why wouldn't it? i think that nash would figure out detroit just fine.... it's not like they have the best defensive club right now with the impending loss of wallace and with flip in the house

Yeah, just shift Billups over to SG, Hamilton to SF, Prince to PF, Wallace to C, lol. It'd work fine... whats scary is it probably would.

I think New Orleans could have done alot better than getting peja and tyson.

And how would we have managed that? There were only two big name free agents out there this season. Peja and Ben Wallace. We got one of them.

Tyson Chandler might be a gamble ... but you have to gamble to have a chance at winning big time.

As for PJ. Don't look on his numbers. Chicago should be excited to get him. Besides providing you with $8 mill cap relief at the end of next season, he is one of the greatest locker room guys in the NBA right now, a veteran who can teach your young guys a lot ... besides, I (and most of the Hornets fans) think Chicago will trade him to a contender come the trade deadline, so that PJ has his shot at a ring (which he more than deserves).

JR is something else. Consensus around Hornets fans is, that he is a spoiled brat who won't make in the NBA. He has to start to listen to coach or he is out of the league once his rookie contract is finished. He has tremendous potential and we all know thats worth a lot in the NBA these days. But he'll be failing to live up to it ...

We will see how this trade pans out for the Hornets, but we look like a playoff lock right now. Even with the team last season, we could have been 5th or 6th in the seeding ... this seems to be a lock now.

good post. JR Smith seems like a punk. I hope Skiles brings up his hard ass tactics a few notches for JR Smith. i'm not expecting much but he is only going into 3rd year in the league so there is some hope.

however i don't agree with the bold part. since Paxson has taken over the Bulls, he's always kept around some veteran-good guy types. and it wouldn't make sense to trade away Brown and his expiring contract unless he's getting another one in return/draft pick.


i'm glad Chandler is gone. this officially ends the Jerry Krause era as he was the last player left from his tenure. and finally now i can start forgetting and stop making excuses for the worst trade in Chicago Bulls history, maybe even in Chicago sports history

maybe Chandler will do better in a different situation. but i don't think it's going to happen. he's perceived as a hard worker but Hornets fans- don't be fooled by him when he talks about bringing up his game to another level or when he yells/beats his chest after he makes a good play

as i mentioned in another thread, he hasn't improved in any facets of his game since he came to the league. he's been in the league for 4yrs and still has no resemblance of a competent offensive game, can't catch the ball, still gets pushed off the blocks, etc...

i see it being good for chicago cause pj is really a good player who does provide them with cap space and as stated is a veteran big man that the bulls need. as far as jr smith i looked at his contract and saw that it has a team option on the final year so im sure if he will be tryin his hardest to get himself a bigtime contract extension. if the bulls dont like him they can jus decide not to pick up that option and have even more money to play with.

Agreed. He's 6'6", 220 lbs and athletic and has showed hints of being a decent player, if Skiles can bring him around attitude-wise he might turn out to be a good acquisition. Otherwise, he can be cut loose next offseason to free up around $1 mil.

With Piatkowski rumoured to be leaving, they have three players who could be called swingmen and JR Smith will make four. Seeing as though he and Sefolosha are listed as guards and Deng and Khryapa are 6'9" and listed as forwards, I don't think there's much of a logjam.

Woudlnt you consider Nocioni a swingman Andrew? And even Tyrus Thomas is supposed to be able to play SF, but I doubt he'll do that on the Bulls.

Can Nocioni play SG? Don't think so. Would rather say he's a tweener at SF/PF, but we had such a discussion already!

well I suppose I meant SF/PF swingman but he is still a SF and would be a 5th player that can play SF on the roster. But, JR Smith will likely only play the 2.

If you consider who the Bulls have at the 2 spot:

Ben Gordon
Thabo Sefalosha
J.R. Smith

Now... Gordon has the 2 spot on lock. Sefalosha might be in the NBDL as he acclimates to the NBA. If that happens, it opens the door for Smith. However, Sefalosha will more than likely be active in this season's outcome. That effectively closes the door on him being a contributor save an injury to Gordon, Deng, or Nocioni.

Anyway... that's just about it.

Hmm swingman is usually a guard/forward.

JR Smith is a pure SG...he's spent less than 1% of his PT at the 3. I wouldn't be surprised if the new guy beats out JR for the backup 2 position...JR seems to have really gone backwards form his impressive 2nd half of his rookie year.

I don't see Nocioni or Thomas as being able to effectively swing between forward and guard nor do I expect them to, so no, I wouldn't call them swingmen.

Well I suppose I meant multiple position players. We already had the swingman thread so I guess they arent technically swing man, but they still are SF players to go along with Deng and Khryapa. But even then thats really only 3 players who play the SF spot a lot, along with 3 SG's.

Maybe its the PF position they'll have a logjam at. Songalia, Allen, Thomas, Brown, Sweetney, Harrington, and even Khryapa (he played a lot of PF in Portland but I'm sure that'll change in Chicago).

Songalia and Harrington won't be back. Tyrus Thomas would be tweening both the 3 and the 4. Khryapa might not even make the roster. Malik Allen might be behind Wallace.

I really don't see the logjam.

I dont see Tyrus Thomas playing much at SF because they already have 2 very good SF's. As of now Malik is listed as a PF, that can change though, so they still have Brown, Thomas, Sweetney, and Allen. But I suppose when you have 12 active players there is going to be a logjam at at least one position, so its not really that big of a deal.

hi! well I'm happy fo Chandler and the Bulls organization. It was about time coz Chandler wasn't doing any good to the Bulls, same thing is happening to KG in Minnesota what's what he needs to understand and packs his bags.
