Morris Peterson is an amazing role player. He's consistent (although he has only shown that this year), hardworking on both ends of the court, and provides a leadership role to the younger players. He doesn't have an ego and isn't going to cause a ruckus in the locker room.
His offensive game is solid. His jump shot's range has never been questioned, but only recently has Morris Peterson developed a consistent "go-to" mid-range pull up jumper. He can really burn you from beyond the arc and he isn't afraid of taking the big shots near the end of the game, but he never forces his offence and plays within the context of his game. He's capable of being an offensive spark that can really get your team going because when he's hit a few threes you can't really stop him. He isn't just a jump shooting either. Morris Peterson has the strength, size and quickness to slash to the paint and he can really do damage in there, especially since he's a lefty. He can finish strong and gets plenty of three point plays because of his underrated athleticism. On the defensive side, he's pretty solid, although he isn't a lockdown defender. He takes a lot of charges and really knows how to play with his feet. You aren't going to question his effort on either end of the court though, this guy brings it all 82 games because he plays all 82 games. He's hardly ever injured and he'll do whatever it takes to win because he's such a great competitor. If you're trying o define someone who "plays the right way", Morris Peterson is your guy.
If there is a weakness in Mo Pete, it has to be his dribbling. He relies too much on using his size and strength sometimes when he's driving to the basket, but overall I don't really see this as a problem. He does get streaky at times and can settle for too many threes, but he's matured a lot as a player this year I don't really see that many weaknesses.
I'll do Sam Cassell tomorrow, but I warn you, I'm a big Sam I am fan.
