nawlins. With this trade X, you guys might as well prepare the welcome back party for Al Harrington.

Being a Bucks fan I would say a big no thank-you. While Jackson would fill our need for a 2/3 backup he's not the type of wingman they're looking for. Also the pacers would have to include another player (most likely a PG) or a pick.

Listen to Indy, Donnie :P

lol and sign wells or harrington

Donnie Walsh had a press conference yesterday, Go to Pacers.com to see, it's 1/2 hour long

You might as well just post what he basically said instead of a post like that (assuming you watched it).

Fri Jul 14, 2006 7:48 am

He didn't say a heck of a lot. He never does in press conferences. Just skims the surface of every issue.

I'm really starting to want Magloire, if we can get Magloire and Al with some combonation of AJ/Tinsley/Jackson/Foster and the newly acquired trade exemption, we'll be in good shape.

Fri Jul 14, 2006 4:03 pm

I think Jackson might be gone...but I think we can still use him

Indy wrote:I'm really starting to want Magloire, if we can get Magloire and Al with some combonation of AJ/Tinsley/Jackson/Foster and the newly acquired trade exemption, we'll be in good shape.

Who do you want to play the point, Sarunas and Marquis? When you trade them away you have simply no depth at the PG and have to aquire another PG. Also if me being Indiana fan I wouldn't like the idea of giving Jeff Foster away, because he is the best rebounder on this team.

I would go after Al Harrington and forget about Magloire. Magloire is overrated in my opinion. His all-star presence some years ago came only because the East lacked good front-court players. This has changed the last two seasons, the East gets tougher and tougher. Of course he works hard and is one of the elite rebounders in the league. But if you have Harrison (promising youngster), Foster (rebound-machine), O'Neal (self explaining) and perhaps Al Harrington I think the front-court is fine. And the fact that Danny Granger is also capable of playing PF sometimes I think Magloire would be useless.

Also look at the stats:
http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball/fantasy/nba/milwaukee-bucks/players/jamaal-magloire/profile/06/16/232
Won 26, lost 46 matchups. Against top 10 Centers he is even worse, winning only 25% of his matchups. The year before, where he was injured was quite similar. Won 6, lost 13 matchups. Against top 10 centers he won 2, lost 6 matchups. In his All-star year of course he was better, winning 50 of his 82 matchups. Needless to say that this mustn't mean all and I don't like to use stats to justify something. But here I think it makes some sense.

If he plays C, he gets problems in the East by B. Wallace, Shaq, Ilgauskas, JO (assuming he plays Center for Indiana), Bogut (assuming he gets stronger in the Off-season and that's quite sure), Chris Bosh (should Rasho not be the starting man for the Raps), Dalembert (when healthy and accepted by Philly's coach) and Nenad Krstic. In my opinion all these guys are better than him. So what would help Indiana acquiring him? At the PF it doesn't look quite better. Villanueva is listed higher than him, Chris Bosh is better when playing PF, Webber is old and has changed his style but can more than only compete with him, a healthy Channing Frye can kick his ass, Sheed can bomb threes on him, Okafor is stronger, Dwight Howard - do I have to explain this, Antawn Jamison is also a big matchup problem for him.

And when you look at the names posted above, you'll see that in the year of his All-star appearance most of them weren't ready for the nba, played in college or the East. So comeone, don't trade for this guy...

THE ONLY REASON I WOULD TRADE FOR HIM is because he is an FA as far as I know after 2006/2007. Perhaps one could include him in a another nice trade-package. But out of sportive view I wouldn't make the deal you proposed. Although Indy should get rid of some shitty players...

Man, their are so much weird posts and trade proposals... :D

I want to acquire another PG reguardless. We may have a lot of point guards right now, but that doesn't mean we have a lot of depth. I want to keep one of either Sarunas or AJ, and trade Tinsley. However, if we keep Tinsley, then we have to keep one of those two, because with Tinsley you need 2 other point guards in the rotation. Just because I listed all those players doesn't mean all of them would be gone for Magloire and Harrington, just that those are the guys to offer. Whoever is remaining on that list then has to get shipped out for a pg. Mo Williams? Andre Miller? Delonte West? Marcus Banks? (That seems a whole lot less likely now though) Brevin Knight? Any of those guys would make me happy.

elwudl wrote:Also if me being Indiana fan I wouldn't like the idea of giving Jeff Foster away, because he is the best rebounder on this team.

Yes, but Jeff doesn't fit in with the type of team we are trying to build, he is falling out of favor. We want a quicker more athletic team that can score and play out on the break. Austin was the first of our slow guys to be traded and Jeff is next.

If we want to compete this year, our frontcourt needs to look like this: Harrington/O'Neal/Magloire. I don't like the idea of JO having to play Center full time, and a Granger/Al/JO frontline is too weak rebounding wise and interior defensively. I love Granger, but if we are going to make a move this season, then Granger can come off the bench for another year. I know I was going crazy in this thread saying Peja probably needs to go because Granger needs to start, but I have no problem bringing him off the bench one more year for Al. If we do acquire Al, then we need to get a guy like Magloire that can rebound, and play post defense. JO also asked for a Center JUST like Magloire, so he'd get what he needs, less pressure defensively.

I don't care about any of the stats you posted, that's worthless information. He's a better post defender then anyone we have right now, and its not like the people we would be trading for him can do anything against the people you mentioned.

Where did I say JO should start @Center? I did ask for Harrison and Foster?

And good to know you know you were getting crazy.

Harrison isn't quite ready to start yet and Foster is a power forward.

Sat Jul 15, 2006 3:32 pm

Indiana needs a Big Centre like Magloire. . Pollard doesn't do much on the floor, I hope he doesn't resign. Foster is a keeper

I hope Marquis can provide some instant offense cause that's what the Pacers lack!! Shawne Williams and James White should have good reookie seasons

Jeff Foster is the Best Offensive Rebound on the Pacers

Granger should start, he just has that confidence and can provide on both ends of the floor

I'm expecting a break out year for Harrison, if that happens. . Indiana will be VERY dangerous no doubt

About the Raps. . Rasho is gonna start, Bosh aint playin centre this year unless they can exploit mismatches!!

Good deal. Not because of Armstrong but because of Powell/Marshall. Now Tinsley better be healthy. Oh and there's rumour that Fred Jones is headed to Toronto (since Salmons backed away from the deal). I hope Indiana matches the offer (Y) http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... e_to_deal/

Mon Jul 24, 2006 2:32 am

I also hope Indiana matches the offer as well. I'm not a Fred Jones fan, especially since I saw him win the dunk contest.

Mon Jul 24, 2006 4:05 am

looks like Indiana are making significant roster moves.
