Jasikevicius Could Be A Fit In Toronto
12th April, 2006 - 1:19 pm
Toronto Star - The Pacers are certain to make many changes this off-season. One player who has fallen out of favor is Sarunas Jasikevicius.

Doug Smith of the Toronto Star speculates that Bryan Colangelo and the Raptors might be a potential trade partner for the guard.

So what do u want? Trade James and a 2nd rounder for Saras?

That might be fair.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 7:11 am

I always thought he would fit best at Phoenix

Thu Apr 13, 2006 7:12 am

I doubt it. The person to go in Indy is Tinsley. Bird loves Sarunas too much.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 7:14 am

He has fallen out of favor in Indiana? I wonder how Indy feels about that.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 7:57 am

Jasikevicius won't go to Toronto. That's a 100% certain fact, cause he said that if he plays in a team, it has to be a favorite in all cometitions it participates. Toronto isn't a title contender. Neither is Indiana. But before the season, Indiana was one of the title contenders. If he will be traded, it's to a team that has a good roster.

I don't expect him to go to Toronto. Toronto has a surplus at the PG spot and even with trading Mike James a lot of talent would be wasted.

I'm not sure Phoenix are keen on running slow-breaks.

He'd probably fit in at alot of teams, Detroit, Lakers and Utah come to mind.

I think he'd fit in great for Phoenix. European players would probably excel in D'Antoni's offense, and House/Barbosa aren't really point guards. That said, I think the Suns need to fix their front court first and foremost..

Thu Apr 13, 2006 9:32 am

He can't run, could never run and will never run. Unless you want him grabbing boards and throwing hail mary's down the court.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 9:33 am

Phoenix's tempo is too fast for Saras... He would be good for a different team like Denver, Detroit, Miami... any team that needs a shooter.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 10:10 am

I doubt the Pacers would trade Jasikevicius, esepcially considering what Bird went through to sign him. The problem with Jasikevicius is he has no set positition.

The Pacers will probably move Tinsley, and I doubt Jasikevicius is ready to start (no way the Pacers would put Johnson as their starting PG). I think he'll get extended PT next year, of course nobody knows what Carlisle does with his rotations.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 10:12 am

He has a set position (he's always been a PG) he just doesn't seem to be allowed to play it in Indiana.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:25 am

How bout, we forget about this and trade Hoffa for Milicic. And hmm... Bosh for Hoaward?? Mayben not, but Hoffa for Milicic.

Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:13 pm

You can trade anyone to phoenix and they'd fit best, unless they're really old and slow and dont play full court ball, like malik rose or something. I dont see bosh or howard going in a trade because usually teams are very reluctant to trade young rising stars.

In his "checking in" post a few weeks back Indy said he'd soured on him as well (my word, not his).

I really have no idea about his speed, just assuming that Phoenix could always use another really good shooter

Kurt Thomas got to fit with the Suns before being injured.

Fri Apr 14, 2006 8:35 am

Heck, I wouldn't mind Saras, although this rumour is definitely not happening.

I'd take anyone at the point over Mike James.

Kurt Thomas is in there for his defense. Nobody expects him to run the floor and score lots on offense.

Would love him in LA.
Get rid of Aaron and bring in Sarunas.

Fri Apr 14, 2006 8:34 pm

Everybody wants Saras. We can just imagine waht would have happened if Saras would have signed to Cleveland over Indiana. How well he would fit in there, even though he would slow the offense a little, but still it would be much better than Snow or Jones. This team might have even on the title this year...but it's only a what if...

i disagree...a championship needs a very solid backup PG. Sarunas is not that guy, neither was Arroyo. They are fine for playoff teams, but not as your first PG off the bench for a championship contender.
Dude can't play defence and he ain't exactly Jason Kidd when it comes to creating for teammates.....he's more like a SG that needs open shots to be productive. Besides Detroit already has enough 3 points shooters.....Billups, Hamilton, Delk, Prince, Rashweed.

I hope that was a typo.
