Before he arrived, the Nets were 10-16, and his play was the reason they finished 42-40.

wasn't J Kidd out with a bum knee too? then he came back when Vince came in.

He came back once vince was already there and establish, but jefferson was also out then as well.

great game by vince (Y) his case seems to become similar to kobe's. people just hate him somewhy and are desperately looking for ANY ways to critisize him. He is New Jersey's # 1 offensive force and has been ever since he arrived in NJ. I hope the team goes far in the playoffs so this bitching will end for some time.

The criticism was justified a few years ago. He wasn't playing up to par as he was earlier in his career and he was constantly plagued with injuries, so his heart was always questioned. If you watched Raptor games during his final season before he was traded you can tell that he wasn't playing the way he is playing right now at all.

yes I agree. he didn't give a full effort in toronto at the end and there's no-one else to blame, but he has been just what the nets needed this season, so the reputation or whatsoever that has stuck with him is pure hatred at this point.

I just witnessed Vince's disappearing act in the second half of tonight's game. The jury is out on you Vince!

Fri Apr 28, 2006 4:03 pm

hmm yea that seemed strange. Vince is too inconsistent sometimes. I guess Indiana put the big D on him

When you look at how all the perimeter players are playing in the playoffs though, he isn't choking by any means:

Vince: 29.7 PPG | 43.2% FG | 20% 3PT | 8.7 FTA/G | 1.7 TPG

Lebron: 29.0 PPG | 36.5% FG | 20% 3PT | 13 FTA/G | 7.0 TPG

Arenas: 28.0 PPG | 38.6% FG | 26.7% 3PT | 12 FTA/G | 2.5 TPG

Wade: 25.7 PPG | 42.9% FG | 8.7 FTA/G | 4.0 TPG

Kobe: 25.5 PPG | 42.4% FG | 28.6% 3PT | 7 FTA/G | 3.5 TPG

I think the Nets as a whole are choking in the playoffs. In the 3rd quarter last night, where it all fell apart, they shot 3-18 and free throws were bad too with 9-14.

Thats only 3 games...

If VC have another game with above 5 3s attempts, then its all over.

You still can't justify Vince's choking. He's shot a decent field goal percentage and sure he played badly in the second half against Indiana, but if three games isn't an accurate depiction of a player then 1 game can't be also.

Indiana just happened to be New Jersey's worst choice to to face in the first round. They got punished by Jermaine O'Neal and Collins/Robinson/Kristic need to have a better effort on the glass. They got outrebounded offensively like 9 to nothing in game three.

Okay?

I was giving an argument for Vince, I don't know why you're telling me it's only three games. Either way he's still scoring more and as or more efficiently than all the other main guys. Carmelo isn't in there, but he's been terrible, 21.7 PPG, 34.5% FG, 12 FTA/G, 2.33 TPG

He isnt choking but he can play alot better, he needs to be more aggressive, not settle for the outside jumper, and drive into the paint for the thunderous dunk! Like he did back in his early years at the Raptors.

Admittedly I didn't see the game today but his stat line - 28 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 6 steals, 0 turnovers, 9/15 FG (a conservative 1/2 from downtown) - suggests that in his latest outing the good outweighed the bad.

Sun Apr 30, 2006 9:26 pm

and out of those stats provided Vince is doing it against tougher defense than the others.

He would've been 9-14 too if not for the shot when their was like 17 seconds left and New Jersey had to shoot to not get a shot clock violation. He played a great game today.
