Sixth Man of the Year Canidate Miller Goes for 41 Points

Sat Mar 18, 2006 1:41 pm

Yes, this is my 2nd Grizzlies thread of the week, but I can't contain myself. Mike Miller scored a career-high 41 off the bench tonight against the Nuggets. He shot 15-24 from the field. He has to be one of the most underrated shooters in the league. He had a triple double earlier in the season and now a 41-point game. If he can continue playing well for the rest of the year and with this 41 point game accomplishment, he can definitely win the 6th man of the year award.

He was sooo lucky today. He'll suck next game. (n)

Sat Mar 18, 2006 2:32 pm

He is underrated along with guys like Chris Kaman. Good performance, things are looking up for the Grizz.

Sat Mar 18, 2006 2:35 pm

41 points off the bench is pretty good. Good enough to knock off Carmelo's good game.

Sat Mar 18, 2006 3:43 pm

This sealed him 6th man IMO, just like Kobes 81 sealed the scoring title.

Sat Mar 18, 2006 3:56 pm

Good game. He ties the franchise record... tying with no other greater player than Bryant 'Big Country' Reeves!

Sat Mar 18, 2006 4:11 pm

Underrated... cuz he's white! Reverse discrimination is running rampant! :o

Kaman is way more underrated, he got a huge 24/23 game, and nobody made a topic for that

actually yeah, i thought i found related to him :wall:
but back to Miller

Sat Mar 18, 2006 5:42 pm

If he came off the bench, then why did he play 41 minutes? But whatever, great game for him. And since Earl Boykins broke his hand, this means he's probably win the 6th Man award comfortably.

Sat Mar 18, 2006 6:08 pm

He played 41 minutes because Battier got into early foul trouble and after Camby got hurt in the 1st half, Miller started in place of Big Jake in the beginning of the 2nd half to go with a smaller lineup to matchup with the Nuggets. He was also 10-13 at one point in the game so there was no need to take him out when he was that hot.

nevr seen this many of the bench

Sun Mar 19, 2006 11:09 am

You're like ShAun but you stick to one team.

Sun Mar 19, 2006 3:43 pm

Do we get a thread every time a Grizzlie scores 20+?

Sun Mar 19, 2006 3:56 pm

Yeah, and when Kobe scores 81, you guys are criticising him still.. :x
Anyway, I hate Mike Miller in NBA Live. :|

Sun Mar 19, 2006 4:59 pm

It was impressive but he played 41 minutes so coming off the bench wasn't really a factor

6th Man Candidates(In No order)

Mo Williams
Eddie House
Mike Miller
Ben Gordon
Michael Finley
Devin Harris

Probably forgot someone :D

Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:23 pm

You forgot Earl Boykins. But since he's out for more or less the rest of the season, I suppose he's eliminated from the runnnings.

I know Indy and I were battling for best homer, but since he left, I own the title  Just imagine if the Grizzlies win their first playoff game this year, let alone their first playoff series this year. I might take up the entire NBA talk section!

Sun Mar 19, 2006 8:38 pm

Except Indy wasn't as irritating as you are.

He can't be a candidate this year. He's started more than 50% of the games he's played, disqualifying him. Nocioni is the best candidate the Bulls can offer this season.

If I was more irritating, I would make a different thread every week about the Grizzlies. If I recall, the first thread I made in NBA Talk in a long time was the Pau getting his first triple double thread and at least I'm not talking alot of jibberish because I know what I'm talking about when I decide to post in NBA threads.

Good thing he didn't get that one assist today because there would've been another thread with him getting a triple double

i think he is one of the top candidates for the award. before i believe i had mentioned Claxton as the front runner but that guy has missed a lot of games

Nocioni won't probably win the award. My guess is the Miller will get it even though Nocioni is more productive & consistent then him and a difference maker on BOTH sides of the ball

Mon Mar 20, 2006 12:22 pm

Oh I agree he's a perfectly legitimate candidate, it's just that the Bulls' record will of course go against him.

Mon Mar 20, 2006 3:15 pm

it really is just between Nocioni, Miller and Claxton. I cant think of anyone else who has a chance.
