Darn it! We dont get to see the ceremony :(

Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:45 pm

ben wallace's face in disappointment was priceless. congrats to the heat. at this point i don't give a shit who wins, just as long as its not the pistons.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:47 pm

Dang. I really wanted Detroit to win.

Of course, with how abysmal they played against Cleveland, I doubted it, but still. I like Detroit, and all their players, and I can't believe they blew it so bad. They were the best team, but they blew it.

I don't like the Heat. Hate Shaq, HATE Antoine Walker, meh to the rest of the team and their playing style.

Hopefully the Mavs can beat the Heat.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:47 pm

Well this is THE WORST PISTONS SEASON EVER that i've witnessed. After winning 64 games and getting HC throughout, there was NO GOING BACK.

Tonight, ABSOLUTELY NO EFFORT. 2 Players earnt their pay check.....1. Hamilton....he stayed aggressive even when his shot wasn't falling 2. Delk...he player with energy & heart. Everyone else should forfeit their paychecks.

Billups, this entire series was OVERDRIBBLING whilst everyone (except Hamilton) was just standing around like stooges. Rasheed Wallace, should have been on the IR, that's how much he contributed. Ben Wallace did not rebound in this game and should be stripped of his DPOY for this pitiful game. Prince wasn't there.

Overall this game was shit......the shooting was pathetic....missed shot after missed shot, and they were good looks too. Hell this team even fucked up 3 fast breaks where they had an OBVIOUS advantage.

Defensively, how could Billups allow Williams to shoot 10-10? He should be stripped of his All-D 2nd team for that shit and banished forever if he doesn't play defense.

Offensively, Flip Saunders system was a joke. Where were his zone busters? The team looked impotent all over. Even the Pistons of old, the ones that used to start ERIC MONTROSS, CHUCKY ATKINS, MICHAEL CURRY & BEN WALLACE were'nt this bad offensively.

and the worst offender was EFFORT. which is the MOST OVERRATED PART OF DETROITS GAME. If this team actually gave effort for a full 48 they would be champs. This team just coasts too much, unlike the Pistons under Carlisle (who was a bad playoff coach but maximized effort!). Theres a reason Pistons bench sucks, they don't get PT because the starters start coasting once they get a lead and the game is still even....Game 1 for example had Wade & Shaq in foul trouble and Pistons didn;t capitalize on that.

So now it's the offseason with a pending Free-Agency for Wallace. Interesting stuff.......Let's go Dallas, maybe Stackhouse can get a ring!!!! Till then, i'm gonna play NBA Live, at least the CPU- Pistons don't coast.

Congratulations Miami.....Wade is just insane. **applauds**

Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:49 pm

Fuck this Heat for NBA Champions. We all know that Mavericks are going to win.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:55 pm

Anybody notice Flip Saunders' sunburn? LOOOL he looks roasted.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 1:03 pm

Wow, the Pistons fought but eve3n if they won this game...they didnt deserve it. The Heat played amazing on offense and theyre defense, pourus at times, still kept Detroit from putting the ball in the bucket.

SHAQ, thats all i can say. He said he wasnt gonna have 2 bad games in a row and he was magnificent. All the drop steps and jump hooks were falling and he was getting such good position on Ben/Sheed/Dyce there was no stopping him. Wade, Flu and all, played out of his gourge and showed how he cann dominate the game scoring or playmaking. Walker had the three-point shot going and he was getting past Tay off the dribble (unfortunatly the shimmy also came out...) Jason Williams and his Wigger ass had a good game. As much as I hate his guts he played smart and just overall better then his counterpart on Detroit. The Bench for Miami was good and they did theyre job i congratulate them.

Ah, now the Pistons...what can i say...oh um this...i had to dig deep for it too

Not that Flip looked nervous, but he melted down as much as a coach could. He was afraid to double Shaq which turned out to be a big mistake and he didnt run a single play in that last 6mins. That being said, it wasnt all his fault. The Pistons had NO energy at all in that game and they couldnt throw a rock inn the ocean. There was no movement in the offense and if there was it didnt have any meaning to it, they were just going through the motions and decided to try to turn it up late but it was too late. The Big three for Detroit was terrible and they had no fluency at all.

The only posotive of this series was that Tayshaun Prince is now a bonafide NBA star. He was the only guy who showed up this series. Now idk what the Pistons should do. The need someone like Wade, not of his caliber, but they need a skilled swing who can pass and score.

