Shaq's high school footage

Postby kevC on Tue Apr 25, 2006 6:52 am

I saw this on realgm

Look how skinny he is! Look at him running!
I slip away
I slipped on a little white lie
We've got heads on sticks, You've got ventriloquists
Standing in the shadows at the end of my bed

Psch, he's too undersized. He can't hang with the Bo Kimbles and Pervis Ellison's who will be coming into the league. Let alone bang with the great established centers.

He's going to LSU and will be forgotten in a year because of superstar Chris Jackson.

I can't see him ever developing into a legitimate talent. I've heard he's terrible at the free throw line, can't win titles if you don't hit your free throws. Not that it matters since he won't make the league. He only looks good because he's dunking on four foot tall white guys.

Shaq says his bad free throw shooting comes from the time he broke both his wrists as a kid. That having been said, you can't really blame him for it.

Seeing his young performance: I reckon if he had maintained that size throughout most of his career he would've been even greater. He could've gone down as the undisputed greatest center of all time....but as it stands i'd rank him a close 3rd.

Also....It's...funny...to-see...he...still...had-the....same...."monotonous"...speech...back-then.

EDIT:

Very weird to see Shaq so skinny, even in his early years in the NBA when he was a bit more slender than he is now he was still much more toned and was up around 300 pounds. Cool footage, thanks for posting. (Y)

so he 33 then, 32 in orlando, 34 in LA now 32 again. :P staying in that range. Man, he was with some geeks. "um he can just bring me a Jaguar and I'll be satisfied."

20, and that's just from his NBA salary alone .

Damn, he was so freakishly athletic and skilled . With a decent work ethic, he would easily be the GOAT, too bad that he was out of shape for the most of his career.

LOL, look at him! He reminds me a bit of Shawn Kemp when he was younger. Energy and power, combined with great speed.

I don't think so. One of the things that made Shaq so unstoppable is his tremendous weight. That and his quickness made him the machine he is today, made him unique. He would have been just another guy like Kemp if he hadn't bulked up.

A 6'10 Kemp at 260 pounds isn't 'just another guy'. A 7'1@290, 300 pounds version of Kemp wouldn't be 'just another guy', he'd be a fucking GOAT.

Olajuwon was more like an inch taller than Kemp and never as powerful as he was. Olajuwon used finesse to make his way to the basket while Kemp just ran over anyone who stood on his road to the rim. That's a big difference in styles.

Anyone ever heard of Wilt Chamberland or Lew Alcindor? Those two were the same height as shaq and wayyyyyyyyyy skinnier and still dominated the league. In my opinion...they were a bit better than shaq was cause of their mobility and flexibility. Shaq wouldn't have to be as skinny as they were; at his young size he still was bigger than them. My original opinion remains....shaq could've definitly gone down as the "GOAT" if he played at atleast 30 lbs less during his career
