06-why would u trade franchise 4 ariza???
04-couldn't they have traded mcgrady for VC or pierce???
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:55 am
06-cause Ariza is the fucking shiznit and Francis sucks donkey balls, also because they don't have Francis' contract counting against their cap anymore.
04-obviously not, or else they would've probably done that instead. Though that wouldn't have got them any players such as Mobley and Cato (who to me seemed pretty decent at that time), even though it didn't really work out well for the Magic.

04 - McGrady does NOTwant to play in Toronto, period.

Correction: Are the Magic stupid?
You're welcome.

Wasn't it that he didn't want to be second option to Carter.

Yes, thats the reason he left. But he will not return to Toronto because: no1, TO is a losing team just like the magics; no2, the TO fans hated Mac just like VC although not has heated, after Mac left them.

Actually, for sporting franchises, you can either treat it as singular or plural.
"The Rockets are going to dominate next season" and
"The Rockets is going to dominate next season"
are both correct.
It seems more natural to treat the teams that end in "s" as plural since it indicates each player of that team is, for example, a "Rocket". Hence, a group of them would be the "Rockets".
In the case of the Magic, Heat, or Jazz, it seems more natural to treat it as singular for the contrary reason.
Me go study rong rong time.

"The Rockets is going to dominate next season"
But that sounds retarded

Actually I think it still seems more natural to say "The Magic ARE going to dominate next season" or "The Heat ARE going to dominate". Since we are talking about a whole team and not just one player on the team it should be plural anyway. So "is" is not correct at all.

Not really. A "team", in itself, is a collective noun like "group" or "batch" so it should be treated as singular. It's just that most teams' names end with "s" that they allow the plural use.

Fri Mar 31, 2006 10:34 am
why? qrich and rose suck. Ariza's younger too, I believe.

What's up with all the subject/verb disagreement?
I hate that almost as much as pronoun-antecedent disagreement.

Trevor Ariza is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Besides, the Magic did not need another shoot first point guard taking away shot opportunities from Dwight. Francis hasn't done anything when he came to New York either, so you can't really say that the trade has exactly been a steal for them.
After never getting past the first round of the playoffs, being bothered by his back for a few games and coming off a terrible, terrible season, I don't think that teams would have take the chance on McGrady because he didn't seem capable of leading his team.
The Magic have actually made some pretty decent moves by acquiring Darko, Arroyo and resigning Dwight and Jameer Nelson. They have a bright future ahead of them.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 4:25 pm
yeah, they had to ditch francis to clear cap to give darko a nice fat extension
Fri Mar 31, 2006 6:30 pm
Francis/Ariza Deal: They were obviously desperate to move Francis and cut their losses, and his stock was fairly low. Not a great deal but not one completely without reason.
T-Mac to Houston: As CK said, the obvious reason is simply they weren't able to do it. Houston wanted to move Francis, McGrady wanted out of Orlando. With no other takers or scenarios that worked under the salary cap, they trade with each other. Ultimately not a move that's worked out fantastically for Orlando but probably the best they could do.

i like D.howard, so i really like magic building around him. magic is anyway clever to dump francis, give nelson more playing time can let him develop. arroyo and nelson can hav some healthy completation too. hope darko can develop as well.
Go magic!!!!!!!!!!
Fri Mar 31, 2006 8:58 pm
cant wait to see arroyo and nelson completation with each other... theyre so good at completation-ing
dont forget magic also got a huge expiring contract, and for a team that is looking to rebuild, expiring contracts and young players like ariza are perfect
Sat Apr 01, 2006 7:00 am
francis to NY is a bit like Marbury to NY. The teams didn't want those players and dealt them for next to nothing. In the Suns case, I'd say it worked out alright, wouldn't you? The Magic(I assume) are going to go big after some FAs
Sat Apr 01, 2006 9:54 am
Francis sux, they should of kept T-Mac and after they drafted Howrd, they would've made the playoffs!
