I think the Lakers and Suns have about equal playoff experience, the suns might have one or two more playoff experienced veterans, but no coach beats phil jackson when it comes to playoff knowledge, so i see the lakers becoming a whole new team in the playoffs. I think this will be a close series, 6 or 7 games. In all honesty though i dont think the lakers can beat the suns just because the suns players all seem to fit into their system whereas some of the non-starter lakers seem to struggle with that at times. But, i dont see the suns shutting down kobe at all, and if his teammates are on they lakers definitely can win.

I'm taking the suns in 6 but i'm hoping its the lakers in 6 or 7.

On the topic of stepping up in the playoffs, look at how Lebron and the Cavs played against the "playoff hardened" Wizards. He was simply a beast. This guy was going hard for everything while the Wizards seemed to still be playing in regular season mode. I say 'seems' because I only saw highlights here and there. Maybe the Wiz thought they could handle them easy since they were there last year so they got too comfortable. The same thing might happen to Phoenix. Everybody is rooting for them but they are in for a unpleasant surprise "if" they believe they are gonna cruise through this one. Thats the same thing that happened to LA when Detroit won a few years back. They thought the series was over before it began and Detroit simple outhustled them and showed they wanted it more.

a good point, the wizards and suns are probably looking at it like its a sort of birthright for them to be in the playoffs. They've earned there spot and they're waiting for the real games to start. The lakers and cavs are here on business and want to prove something from the start.

It would be quite something if the Lakers and Cavs met in the finals. I bet nobody predicted that one (Even I wouldnt have).

Were you in the practices before Amare started playing in-game? During the rehab process Amare was overcompensating for the injured knee and that's when the problems with the other knee started.

I've been hearing the opposite. Most of the people I've talked to have the Lakers winning. And in various columns the majority has been picking the Lakers to win as their first-round upset.

Funny enough I was going through ESPNs website and everybody picked Phoenix to win except Greg Anthony who had LA in 6.

Yeah, too bad that didn't make any sense, because the Cavs actually locked up their playoff spot a while ago. The Wiz had to go down to the wire to earn their playoff spot.

All that doesnt really matter. Its more of a "been there, done that" kinda deal whereas Cavs havent had much playoff experience in recent memory and the Wiz won a series last season so its expected they know what it takes.

There was a video of Amare practicing with the Suns before his other knee started troubling him and he didn't move exactly well.

^That would be because his other knee was still healing. It makes perfect sense. And when you're overcompensating for an injured knee you're not going to look that smooth.

Anyways, SUNS WIN!!!

Thank you Tim Thomas. He played an absolutely fantastic game. For the Suns he stepped up, just like Walton stepped up for the Lakers. Great game overall.

Take that whoever said Kobe was gonna take over and the Lakers were going to win this. Pretty good game in my eyes.

How much longer till Kurt Thomas returns? I heard second round, but if the series goes deep maybe the Suns will have him back for this round.

Wow this'll be a weird series, so many queer factors in the game. Tim Thomas won't play like that probably ever again, Kobe won't play like that probably ever again, God knows if the Lakers can stop the Suns running like that ever again, and will Kobe's teammates step up like that ever again?

I 'gree with Dro. Suns in 5. Kobe had a bad game, sure, but Suns will find ways to win. And if this year's finals are between the Lakers and Cavs, I won't post again.

the lakers really need to do a better job on closing out on defenders. it's not like they're not aware of it, but the suns are just way too fast when it comes to shooting the ball. also, the lakers need to step up their transition d. there was footage where nash got a rebound (or a steal) and it only took the suns 3 seconds to push the ball up court and get a basket.

Jason Kidd & K-Mart/R Jefferson used to do it in 2 seconds.

Don't say that!! I [i]know[i] that turning on the surround sound and yelling at the top of my lungs on helped the Suns win that game. :x
