From what i've heard Shawn Marion has a serious speech impetiment (spelling?) I doubt that makes him stupid . And Malik Rose is smart
Thu Feb 23, 2006 2:45 pm
I don't know what kind of speech impediment that could be, because he speaks perfectly normal to start with.
Thu Feb 23, 2006 2:51 pm
when he first came into the NBA there was a rumor about KG being so stupid he had to wear a digital watch to tell the time
Thu Feb 23, 2006 3:07 pm
lmfao wtf no way

Michael Ruffin is supposed to be really smart.
@ Anthony15: Kenyon Martin was born with a speech impediment. just because you cant understand him doesnt mean hes an idiot.

Kobe is smart! He got out of going to jail for his rape convictions and got Shaq traded so he can have the Lakers to himself and he didn't go to college too!
I am so Smart, S-M-R-T!

...........in a interview, he admitted he was dumb when he said he didn't hang any of his report cards on the wall

Charles Barkley is smart...
After Kenny Smith expressed surprised at Barkley's ability to pronounce Suns guard Leandro Barbosa's name, Charles replied: "I'm bilingual. I speak profanity and English."

KG is a really cool guy. I have watched Beyond the Glory on him a year back and he did have some trouble taking his ACT's and SAT's and his grades weren't the best. But he tried, I would give him a heads up for that. As for Vince Carter, hell yea he is smart, really good guy as well. Melo I have heard is smart.

Jae wrote:Shawn Marion is hilarious to listen to. He starts off talking fine for the first 30 seconds, you can understand everything clearly and it's all good... then it descends into this bizarre mumbling that is absolutely impossible to decipher. I watched an interview he did for a Dunks DVD with about 6 other people, and every one of them looked at each other like "what the fuck..." about 40 seconds into his interview.
I don't know if that's a sign of intelligence though.
That reminds me...DJ Clue must never host a Dunks DVD again.

From what I've read, I can tell that Steve Nash is an intelligent guy. His views on humanity and his overall way of talking are totally inspiring.

From what i heard (from a commentator during a suns game once, hehe), Shawn Marion had a huge speech impediment when he was first drafted into the league. Then he managed to overcome it through some program. So i guess the mumbling is just a reoccurance of the impediment or something.
Anyways, when i first read the topic, the first players that came to mind where Tim Duncan and Ray Allen.
Channing Frye is clever. After the rook/soph game, he came up with the name 'Cherry Pickuodala'

Antoine Walker looks like an idiot but for all i know he could be a genius.
I found this link looking for Smartest NBA Players...
White guys can think. About five years ago, Sports Illustrated polled NBA coaches and managers to name the smartest basketball players in the league. The Boston Celtics star, Larry Bird, ranked first. He was followed by John Stockton of the Utah Jazz. Both are white. No African-American player made the top five.
The media tends to ignore off-the-court intellectual ventures of black athletes. For example, have you heard about Shaquille O’Neil, an NBA star, going back to college to get his degree?

Does Igoudala have any kind of speech impetiment? He talks like he has a lisp.

that's awesome.
If any players don't like having their intelligence underestimated, stop talking like gang bangers in an effort to be "cool".

yeah, i saw this show on CBC (Canadian Brodcasting Corperation) and Steve Nash was a slacker in school, so he could work on basketball, and i don't know if you guys remember Todd Macholuch (Spelling is wrong), he played center for the sixers and the nets a few years back, and he seemed so braindead. Allen Iverson seems so dumb cause of how he tries to talk all gangster. TD seems really intelligent, and so does Chris Bosh.

I like how you said, "Braindead." How was he braindead? Sure, he looked like an ogre like Bryant Reeves, but was he really that dumb?
And he's Canadian, hence my interrogation.

Actually, no. jk. But seriously. Nash is pretty freaking smart. He's got a degree in sociology, and his basketball IQ is through the roof.
