36pts 9rebs (18 of 20 at the line)... in a loss to the Nets
Tue Mar 14, 2006 5:40 pm
well he's doing really great..but no support from the rest..so cant blame him
Tue Mar 14, 2006 6:04 pm
what the hell is up with yao. the guy is on a mission, and im loving it, he's actually dominating and torching his opponents now. too bad he has no help whatsoever though.
Tue Mar 14, 2006 6:13 pm
Yao is doing great, and as everyone has said, he's not getting any help. To make it worse, most the guys on the team don't have any trade value. Luther Head has a good future, Swift still has some value, but the rest is .... A lot of the guys are old, another guy is Alston. I don't know what Rocket's salary cap looks like, but

my point about him being too slow with his shot, he got swatted by Jason Kidd.
Wed Mar 15, 2006 12:03 pm
well, everyone's gonna get swatted by kidd, he does things that guards are suppose to be able to do. no need to try and downgrade yao by pointing one one specific thing out of many that happened during the game
Wed Mar 15, 2006 1:40 pm
your right, i forgot to mention how badly he got abused on the defensive end.

his turnaround jumper and hook shots are pretty fast, its just that, he is double teamed initially, i don't mind my center getting swatted as long as hes makng his shots and dominating, offensively, he is a handful
he is okay defensively, i wouldn't say he is bad..
Wed Mar 15, 2006 2:48 pm
Hell anybody can get blocked... Still a great game by Yao, I doubght they will make it to the playoffs though.

You must have been reading Charley Rosen's article.
Wed Mar 15, 2006 9:09 pm
nope....i saw his shitty pick & roll defense.
Thu Mar 16, 2006 1:24 pm
YAO ALERT!!!! 27 points and 11 boards at half time. Thats pretty good......and they are still losing...............
Thu Mar 16, 2006 3:43 pm
nope....i saw his pick & roll defense.
Do you really think that a 300-pound guy is supposed to be able to keep up with Vince Carter?
Thu Mar 16, 2006 3:50 pm
hm.. they lost, but yao scored 36 and grabbed 12 boards. i'm happy with that.
Thu Mar 16, 2006 3:51 pm
Yao's a beast, I am going to go and play as Houston in ESPN 2K5 in tribute to this fact.

In the black/blue forums before Yao was drafted, I spent every single post either building up how good he was going to be, or bagging Vince Carter. I'm entitled to some Asian Yao-love
Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:04 pm
you go girl. play the heat and ram that bastard into shaq.
Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:30 pm
Yao's PER without tonight's game is a staggering 25.5 and that's including his "bad" first half of the season. I'm guessing his PER is near 30 after the all-star break.
PER-wise he's the 8th most efficient player in the league...
I want his babies.
EDIT:
Thanks to Benji...
His post all-star break PER is.... 34.34!!!
31 points 14 rebounds 1.8 assists 2.5 blocks per 40 minutes. 62% shooting from the field, 87% from the line.
20.1 rebound rate (Twice league average).
6.2(!) turnover rate. (Guys who are spot-up shooters don't get turnover rates that low.)
I know it's only 10 or so games but... Best player in the league BY A MILE in this stretch...
Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:47 pm
lol does anyone remember how dampier dubbed himself the 2nd best center in the west ? (or was it the league). man, yao sure showed him tonight
Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:48 pm
I saw Dampier block someone in a Dallas game the other day, then start screaming and beating his chest... I just kept thinking "you wanker, you do realise you've been knocked out of the starting team by DeSagana fucking Diop?"
Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:52 pm
Just for comparison's sake (and to be a homer) Jordan's highest PER season was 31.7 and Wilt's was 32.1
Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:57 pm
Kobe's January: 35.50.
