Well i wouldnt put Jermaine O'Neal in this group, i know he is very good, but he isnt recigonized as a superstar, and doesn't get calls. There arent many players in this group, i could add Kobe to the list after seeing that charge he did on nash, that went in his favor.

thats like saying you are going against a guy in a video game where he can use cheats and you cant, and he beats you every time. If they allow these players to get away with that physical D, its just cheating unless they let the other team get away with it too.

No it isnt. Its like playing against someone who is so much better than you, they can abuse the bugs in a game and get away with it, because you dont know how to do it.

it has nothing to do with who is better, its two players doing the same thing and one player getting the call and the other player doesn't.

It doesnt?
But yet these great defensive players can slap and hit their opponent all game and get no calls.

Fri Apr 28, 2006 5:10 pm

yeah, the reason why they are great is because they get away with no calls.

Fri Apr 28, 2006 5:32 pm

What im saying is, they may get away with it, but that is what makes them so good.
They are able to disguise their fouls enough so that they dont get called, so that when they do foul, the refs arent looking for it.

Don't even talk with the Pistons and Heat fans, they haven't experienced it ever because that's what they've seen forever and have biased opinions.

Sat Apr 29, 2006 8:15 am

except referees aren't good at seeing things, and you could commit an obvious foul like Kwame Brown tackling Raja Bell and not get any calls.

dinocarlo wrote:Come on, that's not always the case. Even Kobe can get superstar treatment. And besides, the refs are human so it's natural for them to make mistakes.

I watched almost all of the Laker games this year and when Kobe doesn't get a call he yells at/glares at the ref that didn't make a call. THen on the next posession he demands the ball, drives it and gets a makeup call.

So many players get into foul trouble guarding Kobe because of this...
For example, the last regular season Phx/Lakers game, Barbosa was constantly getting called for a foul when Kobe flails his arms.
Also, when they played Utah and at the end of the game there was a phantom foul on Kobe's defender... he eventually hit the FTs and sent it into OT.

Why 8 seeds will never beat a 1 seed ever again.

That's untrue, an 8 seeded team CAN beat a no. 1 seed ...again, but it just would take years man. We don't know what's next for the SAC-SAS series but it might turn out 4-2 in favor of Sacramento, or 4-2 for Milwaukee's triumph over Detroit? _nuff said.

not this year, but someday... someday... some...day...

Kings are looking good in the last 2 games. I expect the Spurs to make adjustments though. We don't know, someone in the Kings might do a Derek Fisher

As for the East, the number 1 team will beat number 8 this year, no question.

Also, I wanna ask the one who started this thread something. I'm surprised Bowen ain't on your list. Ray Allen hates his defensive style so much

Thats got nothing to do with it for me because I rarely get to watch NBA games, and when I do, the quality isnt even good enough to see these 'touchy-feely' calls that everyones so pissed off about.
The only way I 'know' that Hamilton/Wallaces get special treatment, is from other people bitching about it.

Pistons in the '80's, being the Bad Boys, were hit by plenty of cheap shots.

Parrish cold-cocked Lambier running up the court; no foul.

Malone elbows Thomas; no foul.

Refs are imperfect.

And besides, the play-offs are more physical. Rip doesn't get called because in the play-offs, most refs let them play.

so true. I started reffing intramural leagues this year at my school, and it's SO hard not to call make-up calls.

Bullshit. Lambier was the king of cheap shots, and you KNOW that.

How about 7 seed beating a 2 seed, is that good enough?

Mon May 01, 2006 2:16 pm

how about 8 people beating 5, is that good enough?

Your posts aren't good enough.

The whole NLSC beating the crap out of you is good enough.

Kings might beat spurs (Y)

Tue May 02, 2006 6:35 am

I really hope the Kings beat the Spurs... the Mavs are looking to be the only really dominant team though.

Tue May 02, 2006 8:37 am

Does anybody else think tghat this Playoffs are getting extremely entertaining? We have both 8th seeds winning by 20+ in their last game, and one of the series is 2-2. The 2nd-7th matchup is awesome, with the Bulls getting momentum and tying with Miami; and the Lakers, up 3-1. Cavs-Wizards will probably go to 7. And the Pacers can win anytime against NJ. The only "easy" series to predict are Mavs-Grizz & Clips-Nuggets, and even there you get some ball-grabbing to make it fun

Tue May 02, 2006 6:57 pm

Agreed, so far it is proving to be less predictable than last year.

considering who the mavs beat I wouldn't be too quick to call them dominant yet. One misstep and dirk will undoubtebly revert back to his old psychotic ways swearing in german and jumping up and down while spanking dampier.

True. :D But he never did anything so blatant.

The Bad Boys were, well, the Bad Boys.

I am just saying, it all evens out.
