Peja Stojakovic to sign with the Hornets!

Peja became a free agent in an effort to get a better deal and it looks like he's got it. Even though the Pacers don't have anything to show for the Artest deal and it's a blow anytime you lose a key player without compensation, I must agree with Indy; paying Peja in the range of $12 million per year would hardly have been a fantastic move either.

As it stands, it's not a perfect deal for the Hornets since it's a lot of money to spend on a player who's a great shooter and effective scorer but is at best average defensively and has disappeared in the Playoffs before as well as has possessing questionable leadership abilities. That said, he's still a good acquisition despite the price tag and it seems less of a risk for the Hornets to shell out that kind of money than it does for the Pacers. New Orleans is on the rise again while Indiana is in a position where they might have to re-tool and they hardly need contracts that are difficult to move.

I also think its a pretty steep contract ... but I guess thats how it is these days. If you don't overpay, someone else will. And Peja is about the biggest FA signing the Hornets ever did. We'll see if this pans out or not. But at least its a pretty good sign that players now starting to want to come here ... I guess Chris Paul has that kind of effect.

Now lets hope this rumored Tyson Chandler deal goes through as well and we look pretty good for next season. Playoffs here we come ...

i was hoping he would sign with the bulls.

I thought so too because of what we'd been hearing about him over the year and wanting to play with guys from his country and the Bulls team having someone(don't know who) from there.

And I thought Peja's best choice'd be the suns cause of the stule of ball they play, but I don't know if they could afford him or want him.

I'km sure Pacers are gonna sign the new players they drafted. . They both want to be in Indiana. and to trade Jermaine O'neil now. . you gotta be crazy. Their team is nice, they just need someone to step up and score. And with the new system that brid wants I'm sure everyone will step up

They should trade O'Neal and get some quality young players in their team if they are looking to rebuild.

funny how quickly the once vaulted deep roster of the pacers has dimished to one of the weakest in the league

Outside of the money, this is a good signing for the Hornets...as long as Peja can stay healthy, and play like 03-04 Peja. This gives them needed outside shooting, it also gives them a nice +20 PPG scorer, and a great guy for CP3 to kick out to in drive and dish situations.

very true, David West was the only big time, consistent scorer they had last season and for any team to be good they need a consistent big time scorer.

there wasn't anyone on the Bulls from his homeland but there is a big serbian population in Chicago. Also Scott Skiles used to coach the international team Peja played on
