Um, im not sure what your point is with that  . And malone has worn number 11, ewing number 6..

Well, I guess we are both right, but originally, they wore the numbers in my pictures.

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:12 pm

 What?

I said "And malone has worn number 11, ewing number 6", and posted pictures attempting to prove that Malone wore 32 and Ewing 33 (like any basketbal didn't know that already  ).

I'm starting to think you're related to wisdom kid, someway, somehow.

but no one will remember Malone as a Laker and Ewing as a Magic. Hell I forgot those numbers, I'll always associate #33 to patrick ewing and #32 to Karl Malone

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:15 pm

You'll assciate 32 to Malone and not Magic? 33 to ewing and not bird? Wow

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:17 pm

To me, you basically said Amphatoast's post was a joke with that laughing emoticon, and right after that it seemed like you were saying he was wrong by saying Malone and Ewing wore 32 and 33. So I decided to post pics becuase you made your post sound like he was wrong, and then you call me an idiot (which was kind of uncalled for) and yeah... I think I said enough.

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:19 pm

You dont even make sense. I'm sure your parents are real proud of you :)

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:21 pm

Care to tell me how it doesn't make sense?

I feel like I could have this conversation for the rest of my life :wall:

Your paragraph was a little convulated.

my point was many big men wore those numbers so shaq changing from 32 to 34 is still a "big man" number

and on associating #33 to ewing and #32 to malone, i meant when you talk about those players.. you think of ewing in his knicks days ( always #33) and malone in his Jazz days ( always 32)

and no you'll eventually lose because Kobe changing from #8 to 24 is significant, especially from a marketing standpoint.

I'm probably wrong..but Kobe prolly chose 24 to signify that he's the next step after Jordan. The increment of 23 is ofcourse...24

haha same thing i was thinking. Couldn't think of a better reason, too ironic

unless he just multiples 8 by the # of rings he has

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:31 pm

The article mentions he did once wear #24, so it does have some historical significance unrelated to Jordan.

all that arguing with matthew made me forget that lol, but it's still funny its 1 after 23

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:37 pm

He wore #24 throughout high school, so it's got nothing to do with Jordan I'm assuming.

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:39 pm

Then it's most likely that reason. I'd like to think he isn't that shallow.

Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:39 pm

I think what he was saying was that even though Malone and Ewing did wear 11 and 6, a lot of people will associate those players as 32 and 33, since those were the most illustrious days of their career, and the time they played in their final numbers weren't as impressive or worth remembering. Also since so many great players have worn or currently wear 32, 33, and 34, when people bring up those numbers every person thinks of a different great player with that number...

Kobe Bryant wore number 8 on the other hand, and when people think of the number 8, 99.9% would probably think of Kobe, because he is maybe the only of the league's 'great' players to have worn that number. It's a number etched into his legacy, just as number 23 is almost always associated with Jordan. Changing his number would be a big change because it's the most one of the most unique things about him as a player.

ya pretty much, 32,33,34 are over used by great players so shaq changing to 34 didnt seem big. Kobe is the most famous #8 in recent history (unless u count sprewell as famous)

Wed Apr 26, 2006 2:18 pm

A little off topic, but Hipn, that south park guy isnt exactly your sig, its your display pic :) . And on the topic of Kobe getting a new number, it will be fairly weird seeing Kobe wearing anything other than his #8, but its just a number actually, nothing else really, other than the fact he wore 24 in High school. Anyone know when he will be changing it? Effective the next game or next season?

Wed Apr 26, 2006 2:19 pm

It's not his display pic, it's his avatar.
