1. Lebron
That's an obvious choice. His body/athleticism is unparalled in the game of basketball. One of the fastest guys in the NBA, can jump out of the building. His jumpshot is already better than Mcgrady's, Carter's, Jordan's or Bryant's was at the same age. With his strength, quickness, coordination and anticipation he has potential to be as good (if not better) than Artest on D and he'll certainly work on it to achieve that level. His court vision and passing skills are better than those of 98% of PGs in the League. One of the finest basketball minds around and already a top 3 player, but still nowhere near reaching his potential.
2. Dwight Howard
Huge psychically and an athletic freak to go with. Good skill foundation and extraordinary work ethic that assures us that he'll reach the top of his potential. Good motor. He's gonna end up one of the top PFs of all time, barring injures, you can bet on that.
3. Chris Bosh
The most underrated member of the 2003 draft class. He's a bit shorter version of KG, but with game more suitable for PF position and no choke syndrom. Is developing into a mighty offensive forse and if the right supporting cast will be put around him, he's gonna simply dominate.
4. Chris Paul
Isiah Thomas, only BETTER. Better teammate, more fundamental defense, more of a pure playmaker. He's already one of the top playmakers around (he's already more valuable than Nash to his team, IMO). His jumpshot is gonna become money sooner than later and he's going to be a MVP candidate every season for the next 12, 13 years.
5. Dwyane Wade
In my opinion, the most overrated member of the heralded 2003 draft class, but still great in his own right. He's gonna improve, that's for sure, but I don't think that his game is going to make that much of a leap. His defense is suspect and his jumpshot is nowhere near Jordan's at the same age.
Honorable mention: Carmelo Anthony (I can't stop thinking about that Glenn Robinson comparison, although he's going to be much better, but still - no D, lack of rebounding from the SF position and somewhat of 'strange' attitude), Josh Smith (he's really becoming more than just a freakish athlete. From all the SFs on the Hawks' roster, he probably has the most potential. Hawks will regret if they try to persuade him to play in the post), Al Jefferson (already unstoppable in the paint and he's just going to improve. Once he solves the problem surrounding his conditioning, he's going to have a breakout season), Amare Stoudamire (...if he ever returns to his previous psychical shape/athlecism), Darko (best athlete in the NBA (49 inch standing vertical), unbelivable range on his jump shot, 40/20/10/10 potential, a mix of Wilt, Mutombo and Magic. He beat Chuck Norris AND Dolph Lundgren 1-on-1.).

Surely, CP3 is a worthy mention.
Mon Apr 24, 2006 5:22 pm
I have to homerize this.
Gerald Green people.
Mon Apr 24, 2006 5:56 pm
LeBron is a good defender, when Hughes was injured, he gaurded the 'best' perimeter players on opposition teams, Wade and Parker to name a few.
Mon Apr 24, 2006 6:39 pm
other then lebron n wade
1) chris paul

What the hell does that mean? Absolutely nothing. He can't defend pick&roll, he surely can't find his way through the screens and his lateral movement is still work in progress. When Lebron and Wade guarded each other a couple of weeks ago, they both torched each other for shitload of points in the 4th quarter on surreal shooting %.
Mon Apr 24, 2006 8:56 pm
Yeah, and Avery could send me to guard Duncan if he wanted to.
Mind you, his 1.5 steals per game is no where near wallace's 2.5 per game.
Mon Apr 24, 2006 10:14 pm
nenad krstic will be in my list
Tue Apr 25, 2006 1:24 am
are you serious? darko has a 49 inch vertical? holy shit, that is freakish. i only thought guards were capable of that
Tue Apr 25, 2006 1:30 am
Antonio McDyess had a 48" vertical before he blew out his knew.
know it doesn't, but i was just saying that he does get quite a few steals and that is a defensive stat last time i checked. But when you watch the guy play he is a good defender. There is no denying that
if he is a good defender then the league doesn't have any bad defenders.

Holy crap, people
really don't get sarcasm
Tue Apr 25, 2006 2:23 am
1.Lebron James
2.Dwyane Wade
3.Chris Paul
4.Carmelo Anthony
5.Chris Bosh
Tue Apr 25, 2006 2:43 am
people haven't mentioned G Wallace....if he hones his game he could be a 18/7/5/2/2 player...that's crazy.
Tue Apr 25, 2006 3:23 am
Yeah, if he can stay healthy, that is. He's a perfect glue guy in the Josh Howard mold.

I love you.
Its pretty obvious that with the hype and the way he's playing that LeBron James has the brightest future.
Amare Stoudemire if he can successfully rebound from his injury, Dwight Howard, Charlie Villaneuva (homer pick), Dwyane Wade.
Tue Apr 25, 2006 10:21 am
Chris Bosh hasn't had too many situations where a normal player would've choked. His team's been out of the playoff running the whole time last three seasons, so that's not really something to credit him with. Great player though. In Live 04 he and Darko Milicic have one of the best pro hops.
Tue Apr 25, 2006 10:37 am
Just wondering: Does Lebron James need a Scottie Pippen-like sidekick to be succesful (that is, to get some of those nice rings)?

I thought it was 38, 48 inches is pretty insane, especially for a 6'9 guy, I doubt it was that high.
Tue Apr 25, 2006 11:02 am
don't really have to have a scottie pippen like sidekick
Kobe won championships with shaq
Big Z and Hughes are all-star calibre
If Hughes is capable of efficiently scoring 20points and playing as their best perimeter defender, with marshall, jones hitting 3's consistently and big z and gooden combining for like ~30/18 every night, they should be fine...
But right now, marshall has been crappy all-season, jones even worst, Z wasn't where he was last season, Hughes has been out..
I fink they can win 55 games with this team , next year, they will have 1 year under the belt...

i heard it was 41' verticals.. Dominique/Vince had over 40 inches vertical as well.. 50 inches vertical is a little too much

1. Zaza Pachulia
I think that this one is obvious.
2. Michael Jordan
He will comeback again in the form of a 2nd grader.
3. Pape Sow
This guy is very close to almost being close to being a beast.
4. Tony Delk
He is not
that old, right?
5. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin)
Most people agree he is an up-and-comer and has a great chance of visiting the White House (after an NBA title, duh!)

well i know he had a bigger vertical than Carter, and Carter got up to 46" on some of his dunks.
Shawn Kemp was in that 40"+ zone too.

You should go on Comedy Central Presents. Seriously.
Please sense the sarcasm.

Mcdyess is practically 6'10 and is as tall as Rasheed (a bit under 6'10 without and 6'11 with shoes on).

He proved that he can be clutch at times, which is more than KG ever did.

I don't think so. He does need a good supporting cast, though, something like Duncan has in SA. He already won 50 games with a team that doesn't play D, with shooters that can't shoot and soft interior presence. I mean, 50 games with Ronald Murray, Eric Snow and Drew Gooden in the lineup? Just hand him the frikkin' MVP award already.
