Orlando Will Waive Penny, Re-Sign Outlaw22nd February, 2006 - 10:30 pm
New York Times - Orlando intends to waive Penny Hardaway and to re-sign Bo Outlaw, who was waived yesterday to make room on the roster.
Hardaway and Trevor Ariza came over in the Steve Francis deal on Wednesday.

So basically Orlando got the worst of this trade as far as talent goes. Well, that may not be the case with the Magic getting the best results out of the trade - I think the Magic will improve with Ariza and finally a real point guard will step it up in Orlando... the question is will it be Arroyo, Dooling, or Nelson?

I was hoping Penny would get another chance in Orlando. Wow, I'm wondering what's gonna happen to the guy now.

Time for people to realize that Penny's time is over, and he needs to retire and just chill out. It's not the early 90's anymore, and he doesn't have an early 20's Shaquille O'Neal.

Come to LA Penny.. That would be great... well not great but good.. Kobe and penny in the backcourt.. Two ex Shaq teammates on teh same team.. haha

I'll third that. Penny Hardaway's career was one of an all-stars' (at least the first couple years) and it would pain me to see it end with him being waived. (especially by the team that drafted him) I only hope that there's some light down the road for Penny.

The Warriors drafted him. and then they traded him for Webber.

keep Nelson & Arroyo and get rid of dooling.

Penny needs to retire. He and Johnathan Bender should become best friends since they have so much in common... lots of talent, injury prone, and drawing a huge check for doing nothing.
Fri Feb 24, 2006 10:58 am
The main difference is, Hardaway did a lot more before injuries derailed his career.

Penny was one of the more elite players at the time when he was with Shaq. Things just started slowly going downhill after Shaq left before his first major knee injury. After that, his career was never the same
Fri Feb 24, 2006 3:44 pm
He had 1 good season with the Suns, and another 1 and a half season with the Magic WITHOUT shaq, i would say he wasn't elite b/c of shaq..
i still think if he gets healthy , he can be a servicable pg... Hes smart, hes a team-first guy... have size ( phil likes big guards )
Fri Feb 24, 2006 4:05 pm
well, the problem is, I don't think his knees will allow him to play...
isn't he still working out somewhere in Houston?
