Magic a playoff team?

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:23 am

I know it's a long shot, but recently the Magic have really made a push for the 8th seed. They passed Boston for 10th, and have games against Chicago, Indiana and Philly remaining. The only tough game on their schedule is San Antonio (the other is Toronto).

Anyone think they'll make the playoffs? Seems like Darko has really made a difference since he was traded over.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:26 am

I hope they do.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:34 am

Its possible I was thinking it to. But I doubt it. If they played this good in the beginning then they would have 7th or 6th seed no sweat.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:36 am

It'll be tough, but anything can happen. The Magic have always had a soft spot in my heart ever since DeShawn Stevenson was traded to their team.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:39 am

would be funny if they make it and knock off the pistons  I know darko would love that or at least the chance

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:40 am

They have to win the rest of there games right? It's possible, and I hope they do too.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:41 am

But I hope they loose to Pacers and Sixers. but beat the Raptors and Spurs (Y)

I hope you die for making that statement. :x

But then again, I also cheer for the Magic....

But still, not as much as I cheer for the Raptors....

But then again, if I root for the Magic to win that game then it would better their chances of getting into the playoffs, and that means that I would be able to follow them more closely....

But still.... Oh screw it. I still hope you die for making that statement.

That would be nice and they will be facing Detroit.Given the shaky play the Pistons have shown early in the playoff(haha, remember how mcgrady's Magics?) they may have a chance to get to the 2nd round, slim though.

Is he any good?
I only know that he shoots fade away even when there's no one contesting, quite funny, but very weird.

DeShawn Stevenson is Michael Jordan on a tank full of steriods. That is all you need to know.

He is the closest thing there is to god on this planet. Period.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:51 am

Darko will probly get a Triple Double against the Raptors. His statline would be this....

29 points
17 rebounds
1 assist
12 blocks
7 steals

As long as it's mathematically possible, they're in with a shot. But right now I'd still call them a longshot to make up the ground.

Is DeShawn Stevenson the alias of Mark Madsen? Because you just described the mad dog.

I remember the year he was drafted I actually thought he was gonna do it big in the league. What happened?

Tue Apr 11, 2006 12:33 pm

He did it big to fourteen year old girls instead...

 That's one of the best one-liners I've seen. Year in Review thread, anyone?

What happened to that anyway? Out of court settlement or what?

Wow, they are totally on fire. Heck, they routed the Spurs tonight and have now won 10 of their last 11 games. They might be another team that is playing well just because the pressure is off like last year's Warrior team or the guys down in Orlando are putting together something special. No one really knows right now but man, are they playing well.

It's because of the deals they made.

Arroyo has been basically as good as Francis this season. Clearing Francis allowed Nelson to play more improving the point guard slot. (The Francis-Stevenson-Turkoglu-Howard-Battie lineup was outscored by 65 points over 560 minutes, the lineup with Nelson in place of Francis has outscored opponents by 56 points over 427 minutes)

Then they swapped Kelvin Cato for Darko which was a major upgrade especially considering Cato wasn't playing. Then they got Ariza for free even if he hasn't played too much.

15 games ago their offense was 102.0, now it's 103.6. Their defense has fallen from 105.0 to 104.5.

Nelson, Howard and Turkoglu have all been playing much better than they were before the Francis trade. While they replaced Francis with two players equally as good, and Cato to Ariza was a slight step up even in their minimal minutes. It all adds up to a team that's catching tired teams and taking advantage.

It really pays to be young in this part of the season. Hope they make it.

I think they can do it and i'll be rooting for them in the east if they get into the playoffs.

I really hope so...but after the Bulls' victory i don't know...
Anyway Orlando is playing big now
An Orlando-Detroit first round would be great, with Darko scoring the winning points in game 7 in Detroit...

That would be sick if Darko did that to his old team. Its a real long strech though. Orlando wouldn't even beat the Pistons once plus Darko would get shut down by Big Ben or Sheed

The only big man on the Pistons roster who can 'shut down' anyone defensively is 'Sheed and he would be guarding Howard. Considering the fact Ben would be trying to play help defense most of time, Darko would have more than enough room to do his damage. And a healthy Grant Hill would make this team even more dangerous than they already are.

Is Nelson great or what?