Ugh thats my rant sorry for your time.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 1:13 pm

Being down by double digits every game away from home didn't help. Now , looking back , how important was that Game 1 against the Heat? If the Pistons had won game 1 , the series would be tied 3-3 and there would be a game 7 , where the Pistons would probably feed off the Palace crowd and energy and win to become 3-time Eastern Conference Champions. Instead , their poor play away from home cost them this opportunity.

Yup, we should kill those fuckers because they lost the game.

Congrats to Miami, they were hitting everything in the 3rd quarter (Y) Williams missed the easiest shot, he could have gone for the record

Sat Jun 03, 2006 1:29 pm

If I were to choose between whether the Heat won or the Pistons lost, I'd choose the former.

This is exactly why, even though I live in Detroit, I have to root against the Pistons. The city is filled with fairweather fans who don't know squat about basketball. I didn't hear any complaints during the regular season about Flip's offense and defense but now all of a sudden its a joke. How about the fact the Miami played really well. Honestly, the Pistons are overrated and have been for the last few years. They most likely would have lost to Miami last year too had Wade been healthy.

Its pretty ridiculous how TV announcers try to portray Detroit as a great basketball city and the Piston faithful as loyal fans who supported them even when the team was bad but I can assure you nothing could be further from the truth. All the people complaining now about Saunders were singing his praises just a few weeks ago and when Larry Brown left.
Matt, this isn't a personal attack on you but I'm sick of all these so called Pistons turning on the team when they struggle and jumping on the bandwagon when things are going well. It's funny how over an extremely short period of time a very large number of people became diehard lifelong Pistons fans and now will hate and criticize the Pistons.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 4:12 pm

i thought i saw Matt being so proud of Pistons when they were losing to Cavs like they are his heroes.. saying they will come back because they are shiznit.. which they did. And now he talks crap about how pistons had their worst season and players should all give up their paychecks. Cmon..

Sat Jun 03, 2006 4:24 pm

fuck all u miami haters
ur all just jealous
now tht miami is advancing
neither dallas or phoenix will be able to stop shaq defensively.
phoenix might have a chance if they still had amare stoudomire.
but diaw?? shaq will pound him
marion?? shaq has half a foot on him
i think phoenix might have to resort to thomas playing center.
dallas has a better chance defensively but wades speed will kill them

Sat Jun 03, 2006 4:30 pm

I'm not pissed off at the result, i'm pissed off at the lack of effort displayed it's as simple as that. That's where the players are at fault, as for Saunders his offense just disappeared (although players missing shots had a big part in it)....look back into the regular season and you'd see Detroit running a varied offense, one game i remember against Boston on the first 15 plays he run 15 DIFFERENT sets....and then in the playoffs it's the same repeat plays that don't get the team anywhere. Too much standing around.

Now i hear Carlos Delfino will request a trade....just great, one guy that could of really helped the team if he got the necessary PT.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 4:36 pm

no matter the outcome of the 2006 finals
i think we will be saying good bye to gary payton and perhaps Zo

Yep, I think so too. I sure hope both of them can have the chance to win a championship this year.

I also feel kinda sorry for Flip Saunders. I always liked his coaching style with the Wolves, and I really think he's getting unfair treatment here. The players couldn't keep their egos in check... and I dont think that is something the coach can really control.

If they win it all it wouldnt suprise me to see them stick around for one more year. Zo more so. He is looking very healthy as of late.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 7:12 pm

Zo will probably stay around. He could earn nice money in FA and he certainly has some gas left in the tank.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 7:50 pm

My prediction came true Heat 4-2 over the Pistons :proud:
Great win by the Heat.Shaq was dominating them all.
I can't wait for the finals to begin.Who cares if they are at 3.00 a.m. here in Slovenia.I'm still gonna watch them.

Matt lives in Perth, which isn't too close to Detroit.

I don't think either plan on retiring. Payton might move to a West Coast team to be closer to his family, but if it's retirement you're implying, I disagree.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 9:14 pm

Talk about moving on in style. Shaq and Williams did a great job carrying the scoring load with Wade ailing with Shaq turning in a retro performance. I think the Diesel himself put it best the other day when he said at this point of his career he has to defer to a player like Wade but he can still "bust you up". Pistons fans will understandably disagree but this is shaping up to be quite an interesting NBA Finals. Whatever happens from here on out, someone will be winning the first title in team history.
